That's awesome!! I just bought me an acre of land in Hawaii and it gets bulldozed next week. I'm so excited 😁 The sound of a dozer is therapeutic. Great video!!

Dozers are great therapy: if I was having a bad day/week at my factory I'd get to the farm and after an hour in a dozer seat I was back on track to fight another day. It is seeing instantly the results of your work:got a mess, clean with dozer. Life is good.Only bad day I ever had on a dozer was when I was doing a heavy blind push with my old Cat D-6 and drove off a 14' deep creek bank. Upended the dozer 80 degrees. Took another D-6 and 2 grand to get it out. Put the seat belt back in after we got it out of the ditch.

@@HamiltonvilleFarm You are spot on about the dozer therapy. It amazes me how well dozer therapy works. No need for zoloft if you have a dozer. The instant gratification of seeing big results quickly. I think also the concentration required to operate a dozer safely is one key to dozer therapy effectiveness. It takes ones mind off everything else going on in their life.

Yes, great therapy... except the day I was pushing a huge brush pile and drove into a mineshaft. Luckily the brush eased to impact, and only a hydraullic line on the rippers broke off.

Hank, got about a 3 acre patch that I want to clean up the underbrush similarly to yours. Options: hire a forestry mulcher (quick, expensive & I don’t get to have any fun), rent a skid steer with a heavy brush cutter, rent a skid steer with a grapple (pile & burn), or rent an excavator with a thumb (pile & burn). Hadn’t thought about renting a dozer, still have to pile & burn.

Hank. Excellent video. I’m going through the same process. I’m using a skid steer mulched followed by the dozer. I have bad washout in old retracted land. Would you recommend just clearing with the dozer versus running a mulcher first? The dozer can go some places a mukcher can’t. I’m curious on your hybrid experience.

To do a build site for a house in a wooded lot would you prefer an older used dozer or a bobcat with a forestry mulcher on it? The caveat is you’d be buying either and keeping it. I feel the dozer would be a cheaper used purchase and can also make quicker work of other dirt work to save money on what the foundation contractors would otherwise need to do. What are your thoughts on that

ITS relatively easy as they are pilot controlled. I ran a dozer fir the first time in 2019 to clear a wooded lot and it went well. Just push the material to a cleared area if you can so your not pushing material on top of other material. Also, get a cab unit if you can.Its makes for a more pleasurable experience. Heat, air. And some have radio.

How long would it take for the average person to learn to drive that tractor if they are proficient driving a bobtail truck? Clearing off 10,000 sq lot with small tree, my wife tells me we can pay someone to do it! My response why do they get to have all the fun!!

Word of advice before clearing property: If you plan to build and implement septic for waste water, you will want to have your Soil Scientist draw up a soil map of best areas of for your lines to go. I was a mapping assistant working for my friend (who is still operating) for years, mapping all over SE Tennessee, N Georgia, N Alabama, W North Carolina. Check with your Soil Scientist first if you can remove a minimal amount of topsoil with the dozer blade before mapping. He'll probably advise against it before mapping, which is more than likely what he'll say and is most logical. You may be able to remove a minimal amount of topsoil before mapping, he'll tell you how much, according to state guidelines. Once you drop the blade and start moving Earth on property before it's mapped is called 'cut' and destroys the soil profile. More than likely he will call for pits to be dug by a backhoe so he can assess the soil profile and may even need to get a State Scientist involved in the evaluation. Hope this helps.

What you're clearing decides how much you can clear per hour. Open station dozers: so much fun when you knock a tree down (or give it a good bump) with a big wasp or hornets nest in it and then those wonderful ground nesting pigmy yellow jackets and bumble bees. Been run out of the dozer seat more than once by stinging devils....
