How Much Money I Spend in a Week as a Part Time Doctor Mom

I recently put out a video breaking down exactly how many hours a part time doctor like myself works along with how much money one can make! That being said - the take home money does not seem as big as the overall salary after taxes. Today I give you the totally breakdown of our week expenses. Along with reoccurring monthly expenses.
Keep in Touch!
Wyatt, London, and I and fairly active on instastories. Follow us / dr.jennale if you are interested in more behind the scenes of medicine/hospital and home life!

Jenny, great video and I love the honesty. I think it was good. Except that car. Girl, give that car back to the dealer. The younger kid will be in private school soon. The price of that one car can get you two excellent cars/trucks/SUV or allow you to throw at least half onto that ridiculous loan. Honestly, I’d look at repaying that loan ASAP. Is there no plan you can apply for to pay that off quicker? Or if you are a doctor in that state for so long are there financial plans offered by the state to pay that off quicker? Realtors don’t make consistent income all the time. I guess that’s just me. Good video.

Hey, I am curious to know how you’re using investments to pay off a lump sum on your student loans in September. I have been working a lot of extra hours and placing my money into a high yields savings account with the goal of getting some interest and then paying a lump sum. I’m too chicken to go the investment route because I don’t want to lose money. But if I could capitalize on extra money for a big return I would do it
@drjennale
@drjennale 3 жыл бұрын
White coat investor says put it into a high yield savings - most will give you $400-500 when you transfer funds. We actually put it into ETFs 😅 still risky but JETS ETF is up 100% since we purchased! Other ones are S&P 500 and Vanguard Total Market - all ETFs. We thought it was safer to have a group than individual stocks. But as you said, still risky

Retirement, health insurance, and taxes have already been deducted from my paycheck so I did not add it to the total. 910 a month is on the Tesla car loan - correct. Ayyyy that Montessori school is expensive, are you in an area that doesn’t have good public schools? Just curious how you are justifying that 11000 a year, and why you chose that instead of your retirement or the kids college fund? Tough decisions I’m sure. But I commend you for all that interactive hands on learning at home with the garden, reading to them, playing, etc which is the most important thing! If you need more ideas to keep them entertained, there’s hands on science mini experiments with at home supplies on Spangler Science or the Exploratorium snacks website. When they get a little older you can even let them choose an Exploratorium “snack” to recreate at home and have them find the supplies in the house on their own. I’m a middle/high science teacher who has an itch to go back for med school but I’m 38 and also feel like there are other joys and goals in life it would take away from for too many years. So for now, I can at least watch you and cheer you on!! Keep up the great work!

We plan to have Wyatt in public school next year! We move specifically for better schools. Wyatt has learned so much at the Montessori (much more than I feel like I am able to teach him). Maybe cause I’m his mom and he’s constantly testing his boundaries with me.

I am sure this video doesnt show your day to day life but I just saw an amazing woman trying to save as much as possible, taking care of the kids, working, packing lunches and taking care of their house while the husband buys stuff and goes golfing bc he is tired 😂

Stan had family pass away and golf is like his therapy. We all need it sometimes - and this week was super hard on him. We work as a team so his mental health is just as important as mine. Other weeks, I would buy stuff on Amazon 😅 so it all evens out. He also does a lot of the stuff around the house.

I know 😭 Stan and I had our cars paid off for years (I drive the same car from college) but last year Stan’s car broke down and it was more expensive to fix than it was worth. So now here we are with the Tesla

@@drjennale You do you I guess. No judgement. But for me... well I’m one of these people who goes with what works. I would rather take the extra $$, buy clothes, go out to dinner or do an overnight somewhere. Does a $300 a month car payment get you to the same location? Again... it’s all opinions and you know what they say about opinions! Lol
