In this video, I show some before and after video of my 1981 Suzuki PE175, as well as some riding footage. I just got done installing and tuning a Keihin PWK 35 Air Striker on this bike.

Thanks man, I'm hoping it seems just as grand on it's first outing with the new carb this weekend. I'm planning for this to replace my RM465 for racing.

@@vintageadventurerrides how good is that to know you ride a rm465,I myself had an rm465z 4 speed tranny .was in mid/late 80's,hopefully get another one next couple years.suzukis are great bike's I thinks. my rmx250 will be on the road next week,rego and road legal.cheers brother!

I've been riding that RM465 for a little over a year now. It's the 1982 with the flatslide carburetor and the 4 speed gearbox. It's a monster of a bike to race in the woods, though. The PE175 is easier to carry speed through corners on, as well as ride to it's potential with confidence.

How does riding the PE with the PWK compare to the stock carb? Did you use a cheapie China pwk?

The stock carburetor was basically unusable. I don't know what was wrong, but no matter what I tried it would just foul plugs and flood. I went with an actual Keihin carb. I wouldn't be caught dead with a China carburetor. They're not suitable for a racer. I did have a stock carburetor off a 1985 Yamaha IT200 on the bike before. It was a very similar carburetor to the stock one off the PE, as they were both Mikuni VM34SS carbs. The Keihin does have the edge over that carb in that it has much better throttle response. Top end performance difference is marginal, but coming out of corners is far better with the modern flatslide.

@@vintageadventurerrides Thanks for the reply. I have a 1984 PE175 that I rebuilt and is all stock, it runs pretty decent. I also have a 1983 PE175 that I am building and I want to make that one a bit spicier. I was thinking about running a PWK as well because the stock carb is pretty trashed. What jetting did you end up with? It would be helpful to know for a good baseline.

It seems like everyone has one here in Oklahoma, but they don't have the dual shock 175s. they're all 250s, 400s or later Full Floater bikes.
