Yup - I also used it generally once or twice a week. But I never managed to go without it for a whole week, for a period of 20 years. I would definitely call that an addiction!

Before discovering nofap I would also use p*rn around once or twice per week. i realized it was an addiction when I first tried to quit and found it almost impossible to go past the 1-2 week mark. Interestingly my addiction worsened for a while when trying to quit when at my worst I was using at least once a day if not multiple times. It was an absolute hellish existence looking back. But I'm glad to say that I've gotten to the point where I've only watched it twice in the past 12 months. Cravings are still there especilly during difficult such and/or when I'm exposed to certain triggers like recently, but they've reduced a lot as my identity, my sense of self has shifted to the point where I no longer identify with the addiction. Moderation may be possible for some people, but I know I'm not one of them. Keep up the amazing work brother!

When i made a decision to stop masturbation and porn, i found out i can't go pass 1 week or reach 2 week. I have done things that will help me stop founding what triggers me. I what to stop and focus on my life

CDP-choline Inositol A good omega 3 (unlike the other two, this one is not backed up by research, that I know of, but would probably be beneficial due to other brain-healthy effects, so it is plausible)

I get what are you saying Bob, but still would like to ask you about some estimations numbers. For acclaration, Im the guy who actually is addicted to porn since 2007, in my lowest epoch I was used to watch 20-30 hours per week (2010-2017). In financial terms, last year i blew up 6,000 euros on porn, in general I afraid it could be above 40,000 since 2017 (when i first spend money on porn). And at least since 2009 I wished to stop watching in inmediate future. So cleary heavy addict here. Despite all that, i cant get out of my head the idea that it would be possible somehow to achieve brain detox without having to totally give up on porn. Its like keep addiction without paying negative consequences for addiction. Im now it sounds silly, more from me, but i cant get this idea out of my head, and so many times that idea alone make my craving more appealing. So my question is straight, and from the angle of no negative consequences to brain, do you consider 8 hours a month is too much?

In terms of desensitization it could potentially be possible to reverse some of it even with some use here and there, (if you otherwise live super healthy) but there are more brain changes than that going on in addictions. The malfunctioning stress system and sensitization (the supermemory of pleasure that produces powerful cravings) would never get weaker and most addicts would not be able to keep it at their desired amount without escalating again. Hence the "loss off control" mentioned in today's video. Not saying you can't do it, but I am saying most addicts can not. Myself included. Also if one has some porn induced sexual problems (pied, DE, or other) they would most likely never go away with that approach.

@@ScandinavianBobThanks for sharing you knowledge, really apreciate it! Frankly, it happened to me in 2017. My mental health since 2008 was progresively getting worse - more anxiety, panic attack, OCD skyrocked - especialy since 2010 when my social live died and watching become my main hobby. By 2017 I were in loop I were unable to escape. Then got sick on May, just one week, but one week without porn, make of momentum and my use drop from +100 hours monthly to less than 10-20 for sure. And I start to feeling better, but little by little I start to watching more, session were longer and more frequent, and although I never came back to 5 hours per day, by Autumn pretty much what i have gained in May and June, all optimism for future, was much gone and i was unable to do anything about. But despite all that, still cant get out that idea that perhaps it would be possible to stick to controled addiction without escalation. It make me crave to try that and frankly Im terrified i never get rid of that crave of trying to accomodate addiction with detox. So, in the scenario that would be possible to stick to x hours per month (lets say im the exception of the rule) what number of hours per month do you estimate to start becoming harmful for example to stress system?

It's not about "detoxing", since it's not a poison inside your system that has to come out. It's about physical brain changes that would be beneficial for us if we could reverse. Which we can if we stop using it. The malfunctioning stress system won't reverse with 8 hours of use per month I'm pretty sure (not once an addiction already is formed (we're not talking about non-adicts here) In fact, some experts argue that intermittent use can be particularly problematic for things like that. By using intermittently, you're in essence teaching the brain that it doesn't have to let go of the addiction, since it will always get its way eventually. So it might just make it cry harder for it. Look, I'm not trying to convince you of anything here, it's your life and your rules, but know that wishful thinking almost never works when it comes to addictions.
