How much should Keir Starmer spend on glasses?

Starmer received gifts of more than £18,000 to polish his image in the run-up to the election - including £2,485 on glasses. Really? Does this mean he’s a man who is more interested in style than substance? And does it mean he’s also a man willing to be in hock to his donors? None of this feels good about a new prime minister.

Th grassroots money that flowed into Corbyn's Labour is an example of donation(s) not bribes. Wealthy capitalists don't make donations, they make bribes

Large donations? Obviously just buying favour and influence. Small donations from mass membership? Money for old rope, since Labour have little intention of listening to the members any more.

Yeah, Starmer is a bit of a la-la person when it come to perks. He sends the signal, that he's for sale!! And with the salary that he receives; he has no need of perks and accepting such, doesn't improve the credibility of his his personality!!.

The man has no personality he’s as drab a grey doormat. His constant uturns highlighted a man of little character and no morals. While politicians may stand for something you don’t like or agree with they will be consistent in their points and belief in them. Unfortunately for the general public Starmer stands for nothing and his merry little bunch around him are about to unleash chaos upon the public that will make the Tories innings look like a picnic

Starmer is not a lefty, but he's certainly as corrupt as the tories. Obviously, the amount he's been gifted on freebies is far less than what tories and their friends received, but the principal is the same. I'm 70, my glasses broke so I used my previous pair and the leg fell off. I'm resorting to the glasses you buy for a couple of quid. I have cataracts, and the glasses now don't give me full vision, but I can't afford to buy another pair, and Sir Kid Starver gets donated his. He won't remove the 2 child benefit cap, yet he's getting freebies worth thousands. It's just not right

Well said Richard. Just saw this now, cheered me up a bit, thanks. My dear father a Labour voter in N E Eng, until T.Blair and Thatcher's New Labcons, used to say we'll be like a little America one day. He meant that politically those who could con and fool the people, by acting, their popularity based on persona an image, fakery, would be the deciding factor in who would take control of government. We are there now. Scary times ahead my biggest fear is Starmer forcing our young to fight in a proxy war, it won't take long and people will really regret voting for the right wing Labour party, yikes.

I work in an industry that prohibits benefit in kind greater than £150 and also has special roles regarding clients that are politically exposed. I spent £160 on a pair of reading glasses ( twisty/keep their shape, very thin lenses) over 12 years ago & luckily I can still use them but I regret spending so much. I try to get 2 for 1 or buy 1 get another half price. Surely Starmer can afford to buy his own spectacles & suits! Does he need to accept handouts for vanity sake? Having skimmed some results it appears that a lot of Labour wins were because the Tories lost votes to reform plc not because Labour got significantly more votes. That means their victory although good was built on defectors not wild enthusiasm for their policies.

There is not a single human that is not influence. What does matter is that the influence is good or bad. But, how do you define what is good or bad as it's a variable rather than a constance. A constant does not change its value as the equation is solved. A variable, on the other hand, changes its value depending on the equation.
