I get a lot of questions regarding my pond so I made this video today showing how the pond is designed to work from a natural creek w/ underwater video of fish and still frames of the work.

Man that is one cool stream system that runs through your garden and then even cooler ponds that is literally my dream to have a mini water way in my back yard.
@hansel20012 жыл бұрын
Amazing! Living the dream. Based on the narrow and shallow stream running through the various properties, the original source of the water must be a spring creek where flows and temps are constant throughout the year. There’s no way the original source of the water is a freestone stream in the Sierras where a rain could create flash floods through all the properties. The trout have it good; a spring creek with no natural predators. The fish are living the dream as well!

Awesome! That's a wonderful thing to have in the backyard - very soothing and relaxing. Now, all you need is a few more trees and some shrubs and flowers along the sides of it. Love the weeping willow tree! It's the only one you need. Any other trees you add should be different and smaller. I would landscape in front of the long strait part of the creek so that it doesn't show. I would want the focus to be on the wonderful ponds and winding section of creek. Thanks, for posting this! Great job all around!

He said the pond is about 25 feet x 15 feet x 3 feet which would be 7007.437 Imperial gallons but with the sloping edges its probably half that around 3503.7185 Imperial gallons, so yeah, definitely at least 3000 Gallons.

You’re very lucky to have that in your garden and it’s a nice pond. But if I was you I would have a pump in the bottom with hose running to the outlet side would just help keep it a but cleaner and you wouldn’t need a filter as you’re just running it all back into the creek. It could be as simple as a pump and hose but you would need a fair size pump for a pond of that size 👍🏼

This looks fantastic, how great it must be to have fresh trout always available. I'm watching this because the pandeimc has made think at some point in the future i would like to buy land somewhere, with a stream going through it, and try and be as self sufficient and I love eating trout and I was wondering how feasible that was. Your set up is very encouraging, especially those shots of those beautful fish at the end
@nativeeurope1299 Жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same thing after seeing a channel on youtube with a goldfish pond, I wondered how easy it would be to keep a fish that could be used for fishing and eating right in your own backyard. That would be pretty cool if you could keep trout the same way.

man i would have dug that thing 30 feet deep, sick af tho
@deanfirnatine78144 жыл бұрын
Wow your lucky, I assume its a little spring creek with consistent flow, no flooding or going dry. You may want to place some rocks etc lining the real creek to prevent erosion, obviously at some point people have dug a unnatural straight line for it to follow.
