Imo, the most interesting guest you've had so far. Having gone through manzai training and then making his living in the Japanese comedy world gives him such a unique perspective.

I've always found Nick's language learning journey interesting in how he decided to join a manzai school before he became fluent in Japanese. It very much feels like dropping a baby in the deep end of the swimming pool, except that it was completely conscious and intentional on his part. I hope to one day have his sort of commitment.

Wait we were both born in 1986? Jesus this dude likes like he's a good 10 years younger than me holy hell. What's his secret? Get him back on your show and ask him how he's pushing 40 and looks 24

Some of the older downtown shows are quite shocking, I was surprised that kind of stuff was ever allowed to be aired on TV. That kind of content still exists though it's just gone online shows like ダラケ and 田村淳地上波ではダメ絶対 are always a good watch.

I think the reason why Japanese people reacted so bad to Chris Rock's joke instead of Will Smith's violence is just because making fun of disease conditions is a big nono in Japan. Still, I believe that violence in public is way worse, but remember, Japan still has a death penalty, and ppl grew up with Jump heroes.. so unconsciously this concept of "violence could be justifiable for revenge" penetrated people's minds in Japan 🤷‍♂

so what you are saying is that making fun of people who stand out in anyway is what is comedy in Japan. sounds incredibly weak comedy and certainly problematic

Nick isn't dealing with reality. Matt's Japanese makes Nick look like he was dropped on his head shortly after childbirth.
