I'm honestly often astonished at how ppl can watch Nick's videos. They make me physically nauseated, like the sounds, all the screaming and drama, and the food. He needs some serious help and a long vacation from the platform. Thanks for making a comprehensive video on this whole thing without resorting to body shaming Edit: omg mom I'm famous! @@-Desire People conveniently like to forget that the whole reason why he left being a raw vegan in the first place was because he was deficient in a lot of essential nutrients that he needed. It's so much easier to use fatphobia to pretend he was ever healthy. He never was. What he did wasn't healthy and wasn't any better than what he's doing now. Just because he looked better doesn't mean he was healthier.

I love food, I love cooking and I've worked in hospitality, bars and kitchens my whole life, with a huge passion for ingredients flavours and food. I find mukbangs absolutely sickening. Like foul beyond belief. I can't see any love of food in them, they scream sadness and sickness. There's no passion, no care and no love in any of them. I find it difficult to understand what the appeal is in anyway. If you love food, you have to respect it. That requires you value yourself. You can love food and even be overweight, but force-feeding yourself to death is actively disturbing and should not be profitable or celebrated in any way.

I almost feel like it goes too far even for a simple humiliation fetish, though I agree with you on the other parts. The fact that he is very obviously fighting his partner as there is food dumped on him, act or not, makes it seem like there's more going on. Even if there isn't it's not a good message to broadcast. People can be into whatever they want, but the problem with the content is that there is harm being done, there's no point where they seem to genuinely have the other's best interest in mind, and there's no disclaimer or evidence in the same video to suggest that they made sure the other person was ok. Humiliation is one thing, but if you have to wonder if the people in question GENUINELY hate each other that's not ok. Edit: Grammar

The moment she said he had full scholarships and went to all these schools, and was even on the Dean's list, I immediately thought it could be gifted kid burnout. Like, as someone that has suffered it and has seen people tear themselves apart because of it, I feel like he was so caught up being a prodigy and being the perfect vegan and pleasing all these people that it just...broke him down. This is NOT an official diagnosis, but part of me strongly suspects it could be the case in my own opinion. The fact that he has depression and OCD and even ADD (like I do), it just...fuckin makes sense to me, just because I was also a "gifted kid" with ADHD (although undiagnosed till very recently) for the longest time. I started watching Mukbangs in 2016-17 when I was pregnant with my son. I had Hyperemesis Gravidarum which is severe nausea and vomiting that can last throughout the entire pregnancy (as it did for me). It’s a condition where many cannot eat or drink anything without vomiting and many need to be hospitalized for dehydration, nutrition supplements, some need to have picc lines placed for medication/fluids among many other medical treatments. I remember my longest hospital stay (3weeks) where I was so hungry but couldn’t eat so I went to KZfaq to watch other people eat. It was dreadful but those channels really helped me through a dark time. Seeing what Nick has done to himself is heartbreaking. I personally believe that Nick is a very intelligent and talented person with a very self-conscious sense of humour. What led to what we see now is his mental health issues that resulted in an addiction to YT “fame” and ED. He was being malnourished due to a very specific strict raw vegan diet first, and then proceed to be extremely overweight. I am living with ED myself for more than a decade and I may be wrong, but I think that even on his “better” pictures where he is thin and look happy he is deeply sad most of the time. 100% this - NEITHER lifestyle is at all healthy. I'll admit to having done this exact same cycle in university (very different circumstances, but unfortunately similar outcome). The malnourishment seriously screws up your metabolism - your body learns to conserve energy because it's used to not getting enough, so when you suddenly start eating all kinds of food that you haven't been eating before, you gain & retain weight much more easily. That's why crash/starvation diets don't work - your body learns to retain calories in the lean period, so when you start eating normally again, you just gain all that weight right back. It's not an easy cycle to break - and honestly, he's so far down the hole at this point, I don't know if it's even breakable.

I have friend who died from malnutrition from a vegan diet and he wasn’t restrictive except that he was vegan, (I would argue that veganism is an ED, although I respect your different view point on that.) His name was Marlo Ousterhouse (which is Dutch for Easter bunny❣️✨🙃) He got a type of scitzophrenia that is caused by a vegan diet that doctors don’t often mention anymore because vegans don’t want to hear it 9 times out of 10 (or more.) I had to watch a beautiful soul starve to death after having already watched his life fall apart: all from veganism. 🥺🤭😭 He went from a happily married father of 3, to a malnourished man in alone in a trailer, despite all his best efforts (he just couldn’t bring himself to believe the doctors that his diet was what was causing the issues, & blamed himself & just isolated more and more,😖😣😭) and then finally starved to death completely. It is because he is not here to speak for himself that I speak for him now. I apologize if this seems an unfair burden to share with you, but I assure you I only share this with you because I feel it is important wisdom that needs to be shared, especially in this context. What you are implying isn’t accurate, though I believe you about your personal experience; that is accurate, you are the only authority on your own life and I respect that and you. I truly wish you well in all your endeavours, you seem a wonderful person from what I’ve seen of your comments. 💖✨ Thanks for listening (if you chose to read this.) I'm in my 40's and battled with my weight all my life. The heaviest I have ever been was 295 pounds. During that time, I could out eat every one of these muckbangers in speed running record time. But with my battle with my weight came my battle with my mental health. I still battle my weight to this day. I lost 60 pounds before covid, then gainied 40 during covid, and currently working my way down, currently at 20 or so pounds lost. And still each day, I go to the gym or the pool to get my exercise and drink at least 2 of these 26 oz Yeti bottles of water, and still mentally fight the urge daily to chug a 2 Litre bottle pop and a full pack of double stuff Oreos. This damage doesn't go away, and I know I have done damage to my health that are for the rest of my life, but I still fight. And some days I'll win, and most days I lose, but it's a mental war I will continue to fight. So I know that even if Nick goes off KZfaq that struggle will continue until he gets real help, and I hope he finds it sooner rather than later. I hope that he will wake up and realize that all this is no longer worth it. I genuinely do. He needs to know that it's not too late. And the war will be ongoing for years, even decades, and I know this from personal experience, starting is the hardest part, harder than the relapses and bad food day judgments, and harder on those days where the finish line is nowhere to be found on Google maps. And I also know that people telling him the truth will put up that defense barrier and will remain in denial. It will sink in like a stone, I just hope that it's not too late.

Absolutely. As a vegan, it sickens me when ppl think of veganism as a "health diet", and take it to extremes, when in reality it's an ethical concept. It's for animals. It has nothing to do with health or losing weight. All the ppl who make videos "why I stopped being vegan" are generally the ones who thought that eating spinach goop with carrot juice is "veganism". When in reality it's just unhealthy diet. Veganism is just another biologically normal way for humans to eat. It's also not healthy just cause it's vegan. There is vegan junk food after all, saying it as I'm eating large pizza. There was a research that compared health markers of omnivores and vegans, and apart from vegans having lower bad cholesterol, there wasn't really any other differences.

(+if his doctors gave him any medical treatment/attention about his weight gain which they prob did considering his videos abt it). but honestly, his relationship with food is the root of the problem.

I read an interview with a girl who was suffering from anorexia and bulimia when she was a teenager, so around 2010, and she would basically spend all of her pocket money to buy candy for her siblings and watch them eat it, every single bite. I stopped watching around the time I decided to get better, but I've met a lot of people with Ed's who watch this kind of content for the exact same reason. Nowadays I only click on mukbangs where the person is eating healthy amounts of food, and shows an appreciation for it. When it was because my old man called me crazy for some many years that I decided to lean into it, or as a young man, doing anything to prove I was the craziest guy on the street, to becoming the monster people accused me of being, on & on, slowly killing the child I had once been, to match what people told me I was, if you tell yourself a story long enough, it becomes your truth. I think he has some pretty serious mental health issues happening (I also do) & he really should address that. It's not good for our bodies and especially Not good for our heart to have to work so hard because it is a muscle and it's trying to keep us alive and when it's surrounded by fat it just has to work that much harder. To the people who talk about how he used to be vegan: He wasn't extremely healthy back then either, not only physically, but mentally too. The vegan community on youtube was super toxic back then and a source of major stress for him. Additionally, raw veganism, although doable, can be very hard to pull off. KZfaq is a cesspool of making no sense. One of the true crime channels is having issues with KZfaq taking their stuff down even though the videos don't show any footage of crimes (some videos have crime scene photos but so do TV SHOWS and I've seen worse real crime scene photos on tv), but then KZfaq is fine with domestic abuse (which is being played for laughs maybe??) or the channels like 5 Minute Crafts which are aimed at children despite encouraging some really dangerous things (like cooking something in a toaster that's sideways, or microwaving eggs). Fuckin KZfaq.

But it’s hard to say where the line between his character stops and where his real life starts because he’s blended the two together so much that I don’t even think he is entirely sure where the line is exactly. That makes me even sadder about it. If he really was just this awful cruel lunatic it’s easy not to feel bad for the situation he’s in. as a plus-sized person, he is infuriating. the problem is people see this and assume this is how we all eat and this is how unhealthy we all are. so when they say, “it’s your fault” and harass the rest of us, this is what they mean. the health stigma around fatness is so incredibly difficult to navigate because doctors always assume we are like nik and eat over 10,000 calories a day. so we are often misdiagnosed or given less comprehensive treatment. the sad fact is that he is documenting this like it’s a game, and then all of these youtubers come on to say, “we’re worried because he’s glorifying obesity.” no, he’s glorifying a level of gluttony most of the rest of us do not participate in. for those of us who are healthy and large, we get skewered for this.

I think that is far more a telling pattern of behavior to discuss than speculations about his health or watching clips of a bunch of other KZfaqrs who all happen to be thin and also, oddly enough don’t know him personally beyond mocking him for other things, speculate on his health in relation to his body size. Nick is deeply problematic and is worthy of discussion but seeing people here in the comments and those other KZfaqrs (not CWHM) speculate and feign concern for him simply because he’s fat is highly disappointing. CWHM isn’t being shaming or fatphobic but all these people who have zero access to his medical records expressing “concern” simply because he is in a body that unsettled them personally is not the vibe for me.

@@Sarajean913 discussing the health issues he has disclosed and spoken about being related to his weight isn't speculation. I know some people do indeed speculate outside of that, though. It is ok to be concerned for someone who is choosing to gain weight when they have stated they have already caused health issues by doing so. The internet is going to discuss the most sensational parts of the story and of course the outrageous behaviour of a man who is choosing to make poor health choices takes precident over his abusive actions, sadly. He plays into and profits off a lot of negative and cruel stereotypes about fat people - the trope of a fat person bingeing a lot and claiming to not understand their weight gain, the "it's just water weight" denial. Yes, fat people are often treated poorly and it shouldn't be that way, but NA is complicit in upholding that very standard himself.

@@Natalie-wr3iz I am aware of that being how the internet is - I’m pointing out that isn’t how it has to be. Someone with a platform could actually do a lot of good dismantling the harmful fatphobic stereotypes about large bodies and myth that fatness equals unhealthy. People could be more responsible and simply not talk about his weight gain, because as you mentioned he is weaponizing his fatness. It is telling that after everything he has done, such as promoting abuse with his partner on screen or stalking someone, THIS is why people are suddenly super concerned. With the Stephanie Soo thing, some of these same people in the clips were like “I dunno, both sides blagh blagh, we can’t speculate, it’s not our place, he’s an actor so who knows what’s true”. But now that he’s fat and saying he has health issues, with a known history of constantly using toxic bullshit to get clicks, NOW it’s okay to take the situation at hand as true? Now it’s okay because they can pull the “I’m just concerned because of his health” even though they aren’t doctors, they aren’t weight specialists, and have no basis to medically diagnose him? (Again, want to reiterate that I don’t blame Cruel World Happy Mind, and I don’t think she is part of the problem. It’s the KZfaqrs in the clips she showed.) I’m aware that most people think fat = unhealthy, no matter how many studies come out that prove otherwise. I’m aware that saying you are concerned about someone’s health is generally seen as free pass to talk about someone’s body size. I know the internet is a toxic place and thanks to a billion dollar diet industry & for-profit healthcare system, fatphobia is so deeply ingrained in us. I know it runs deep and most people don’t even realize it. I know all this, that’s why I’m taking time to point out that maybe people can pause and ask themselves WHY all of a sudden they are concerned about a extremely problematic person who has a history of fabricating things in a dramatic manner. Why is it now, after every other thing he’s done was dismissed as drama, that there is concern? Especially when the drama is about his weight when like you mentioned, he is openly and purposefully playing into fatphobic stereotypes. That’s all, just wishing some people will have some self awareness of why now are we all concerned and what that means about our own internal assumptions about fatness and health.

I get what he was saying about it being hard to get into the business if you don't know someone, but he IS a talented violinist. I don't know why he couldn't just do something else with that. I mean KZfaq is full of different string quartets and stuff. Also I get that he wanted to be the pit orchestra for Broadway, but there are loads of community theaters that also use orchestras. Just seems stupid to go "well I can't be a Broadway musician because of nepotism, guess I'll make videos where I eat myself to death". I do think that despite what he says he's just spiraling downwards. He's pretending it's all an act so he can appear to be in control but he's just slowly losing it. Which is why it's nice that so many people seem genuinely concerned about him. But I'm not going to be surprised if/when we hear that he died of a heart attack at age 32 or something, unless someone slaps some sense into him soon.
