Know a guy name Ray, he was in nam. he told me about a situation where his best friend while there got taken out, the veitcong bum rushed a wall at their base , Base had an MG elevated but covered. MG lit up the group, someone called clear, so Ray's team went out there to check bodies. turns out a guy was just playing dead, popped up and shot Ray's best bud in the back of the Skull. they got the fucker but yeah, it clearly haunts him because he's told me that story like 5 times clearly not remembering he told me it last,always ends it with telling me how someone was yelling at the gunner "You were suppose to keep firing on them until you see chunks flying"...

If you look closely, you can spot the Vietcong soldier that hit him. He was waiting for that moment his entire life. That scene is why a lot of vietnam vets can’t forget their service because it didn’t feel real to them. Vietnam vets describe their service as a blurry nightmare hallucination because they saw things that are so messed up that they questioned if what they were experiencing was real.

the death at 2:00 in my eyes was genuinly depressing, i imagin by the way he talks, he is due out soon, he is a young 18 year old draftee, sent into a losing war, who more than anything just wants to see and hold his mom again, only to be shot and killed out of nowhere without warning, he will never get married, he will never see his mom again, he will only be remembered by the people who saw this boys life get snuffed out too soon right infront of them. sad thing is, i imagin this has happened on more than one occasion....its sad.
