They do exist, and they *suck.* They have a very small amount of flash memory (8-16GB), and once it dies, the entire drive goes with it.

They exist they are SSHD like seagates firecudas. SSHDs are hybrids between HDD and SSD its a HDD with a bigger Cache.

I gotta say, that customer service from best buy was pretty good, he offered to price match 2 weeks ago. At my local worst buy I was told to go kick rocks, when I asked them if they could price match last weeks price on a gaming monitor. I even called the customer service line and they said there was nothing they could do. All that shit for the price to drop a week later to the same price it was on sale.

The 750TI is a pretty good card, if you're on a budget. It's pretty good with a i3 8100, but it's not that good with a older i3.

That's actually a really good deal for what you got. I recently tried building a mid-ranged gaming pc, and when the parts were added up, I was paying over $800. That's quite a lot for mid-range specs. I ended up buying a HP Pavilion 690 series gaming PC (the mid-range version) and I paid ~$600 (on sale). The HP had way better components than what I was getting trying to build it myself. All I had to do with the HP was buy an SSD (I may also upgrade the RAM in tne foreseeable future). So deals do exist and you can actually getting something that's prebuilt with good performance.

I was subbed to Austin a few years back when I was building my first PC and one of his videos really helped me put it all together and know what direction I wanted to go. I bought my current gaming pc from Best Buy. It's from ibuypower. I bought it for 1299 in April 2019 and it came with 16gb of ram, an i7-8700, RTX 2070, and a 1tb SSD. It also came with a mechanical keyboard and a mouse that I never used since I bought razer stuff at the same time. I figured for 1299 that was a pretty damn good price for all that stuff and would be a nice entry point to get me into PC gaming.

I5 = 65w RX480 = 150w HDD = 10w The rest = 10w => 245w on peak. Well, 300w PSU sure can handle this, but I am much more cocerned about it's components quality.

PSUs in prebuilts are usually decent, and this is an 80+ Bronze unit and I'm sure it meets it's rating. I stuck an 8800 GTS 512 in an old HP with a 300W PSU and had 0 issues with it.

It could just be that the $1000 option you looked at included everything (monitor, keyboard, mouse). There's also the possibility that you are simply in a remote region - prices will be far higher in say, Hawaii, as opposed to Florida.

most companies inflate prices to an insane degree. Amazon is another example for this. They will legit charge you 1k sometimes for a pre-built PC with a 780ti. In 2018. The card is from 2011. Not that this is a bad card, I can even play games like Assassin's Creed Origins and Destiny 2 on very good settings, 1080p 60fps on my regular 780. But I should also mention that I've had this card for so long I know it inside and out, and I can manipulate the advanced graphics settings to match it's strengths and weaknesses. But still though, pricing on many retailers is crazy inflated.

Stop shopping at best buy. They sell only 2 sata cables and one cost 20 bucks for 1 set but micro center bot a 20 pack for 10 bucks. I went to best buy for a power supply and they only had 1 power supply. Plus they charge you 70 bucks to install ram. How do you charge 70 for a pushdown and click..............................................

The used market is your friend, I got a 2017 razer pro 17 with 1060 32 gigs ram and 120hz display for just a bit more money. It is also pretty easy to snag a decent grade business desktop at an auction and slap a GPU in it. You might have to get a PSU too, but it is really not that bad. I don't see any difference in the used market vs old shelf products when you normally do a fresh install and or an SSD upgrade anyways. This wasn't always the case, used to be older stuff +4 years was nearly useless, but even an i3 core is pretty useful. Gotta hunt down those market place treasures.

Ken, you really did a fine ass job! 2-3 years ago I purchased an IBUYPOWERPC ( I was a newbie and didn't have the knowhow). It had a GTX 960, FX6300, 8 GB of ram, and a 1tb hard drive. The fact you got a relatively modern i5 with an RX480 and a 1 TB SSD for $650 ( which is about the price for just the graphics card and SSD alone) is such an awesome deal!

"their job"... It's not a job, it's gambling. They're a bit like the assholes who drove our economy into the ground in Wall Street. "it's their job" except that when they "do their job", they screw over (inconvenience) the larger part of the population and aren't punished (like driving our economy in the ground for Wall Street or bloat graphics card prices). They deal in imaginary money, bloating up entities that shouldn't exist in the first place (bitcoin and stock), create bubbles that I hope pop soon. that's why they are referred to as "assholes"

Klaevin well I mean all money is imaginary, we assign value to each and every currency, but realistically if the people who assigned the currency disappeared (the US government falls and the dollar becomes worthless). Also you can not blame a man for doing something if it provides resources for him to survive, in this case, currency. Yea it sucks for gamers and the people who went to this level (buying prebuilts and taking the graphics out then reselling the machine for the same price since most don't know what a gpu is) is a total asshole, but gamers really are the niche market, as graphics cards companies are like "1050ti will run all your games and a 1080 or higher if you need 4k"

I bought a cyberpower pc from best buy, It has an AMD R7 3700x with liquid cooling aio, 16gb ram, and AMD Radeon Rx5700 XT for $1050. Those parts put together on pcpartpicker cost $1300. There are really good deals if you look hard enough.

I bought an HP Omen from Walmart for $750 a few years ago, it has an i7 and GTX1070. Still runs games coming out these days at 60fps 1080p on max settings.
