I started recording our public child exchanges to protect myself from false allegations and during one of the exchanges our son started telling me all sorts of bad stuff his dad said and did. I had recorded from the moment i was arriving til after I left. It was clear he had just come back and no coaching was involved. I used it in court. Judge didnt care much about it but with all the other piles of stuff she did eventually care because its little pieces like that that make it clear about whats going on.

Great to see a new video from you Wendy! You're right, it's best not to coach/lead kids into responding in a way that would help your case because more often than not, it could backfire. But more importantly, no kids should ever be put through that. My ex was successful at stopping her 1st ex husband from getting 50/50 by manupuling her kids, because she wanted the max child support. But now their kids are young adults and they know the truth. It eventually comes around. As for me, I'm very lucky, I've had full custody of our daughter for a couple of years now..

I was a very involved Father and primary caregiver for my daughter’s first five years then 50/50 for 7 more. An ex-girlfriend who I didn’t live with me attacked me in the street and was arrested for DV so my Ex used that against me as a parent even tho we had good relations for the last 7 years. In the end of trial I lost my 50/50 because of the Ex-girlfriend’s behavior on one single night (no pattern) and got an extremely limited time and extremely difficult Parenting Plan despite the child’s wishes to see her Father more written over text. The Courts allowed my Ex to turn my child into a weapon putting her in the middle while simultaneously claiming “best interests”. How do I get her back?? Seems hopeless. Seems to me you can be a great Dad and the courts will use any excuse they can to push a Father out of his child’s life.

You must be in Texas or Florida. This issue happens to women too which is why so many women stay silent. The child protection people and courts in those states will blame the victim for being in a toxic relationship and label them as unfit. It’s ridiculous. You need a good attorney.

Washington actually. Yes I felt revictimized by Family Court. Makes no sense. While I should have ended the relationship earlier, still I can’t control the random behavior of others. Had I done anything other than walk away to try and stop her no doubt I would have been arrested myself.

File a modification. If you have visitation, write a declaration explaining your relationship with your daughter since the incident. Also, since that DV case if you completed any classes or paid dues include that in your declaration as well. Communicate with the other parent your interest to participate in school meetings and medical appointments.

Oh my gosh! She’s back! Doesn’t matter much now. My kid is 19 and her mom successfully brainwashed her. No contact for a couple of years now. Hopefully this info will help someone else.

Hey wendy, I just found your channel. Im in michigan, and Im on the fence about filing to modify our parenting days. As it stands we do 4433 with an as parties agree status on the days. This was started when our child was 1.5 years. It really was the best plan as I took TWT mom has FSS and we alternate mondays. We did this as Mom worked a 9-5 weekdays.. so I was fine giving her her days off on Sat/Sun. Because I work in ems and could work a 48 hr shift on weekends and have child during the weekdays bypassing the need for daycare.. Fast forward to now child is in second grade now. And Id want to go to a 5 on 5 off schedule because my time is all bussiness ...routines.. school. Extra cirriculars.. and There are no full days for us to do anything. My child gets upset when its day 3 cause she feels like she just got here. And always asks me to ask mom for just one more sleep. I feel this is wearing on our bond that I have all the raising our child all week and were always on a schedule. And mom gets all the free to do whatever weekends. What kinda chance would I have to make this happen? Or advice and tips. Mom refuses to budge on the matter.. she is fine with doing a switch here and there.. and there is no conflicts with her schedule... she just wants all weekends. And my daughter wants to do more and more extras.. dance...gymnastics.. scouts.. soccer and tennis. Which 90% fall on weekdays.. i dont want to fight in court but i think it has to come to that at this point. I just dont wabt to trigger a war but Its not easy having all the weeks and we never get a weekend to just do something .. any thoughts would help. Thank you. And i love your feeds!

What happens if the Father wasn’t present during the birth and met the child at 5 and a half years old? The child is now 8 and spends 5 days every fortnight in his house. But the child hasn’t been happy about it and constantly asking not to send him to his dads. His Dad also has a toxic personality. How should I manage this?

The judicial system is very very odd. It would be so much simpler if the judges simply spoke with the child. The reason is that the middle person hired by the court is an extra attorney expense for both sides not to mention some judges suggest therapist thay chathe insane amount hourly to be hired. I know of a person where the middle persok assigned by the court juiced them for months for money although they wanted to stay with one if parents and had already spoke to the judge. That middle person had a reputation for milking parents since they know both sides will have to provide unlimited funds. The parents can’t argue because the person is assigned by the court. In short, it can be so simple if the system was more efficient instead if draining parents financially over something that could have been decided in simple methods.

How would you advise a parent handle it when one of the children is over 18 and graduated high school but still lives at home? Less in terms of the court but in terms of the child's best interest and preventing putting them in the middle.

If the children are telling me how they have been coached or how the ex and her current boyfriend are fist fighting. How do I prove that in court with out the children out right saying it.

If you have a narcisstic ex and the video of you recording your child is very helpful in proving that and only way to prove that to the court, i really dont see why it’s such a big deal to record. It seems the court or system is more stuck on getting offended of you as a parent recording your child, which most parent don’t really want to but have to out of neccessity of proving something that can’t be proven without the recording. Some of these recording can be life changing for you in a case if it’s coming out of your child own words of how they feel and what’s they’ve experienced with the other parent. It seems the judicial system likes to contradict itself by permitting to speak with a child, but not hear what they just said behind closed doors to the other parent that they trust to share the information with. In short, courts shouldn’t concentrate on that a child is being recorded or not and more about the substance of the recording if it benefits the child or is in “the best interest” of the child.

One way to NOT get your child’s wishes know to the court, IS Make up false “suicide attempts and ideation” of the child if they have to visit other parent.” Well, it would get a judges signature and change the current orders, So maybe if you’re manipulating the court that’s what you want to do… Takes extensive litigation from there by the other party and maybe bleeds them dry of all their money. Maybe that is a way?! Hope you don’t get away with it. Unfortunately, that’s me, I haven’t seen my daughter in a year and a half because of this manipulation and I’m thinking about giving up as a dad, ironically right around Father’s Day
