@marydavey56137 жыл бұрын
yes it certainly is !!!! wouldn't you think a SMART DRIVER would have known to at least check for the tarp???
@AllenFarlow7 жыл бұрын
You'd be surprised how easy it is to forget to open your tarp. That driver won't forget again! And yes, I'm surprised his tarp didn't collapse or rip. I work at a Cargil plant and know how much that corn weighs. I shovel it every day by hand. He has about 1,500 pounds on his tarp.
@CAoffRoading7 жыл бұрын
Woody German key phrase "honest work". Just because someone works with thier hands does not mean they are dumb or uneducated. Not everyone wishes to be in an office. I have a degree in computer science. Worked in the IT industry for a few years and hated it with a passion. Wound up working the ocean as an engineer aboard a boat. Back breaking labor, very very long days, hot dirty and load working conditions; but I loved it. What's more I was well compensated for it. Do not judge a man by what he does to provide for those he loves because to do so is not the mark of a man. Rather respect him for doing so and providing for you a service that you clearly seem to think you are too good for.
@AllenFarlow7 жыл бұрын
Yes, I do and yes, I did. Even went to Yale University (Did you?) Plant maintenance includes taking care of spills from silos and you can't get a bobcat into every nook and cranny. It still has to be picked up. (And by the way I also drove tractor trailer for quite a few years and loaded feed at the Cargil plant, just like the guy in the video. Of course, I never forgot to roll my tarp open before pulling under the chute...) I've done quite a few things in my life, even making $1,500 - $1,800 every weekend (in cash by the way) as a flea market vendor. Owned my own business. If there were every-weekend flea markets where I now live I'd still be doing that because it pays better than Cargil. I hope you stand corrected.

You mean like a gravity reversing button? Some times things cant be stopped in an instant. Peter Welch I was thinking of an Iris valve. Leaving the tarp on is dumb, however I can foresee a raggedy hopper trailer with a defective bottom door leaking all over the floor. I see lots of time to be wasted in order to clean a big mess.

Why between 4 and 5 pm was there not an operator or some terminal employee on site to help prevent he very thing that happened in the video? I do not understand why there seemed to be no stop switch for the trucker to activate? I under stand that what ever was there is going to dump given it is a gravity system. Why should the trucker be the one to activate the load system and be able to Emergency stop it? I clearly do not work in the industry that is in this video. That is probably why I have so many questions.

Hell, why were they having a truck driver, instead of a grain company employee, operate their equipment in the first place - an employee trained in how to properly shut off the hopper? Perhaps he didn't intend to fill at that moment (until he got the tarp off), but hit a button by mistake. Or perhaps he was so distracted figuring out the equipment, he simply forgot the tarp.
@terrencesauve6 жыл бұрын
Depends, some elevators operate 24/7 and they dont always have staff to watch who unloads. My father always loaded his truck at the same plant (not grain but something else less valuable), so mistakes not as frequent. Good video surveillance makes good insurance claims I guess!
