I have a bonded pair and a nest box, the female is fertile but seems to be choosing to wait until winter has passed to mate, in the mean time the male has been mating with the top of my curtain every day 😐

My budgie laid 7 eggs, first three she (or the male?) destroyed. I was thinking that maybe it was my fault because one of the 3 was outside the nest but not destroyed and i put it back thinking it was an accident or something and wasn’t sure if they know so soon if it’s infertile, so maybe it irritated them. The next 4 were a sucess and we have 4 chicks now 3-9 days old 😊

I have exciting news re my adorable English Geoffrey ! today he worked out how to get out of his cage, and back in again ! I am thirilled the weeks of training him have worked out. he now is his own guy xxx He knows !! I left the door open all day, and he was in and out at his will, this is exactly what i wanted xx He knew where is water and food was, and we had a great day together. Now to get him eating fresh..but..one step at a time, and with him being out for at least 5 hours todday, at his own will, this made me very happy xxx Progress xxx Your video have helped me a great deal..to help me have a confident healthy guy xxx

They are so cute taking little samples of your chop.I might say they that they all seem very well behaved.Each bird is doing his or her own thing on the chop. I had breeding pair once mother was 8 and father was 1 when having babies had clutch of 4 only 3 were fertile got 2 albinos out of 3 was shocked to get albinos tbh first time breeding but had birds for most of my life I was very worried about the mother and babies sadly the father died last Oct we don't know why he died tho he went to the vet and everything all I can do it thank there father for giving me babies because I ended up with the cutest albino baby the albino babu I kept had semi curcked beak but eats very well the eldest baby had week different in age from the 2 albinos was surprised mother took to the other babies the mother was far biter but I kept her anyways I didn't want to give up on her I'm vet tech student/ animal nurse student that wants to specialize in birds

I’ve been inspired by your videos. It’s been three years since I started raising four budgies (3 females, 1 male). Your videos have been very helpful to be because they are quite informative and inspiring. A couple among my budgies started showing signs of wanting to mate so I moved them into a separate house. Now, the hen is laying eggs (5 as of yesterday). Given your extensive experience in caring for budgies, please give me tips on diet/food and bedding materials for the nesting box. Thank you.

Ok thanks I need this cuz I keep a male with my female budgie during the daytime at night I move the male to the other cage at night I have 4 birds BTW ik your thinking why not put them all in one cage? Well one of my younger birds keeps fighting with my old bird I get worried they may hurt each other my male is idk how old but his cere is purple-blue so ik its male they try to feed each other they are so soo cute! I may update on them but I'll be busy ( edit: MOM IM FAMOUS!!)

I have two eggs here and no idea when she laid them or what to do but she finished carving out her log nest on Friday that was a week ago and I just noticed her unresponsive to me being by the cage this morning I thought she was dead she was just laying on her eggs being protective

It's my budgie's first time laying an egg, but she laid them in the bottom of the cage and it ended up cracking. How do I make it lay on the nestbox instead of the bottom of the cage?

if only 2 birds in cage male/female. seems they go to highest nest. if their is a second area she destroys it. I used 2 marbles in box so she layed and sat on the marbles. dont put anything in the box plain wood. female cleans house throws out any wood,pellets and eggs if u touch them. hard part is leave them alone. dont keep looking in the box. i look quick change water everyday try not to disturb the female.

hi Alen @Alen AxP my budgie had given about 5 eggs but unfortunately only left 4 eggs since she has eaten her one egg. the question is she is not compiling all her eggs together to incubate where she is only sitting with 1 egg. the rest of the eggs were here and there. and she is bumping again I think so, where they mated twice again after the 3rd egg given by her. I am just worried that she is not sitting with all of her eggs or she just waiting for her clutch to reach then she will sit is it? or can the eggs hatch without incubation? she is always in her nest inside for most of the day and night too @Alen AxP

Please don’t EVER pick up the eggs or the new born baby budgie. She will smell your scent and abandon her babies, or kick the egg out of her nest. This forces her to start over again, which can be unhealthy for the mama. It’s likely to happen, even tho this video shows him doing it and it appears things work out, but still, don’t risk it. Leave her alone Anna don’t stress her out. Feed her, clean the cage, and that’s it.

I just buy a mele/boy in 2 years old and sold his friend because one of mele/boys I got was too old and was about to die and I do not want my budgies see one die front of them because of age when they are young. Left my famle/girl out of cage and she start to hunt/run after my new mele/boy and she is 9 month old soon and her nose went completely brown and want to meeting with boy but he runs awey. I trained the boy and got him to be on my shoulder over hours and stays on my finger for a long time and eat during and loot of stuff doing front of my face after 2 days. Have him about one week and will feed them with egg a d rabbit so they can get in to breathing mode :) It's lite bit erly for my girl to get baby's but the boy runing awey and not interested. Time will tell

Wow interesting video!😉 I'm a new parakeet mom. I have twin white female parakeets that I think are sisters. They are around 4 months old and very bonded. I received them as a Christmas gift from my BF, he told me he got the parakeets from PetSmart. Will they lay unfertilized eggs seeing I have no male? Can I ever add two males? My 2 female birds made a lot of eggs underneath my curtains in my living room. ( it the corner of the room) They have been sitting on them for 2 months now! Day and night, only come out for a few minutes at a time, just to eat! Is that safe? How do I get my bird back? Ok I really need some help with this one. So I have 3 female budgies and 2 of them seem to “love” each other as if they were a bonded pair and not even 5 mins ago I saw eggs in the box I put in the cage. Now I’ve seen them “try” to mate however I didn’t think it was possible for them to lay eggs. I used a light on the eggs and I only see a little yellow dot inside the eggs anyone else have some advice on what I should do or have experienced this?

Wait, don't feed them bread or wet bread unless they're pigeons. Feeding bread to budgies can kill them

You can feed them carrot or apple just make sure to cut them in very small pieces so it'll be easy for your birds to eat. If you think this will kill them, then just feed them seeds and water

I also have problems with mating pair! They had 7 eggs, all hatched, then 3 eggs 2 hatched. Help! Now 6 eggs! I have 12 budgies . I can't separate the pair, they love each other x4 years.. My budgies give 6 eggs, n all hatched successfully now i have 6 baby and 2 adults. My question is now they want continuous food i provide them corn, coriander, palak n their seeds. Is it normal?? They are eating too much
