Absolute History

Күн бұрын

The British dynasty on which Game of Thrones is based is skilfully brought to life. Following one of the most shocking periods in British history, a new historical docu-drama brings to life the dynasty that dragged Britain out of the dark ages and into the modern world.
Ruling the country for over three hundred years, ruthlessly crushing all competition, The Plantagenet story is more shocking, more brutal and more astonishing than anything you’ll find in Game of Thrones. Presented by acclaimed historian Dan Jones, the Plantagenets combines his scintillating story-telling with drama reconstruction and brings to life a dramatic and bloody time in England’s history. This is history like you’ve never seen it before. Dan delivers his extraordinary take on one of the most visceral and violent chapters in British History.
Episode three reveals the single minded obsessions of Edward II, eventually throwing the country into an age of cruelty and revolt.

More like "friends with benefits" but I would like to prefer to say that they were lovers such like Achilles and Patroklos, but I wonder why it still in 21 century it seems so hard to speak it out that (at every time like a play of nature) a certain percentage of human pupolation had been hay, and sure that includes Edward the II like today's football players... So, what's the problem guys, don't you think that it's obvious (with Edward II.)??

A MESSAGE to ABSOLUTE HISTORY: I am quite sure that you intended this documentary to be informative in every way possible. HOWEVER: There are numerous parts in which the "drumming of the music" and the "cries of the scenic drama" drowned out the narration. If this were rated at 10 stars tops, at best I could only give it "3-stars" at best. Please ... fire your sound editor and hire a new one. I'm sure I would have thoroughly enjoyed this ... but I didn't.

Watching history played out like this makes reading textbooks bearable. Amazing enactment.....and what an amazing thing to be a member of a royal family. What a privileged, horrible life. On another note from another continent, what unhappiness lay in waiting for Israel when they went to Samuel and told him they wanted a king like other nations. (1 Samuel 8:5 and on) What unhappiness lay in store for them.

I find it interesting that Edward’s humiliating defeat at the hands of the Scots at Bannockburn had a lot to do with the failure of many English barons to even show up for battle. It wasn’t all on Edward’s presumed incompetence as a battlefield commander. Of course, the Scots had a say, as well.

ATTAINDER. US Constitution Art I, Sec 9, 3: No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed. Not all individual rights are in the Bill of Rights. But this bit of legalese causes Americans to scratch their heads and move on to readable parts. Piers Gaveston was *attainted* by clause 20. Clause 20 was a bill of attainder. So this clause of the Constitution says a law should never single someone out.

Also, watch the episode of “Who Do You Think You Are” with Courteney Cox…she is also descended from Roger Mortimer via one of his daughters who married Thomas Berkeley of Berkeley Castle. They delve into this whole story in her episode.

I think that the Tudors were also horrible. King Henry the VIII was a tyrant who murdered two of his wives because they couldn't produce male heirs. His grandmother killed those 2 York Princes. I think Richard the third got a bad rep from them.

@@311girl Throughout my life, I've always found it's women who react most to sex in media/film... Even back in Uni when I was a substantially large dealer, I had a large segment of people to draw my conclusions from, and it was only women who would pick up and leaf through the nudie magazines I used for cutting up, making "flaps" for drugs to be packaged off in.. For males having 7-8 times the testosterone, we sure keep in in check more, for the most part...

Gaveston was his lover. They deeply loved each other. Stop constantly straight washing history. Edward didn’t constantly make terrible political decisions and eventually lose his crown for his “friend”, that’s stupid as fuck. He did it for the love of his life.

Can anyone clear up for me why they're speaking French in England? I don't know a lot about history but I know the "French don't like the English and vice versa " trope...so seeing English Kings speaking French is confusing. Was French a language of the nobility at the time, or ?
@mumto2monsters737
@mumto2monsters737 2 жыл бұрын
After the Norman Conquest, and even a bit before (Edward the Confessor spent time in France when in exile), French became the spoken language at court due to the Norman Conquest and the barons becoming the major land owners. Edward I spoke some English, but the majority of the time French was spoke because the Normans and Plantagenets were essentially French and not English.
