Hey guys and welcome to Get Overpowered Early With CARDS
Getting Squall overpowered early is something that is constantly talked about and shared, but i've noticed that not a lot of people actually realize the steps needed to get there. In this episode of How To: Final Fantasy 8, I show one of many ways to get Squall incredibly powerful, with less than an hours work (using speed boost).

I've spent about 180 hours in FF8, and only just found out you can fast travel in the garden!?!?!?!? WTF?!?!?!?

Other good cards to help is to card a bomb in the fire cavern, a t-rexuar (will turn into its own card and a small chance of turning into a shumi tribe card), a bite bug (small chance of turning into an elnoyle card), and caterchipiller (small chance of turning into a trauma card). I usually end up with a starting game hand of ifrit, trauma, bomb, t rexaur, and either a elnoyle card (random other card if I don't manage to get elnoyle)

This is great advice too! Just one correction, the Elnoyle card you're talking about is actually an Elvoret card. Same enemy type, but the Elvoret is the boss version

The best you can do in this game is playing cards and use the Card command on every monster you encounter and keep your level as low as possible until you get cactuar. Then use his abilities that gives a bonus to your stats and level up to 100 two guys at the time (The second one with the bonuses of Ifrit, Carbuncle, Siren, Leviathan, Brothers) If you keep your level low you can have like round about 85 bonus so you don't have to devour very much to get to 255 for each stat.

@@TomVsGamingI want to see that for one of my characters. I just started a new playthrough of ff8 for my actual ps1. God do I love that game. The ps1 had the best turn based rpgs.

Thanks for the vid brotha! 🤙🏽 I followed all the steps, so hopefully the rest of the game will be a breeze. Im completely new to FF8, so the process actually took me 3.5 hrs haha

@@thelastofitskind3034 the changes to core established norms. Like not earning money after a battle, only 1000 exp to each level up ( this had to be the biggest imo) the level scaling ( made worse by the very easy lvl ups, could still be great if harder level ups) having to draw your magic(everyones a mage now it eliminated the character class) these 4 things I don't like and wish could be changed. But everything else I do like alot. I dont even entirely dislike the above 4 things and in some ways I do kind of enjoy. There was alot of versatility in character creation with the junction system. Also triple triad is a awesome card game

Trust me, I never used to do it for too long because I could never get enough Abyss Worms without taking hours and hours. So now instead, I just limit myself to about an hour of Triple Triad at the start of the game! That way I can get a decent amount of cards ready to mod once I unlock Card Mod, and I also don't have to spend too much time doing it. Then k just go with whatever is available. Also helps that I'm a Triple Triad addict 😅

It really doesn't! If you don't enjoy triple triad then it's a bit of a slog but it can also just be fun

Personally I prefer waiting on Triple Triad until you get Diablos, since with Diablos' and Siren's refine abilities and three more rare cards available at that point, there's a LOT more you can do. Quake, Regen and Death are easy enough to get. Pain and Meltdown isn't much of a pain, but if you feel like grinding you can get a full set of Full-Life and Flare as well at this point. You should also get Break if you're planning a low-level play through.

Either way is incredibly good. Gets you in a position where you can just cruise and enjoy the story. Not having to worry about difficult enemies getting in the way of your enjoyment. Junctioning correctly and being almost immune to Marlboros Bad Breath is one of the finer things in life!

Wait, how can you get a full stack of Full-Life and Flare at disc 1? I'm asking because I tried myself and didn't manage to in the slightest (yeah, I'm aware you can get 10 Flare refining the Ruby Dragon card, but it takes 10 cards for 10 Flare and they're not so commonly played, sadly, at least inside Garden)

@@TomVsGaming the only ways I'm aware of is either draw them from King Tomberry (you can get it on Disc 2, and you need to be Lv30 or higher) or card modding Phoenix, which is unobtainable until disc 3 I'm afraid, and you still have to complete the queen of cards quest

Actually from memory, you can get full life from card modding Chimera Cards! 10 Chimera cards is 20 full lifes but you need to get Siren first!

i prefer meteor or flare on my strength junction it need rubydragon cards as i grind it ang get it together with punishment sword from squall. im almost OP in the beginning of the game back then so nostalgic.🥰🥰

No tricks, certain npcs such as the one at the reception desk play them so it's just a case of playing over and over to get the cards. If they aren't playing them, make a save, reset and try again. You'll eventually get them

It's completely random and sometimes the "All" rule only ends up lasting about 4 games before you have to set it again. It's not absolutely necessary but it speeds things up big time!

That and eventually the ALL rule can become the USELESS Direct rule and you do NOT want to play the CC Club members on DISC 2 onwards WITH direct that's why I won't ever use the All rule at all.

With the quality of life extras in the remaster (3x speed boost) you can definitely get this done in 2-3 hours.

@@TomVsGaming I'm doing it right now in the original version. trying so hard to love this game, but between the impossible to understand juction without help and the impossible to beat first bosses (mechanical spider and t rex) this game just has problems. I can't get into it

@@fantasmarobatortas5 Once you get past the initial learning curve, It will open up for you! Like the rest of the FF games, once you learn the basics, everything else just flows!

@@fantasmarobatortas5 junction is easy if you take time to understand it and never complained as some whiny haters of FFVIII system. for me its good and flexible. i able to tailored my characters to a certain boss fights and enemies for easy win and not having hard time. as for x-ATM092 boss battle . the 1st encounter is not gonna beat it. you need to escape. the 2nd time you encounter it you must have high str. stat on squall to be able to deplete its HP. cuz it regenerates you need to spam high damage to be able to defeat it. you need to prepare your party for that.

Although this isn't necessarily a positive comment, I'm honoured! Primalliquid is a creator I've taken a huge influence from. However, I am working on building the channel to rival his content as opposed to being a copy paste channel. Hopefully, I can prove that with future content!
