Best skate vid. So, true story here. I lived in Rome from 2002-2005. One night, went to dinner with a bunch of friends, showed up a bit late, and the only seat open was across from this blond guy. I hadn't seen his face yet, but when I sat down and looked up, holy shit. It's Owen Wilson. We had a blast that night, and then started hanging out almost every night for a couple months. He was filming The Life Aquatic at the Cinecitta studios. The narrator is right. Owen just has such a great vibe about him, and he's a ton fun to hang with. I was bummed when the film wrapped and he had to leave. Fast forward to when i moved back to the USA in 2006, and picked up a copy of Yeah, Right. I texted him when i saw this part, and he laughed his ass off. Said he had such a great time filming this segment. He told me his favorite parts were the unscripted ones. I hope this story didn't make any of you fall asleep.

One of my friends in high school (almost 20 years ago) used to skate and film all the other skaters... constantly. Made edits, added music and showed them to everyone before YT was really a thing. The dude now has worked on multiple marvel projects and did a good chunk of the Daredevil series on Netflix. Skating produces some of the most creative people i've ever met.

I was just talking to someone last night about how i regret never getting into filming skating. I used to (and still do) film all the events and socials we go to for edits, and also have skated for the last 25 years, but the two never overlaped. None of the people i regularly hung out with were that into skating, and i didn't tend to socialise much with the local skate scene so there was never really anyone around for me to film

Wowsers! I remember when skating got big in the mid 80s, when wide board first became popular 😅 It's weird how every generation thinks they saw the beginning of something. Back in the 60s and 70s skating had other big moments with the skinny boards...

@@Theduckwebcomics this time period was when movie actors like owen wilson were doing skits for skate videos. Also pros like bam margera now had their own mtv shows and movies. Also the tony hawk pro skater games were incredibly popular. Chad Muska was dating a socialite in Paris Hilton, so he was crossing over into the fashion world. Even if u didnt give a fuck about shit like that u still rooted for Muska just cuz he was a skater. This time period was special for sure

It might be scary to post on this channel because you feel like you have to do great, but honestly, it’s just a youtube channel. And it’s your personal youtube channel at that. So if you bomb on the next video, you haven’t lost anything. At worst, you gain a hobby and personal project, or you move on. No one is waiting for you to fumble; you have no haters. If you're still in your twenties and you're not overweight, you can definitely skate. You don't have to do any tricks just get confident at riding and pushing at different speeds and turning. Most of the fun is being confident in simply riding fast. I knew people who could do all sorts of tricks but could not ride like I did. If you've never skated before it's awkward but you will quickly get comfortable at it, then practice turning quickly by slightly picking up the front of the board and pivoting to either side. One fun thing to get good at is doing 180's by simply dragging one end around while riding. If you have no friends to skate with like the good old days, it's ok to skate alone with some music. I started in my driveway, learned to Ollie in my garage lol anyway I'm reminiscing now lol take care.

As a longtime skater, and enthusiast, let me tell ya, it's not as easy as it looks. A ton of trail and error but the rush you get when you land that trick is euphoric! Wipeouts suck though, especially when you compound fracture your arm like I did. Lol!
