Hello and welcome back to EFD Explained where today we are profiling the man behind Milan’s resurgence as a footballing force, Paolo Maldini.
Not satisfied with being considered one of the greatest players of all time and gazing at his 5 Champions League winners medals, Maldini has set about transforming Milan in his role as Technical Director. Targeting younger, hungrier players, the Rossoneri have built a squad the envy of world football which seem to be establishing Milan as an Italian powerhouse once again.
How did he do it and what are his secrets? This video aims to answer both...

@@UnknownDino There are two Baresi's brothers who played football at high level: Franco (tied to AC Milan) and Giuseppe (tied to Inter). You are likely thinking about Giuseppe. Franco is Honorary Vice-President at AC Milan.

Real Madrid and AC Milan were arguably the 2 best teams in the world back in the early to mid 2000s; We need those times back because I cant witness English dominance anymore.

Respect. And it is obviousely the same from us too. If you have to name one club per major championship with the strongest and best european history, you already have them: Real Madrid for Spain, Milan for Italy, Bayern Munich for Germany and Liverpool for England. Such huge matches were played between these teams, so many legendary names went through them. Ac Milan are not quite at the level of these clubs right now, but they are bouncing back. We will make history together again soon

I like how Historic club like AC Milan, Ajax and Benfica have all adjusted to stay competitive ( Or become competitive again) by turning to smarter recruitment and better financial management. I do hope Milan return to their past glory in 2-3 years' time. They are in a period of cutting debt and rebuilding for now. Patience is the key to this project

Benfica is a different story pal, they owner takes almost everything out of the club the key reason they stay so competitive however is due to how poor the league is. Ajax i'm acc looking forward to, they are keeping their best players and under Ten Hag I think they can be outside winners for the UCL this season with a golden generation this decade

Paolo Maldini has Milan in his heart, in his blood and in his name. He will always choose the best for the club above money or politics. This fact alone makes him special and reliable. Besides that ,he's got so much experience as a player and as a captain of the team. And last not least - his brain works very well, every word he speaks make sense, he can make his vision clear and realistic. And he makes it possible to dream big again ....impossible to find someone dong better than him.

Maldini also decided to believe in Pioli instead of going for an expensive coach that would force them to overspend. It was a gamble but it's paid off big time

Great vid guys - as a Milan fan nice to see you put out a video in us explaining the resurgence, the club and team are still in the rebuilding phase. However, there is clear growth and the right signs for the club to really get back where it belongs. Maldini....I have lost superlatives to describe the great man, so glad he is with us from a management perspective the man is Milan personified. I was a fan of the club...when I was little.. In fact ac Milan was the very first club I knew of. I didn't even know Juventus but knew inter.. I'm glad they are gradually creating a dynasty... Hope the spirit of the champions league remember them. They are one of Europe's royalty...not all these oil fed clubs.. Welcome back AC Milan.

Very good video, but not great considering 2 aspects. 1) Leao has also been a revelation this season, he should be mentioned. 2) XG and expected points to tell the story of Milan at all. Milan doesn't try to play all out vs mid,low table teams rather they try to score and manage the game to spend few energies especially considering the harsh UCL group. If small teams grind xg in the last 20-30 minutes of the game because they are w goals down doesn't make much difference does it?! Sure sitiations like Sassuolo or Udinese happen where the xg conceded is totally deserved but that isn't the norm.

Milan went from having some interesting players that collectively underperformed to now looking like a more complete squad domestically. Hopefully this season’s European’s failure can inspire them to come back stronger (finally) on that front.

What a legend. In the 1980s he was already instrumental (with Baresi) in taking Milan from chaos to worldwide acclaim. They were in an even more desperate state in 2019, yet Maldini has accomplished so much already. A man with loyalty, dignity and competence. It is not easy to make the transition from club legend to backroom: Nedved for example is a legend for Juve fans, but as part of the staff he's been responsible for a lot of bad decisions.

3 months on from this video with 8 games left in the season and a 3 point lead over a Napoli and 6 point lead over Inter, the scudetto in their hands to win or lose. What a miraculous win it would be if they pull it off. Forza Milan!

Us Milan fans are starting to get some pride back with this current team. Rafa Leao, Sandro Tonali and Theo have been excellent so far this season. Long may it continue and we keep unearthing young talent on a budget. We can be proud we have a club that practices what it preaches. While Juventus and Inter made huge outlays on Vlahovic and Gosens at the risk of further financial bumps in the road later on, we go about our business of winning and setting an example for other top clubs. Rossonero pride!

Immediately, AC milan need an experienced centre attacking midfield and a center defense midfielder, will play with Tonali, and every midfielders should build up a chemistry of center attack as like as side attack. There have a lack of finishing skills in the box by midfielders. I said on the basis of the last few matches.

Milan will never see a better defender italy wont make a more perfect defender there are some great defender's who have won many trophie's , however the best thing to win as a player is fan's heart's from all team's by the desire passion an talent you display in that shirt . AC Milan's new glory days are yet to come, trust me! It won't be long till we see them lifting trophies again, most of all, the 8th UCL! Mark my words, 2 or 3 more years and you'll see the results! I'd only wish they abandon the idea of moving to a completely new stadium (I don't care how modern and prestige it would be), when they could buy out San Siro only for themselves and renovate it just the way Real Madrid are doing. Let the new stadium be for Inter and bring San Siro (again) only for Milan - make it super-modern, even if it costs as much as building a new one from a scratch - you don't ruin down such a monument as San Siro!
