Emmanuel Acho, Joy Taylor, LeSean McCoy and James Jones debate on how patient New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft be with Bill Belichick after ongoing struggles in the post-Tom Brady era. Brady defended his former coach despite a 25-25 record since the former QB's departure, saying quote: 'Football's a hard sport.'

Belichick needs to thank two people for his success: Lawrence Taylor and Tom Brady. I think this should make people appreciate Shula's greatness even more. He may not have won as many Super Bowls but he adapted to the times and lasted for so long with competitive teams and so few losing seasons. This guy can't even last without Brady!

@PurpleMonkeyDishwasher88
@PurpleMonkeyDishwasher88 10 ай бұрын
Don Shula had Johnny Unitas, Earl Morrall, Bob Griese, Dan Marino as starting quarterbacks during the majority of his tenure as coach. However, the difference back in the last century when Shula coached, is that you can have a winning team with a mediocre quarterback if you had a good defense and special teams. No way you will see that happen now. He also coached 30 of his 33yrs in a league with no free agency. Imagine how hard it would've been to keep talent with the constant roster turnover every offseason, instead of basically hoarding all the talent on your team and not letting them leave. Plus BB has always been a defensive minded coach, and the majority of those barely last these days, unless they have a good quarterback. I give credit for BB scheming games for his defenses and special teams, but he has no clue when it comes to getting a QB

yeah, the '00 Ravens and the '02 Bucs were the last teams to win with a mediocre QB and great, even historic defenses. Maybe you can count the last Broncos SB win with Peyton because he had nothing left at the time and that defense was awesome. But he was still Peyton Manning. The closest Shula came to feeling the impact to free agency was in 1974. The Dolphins lost Larry Csonka, Paul Warfield and Jim Kiick to the WFL. He lost his starting receiver and 2/3 of his backfield and went 10-4 that year without them. But the Steelers were on the rise anyways. @@PurpleMonkeyDishwasher88

No one has mentioned the true history of the fact that Belechick wanted to move on from Brady as early as 2015 - drafted Jimmy G the year before and even benched Brady for Garapolo - everyone thought it was the end of the era - everyone said Tom was too Old - past his prime - Belechick would have us believe it because he the greatest coach ever a football genius right? That’s what everyone was saying … all Tom wanted to do was finish out his career in NE get a long term contract but Belechick said no - just 1 year deals- he was ready to move on - meanwhile Brady kept taking them to SB after SB - finally Tom probably just had enough - parted ways - and got that commitment from the Bucs - who weren’t even his first choice - he could’ve went anywhere- but everyone thought the success was all Belechick. Even the analysts - meanwhile Belechick signs a has been Cam Newton who is just a showboat and cooked - Mranwhile Tom takes Tampa to the Super Bowl and in his 2nd year comes back to Foxborough and beats the Patriots AND again in his 2 nd yr at Tampa comes a game away from the conference championship - drives his team down with like a minute left to tie it up vs the Rams - if it wasn’t for the coaching Bungling the D - and of course if Antonio Brown hadn’t gone off the deep end that year and walked off - Tampa would had back 2 back for sure for sure for sure - it would been amazing he would have played vs the 49rs and Jimmy G and would’ve beat the day lights out of them and then walked off into the sunset - either way Belechick took way too much credit - he’s feeling the heat now - and you know Tom - so much the professional and gentleman to ever say - is sheepishly grinning or should I say GOAT grinning

Kraft HAS been patient, but Belichick was on borrowed time the moment he pushed Brady out the door and down to Tampa. And honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised Kraft gave Belichick a deadline the moment Brady hoisted that Lombardi with the Bucs. Belichick gots to be done after this year. Robert Kraft is already 82, I think he doesn't want to be the one to fire Belichick, may be he is too soft to do it because of all the history. He is probably thinking of 2 things: 1) how many more years has he got? and 2) how many more years will Belichick continue to coach at 71? So, he is most likely waiting for Belichick to retire on his own accord. However, the problem is his sons are working there, so Belichick will probably want to be the HC for as long as he can and hopefully one of his sons could become the HC. If that is the case, Robert Kraft is probably thinking at 82 he won't have that many years left. He will just let Belichick carry on until he passes away, after that it will be up to his son Jonathan Kraft to do the deed or do whatever he sees fit. This is why you should never mix business with emotions. Some people can compartmentalize and handle it, others just can't.

Its unfair for BB to be label as average when he is very old now, of course BB has lost some step. Can't say BB is below average and Brady deserved all the credit because BB provided Brady Top 10 defense year after year with the best salary cap situation to build a two decade dynasty... None of quarterbacks or organization enjoy such success, not only to keep Brady focus in winning championship. BB is almost 72, so it is unfair to berate him as a phony or below average because look at all the Patriots players once he sign off to other teams, they don't get better or produce, they always come back to BB to become successful again. BB is a has been but he was a great coach. Media just want the coverage of internal turmoil between BB and Robert Kraft.

Coincidence? Every coach in Belichick's tree that left has failed. Because they no longer had Brady. And you want to talk about age? Coaches don't need to be young to coach well, QBs do, but Brady after 40 still had more success than most QBs do in their entire career. Don't gives us that nonsense. @@nightowl1337 pit averages 15 points vs the patriots 11. But if you only included offensive points scored it’s 13 vs 10.8. Separation is needed but if your bill that has been coaching this long. You need to know how to plan around this. Especially since a lot of Brady’s years where dealing with wide receiver groups like this. So they should have the plans necessary for this predicament.

Football is a results business. The results just aren't good enough. Players get let go every day when they are not good enough any more. To me, Belichek was done the minute he made Matt Patricia an offensive coordinator. That would have been a fireable offense for ANY other coach. Why not him?
