Peeps is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, although this is actually the anniversary of when the company Just Born bought the brand, not when they first appeared. Peeps have been around since at least the 1920s. And they weren’t alone. There were once many companies that sold sugar-coated marshmallow animals and other shapes, especially at Easter. So how did Peeps manage to survive, when so many other brands of marshmallow chicks and bunnies didn’t? This is the story of Peeps.

These are some of THE BEST mini histories on the platform. I’m ASTOUNDED that Julie doesn’t have more subscribers or views - but keeps making these historically accurate, highly entertaining, and engaging videos. I hope the brands that are featured in these are paying attention and hire her - and I hope she continues to make them. If she has a patreon let me know - happy to support quality like this. I love Peeps and love them stale - I’ve watched so many of her videos but this was a great one to wake up to this morning. Thanks Julie - keep up the great work.

Thank you! So I guess it makes them crunchy because the sugar crystallizes! I haven't tried them stale yet, but I just had some for the first time in years, and they were weirdly not as sugary sweet as I remembered. I think my tolerance for sweet things has only gone up over time. 😂

Given the opportunity, my daughter and I would make Peeps bunnies a food group. Great material, as always. Love your show.
