He's trying to return a favor dumbass. He knows he was fast tracked to a title shot, he's trying to fast track Izzy to potential double champ status. Because as it is right now, Izzy won't even get a title shot when he decides to come back, let alone a shot at double champ.

He rates Izzys skillset and explained in an interview that for Izzy to take so much time off would be a waste of talent and so he called him out to try and motivate him to get back in the octagon. At this stage Izzy had stated he was gonna take a break for 4 years. 4 years...that is a crazy long time and Alex recognizes that Izzy would be wasting his prime fighting years. It wasn't out of ill will.
