In Jujutsu Kaisen recently we were reintroduced to the character of Kusakabe Atsuya, who gained a lot of fans just like he did in the manga with his self narrated section of the episode where he explains why he’s trying to avoid all of the battles and doing any hard work. Don’t let this confuse you though because despite not having a cursed technique Kusakabe is a master of the New Shadow Style and Batto Sword Drawing Style as well, which lets this man who SHOULD be pretty ordinary actually excel in battle, with him being the fastest sorcerer to ever reach Grade 1 without a cursed technique aside from Yuji Itadori our main character. Being Grade 1 this means Kusakabe should be able to handle Special Grade curse spirits, and with his sword he can open simple domains around himself that negate enemy attacks or allow him to slash down any incoming projectiles, while he ALSO uses this ability to get in range on his opponents and land perfectly timed slashes that have even been able to cut through Kenjaku’s most powerful technique, causing him to praise Kusakabe for having some know how. It’s still a question as to whether we’ll EVER get a full on Kusakabe fight in the anime and manga, but at this point I think it’d be funnier if we never did, so his goal of staying out of danger and living a stress free life finally gets to come true, but to learn what stresses out every other sorcerer, check out our short explaining JUST that from the databook.

Kusakabe is not the fastest to reach Grade 1 without a CT, he is the only one. Yuji before the recent power-up, was still easilly overwhelmed by Higuruma, who is equal to a Grade 1 sorcerer.

The only reason higuruma had a chance was because of the aspect of his domain taking yuji ce and giving higuruma the tool to inflict damage and at the end of the fight kill him with one strike but before that yuji was still on even ground with higuruma yuji was not on the ropes like at all
