@@East_Coast_Toasty_Boy i assume she was in the rebellion at least a year or more before luke. basic combat training and experience, coupled with not relying on the force and being less likely to hold back means she would have a lot more adaptability and would have surprised luke quite a bit. not saying she would beat him every single time or even very often but she would definitely have kept him on his toes. i think he would have learned a lot from her at the same time.

@@kspayton I know she learned how to shoot from some of the soldiers, but I doubt she got full military training.

@@East_Coast_Toasty_Boy same. but she was fighting in a war while luke was still fixing moisture vaporators and kept fighting that war while luke was off learning to move rocks. its just my opinion but i think leia would have learned how to use a lightsaber way faster then luke and would have matched or even exceeded him due to have more experience actually fighting and more wisdom on how to use the new tool set being taught to her. this is not an attempt to put luke down. i feel like he would have loved it. i can imagine them sparring often while just talking and them being just as likely as the other to get knocked on their butt. XD

Honestly I think that description fits better with Luke. I’m a firm believer that ultimately Luke is more like his mother while Leia is more like her father.

@@pupulauls Then again, Yoda thought that Leia would've been the more suitable Jedi student, and, in the Obi-Wan Kenobi miniseries, Ben Kenobi remarked how much 10-year-old Leia reminded him of her Mother, with her similarly focused, take charge demeanor.

No definitely, not only because she would be more ambitious than Luke naturally, but also because Anakin would’ve likely taken a liking to her over Luke because her headstrong personality matches him, whereas Luke’s more reserved personality matches Padme’s.

That’s incorrect. In Return of the Jedi, Luke asks her, “Do you remember your mother? Your real mother?” And Leia says that her mother died when she was very young and that she remembers “just images really, feelings.” Leia was remembering Padmé through the Force.

However, given that Lucas didn't really plan the whole story out beforehand it's more than plausible that Leia isn't remembering her "real mother". That then calls into question, who is her "real mother". The one who gave birth to her, or the one who raised her? I'm not trying to be obtuse here, just trying to hold onto what we have of Star Wars that hasn't been kicked out of Canon.

@@tomg2217 well here’s how I understand it, Luke knows she has a foster family, he also knows that they’re siblings. And at this point they both know that Vader is their father, and typically but not always, a birth mother is referred to as the “real mom” just to give that distinction because obviously the mom that she grew up with is the most real to her. It makes perfect logical sense to me that she was seeing visions of padme, not only does it fit the theme of “your family is always with you” that Star Wars loves so much but it also doesn’t make sense that she wouldn’t be able to tell that it was her foster mom. To me, the fact that she doesn’t recognize her solidifies this as her seeing padme even if it wasn’t specifically intended to be her. Lucas left a lot of his story open to interpretation, a trait that was very useful when writing prequels.

After a bit of training there’s no reason why she couldn’t beat Luke or at least give him a challenge. They had the same force potential but Leia may have been more quick to pick up on lightsaber combat. Anakin was better than most Jedi masters at the age of 22 even some of the older much more experienced ones. It’s not like Luke himself at that point had been training for decades in combat at best he’d just technically become a Jedi knight when he trained her so his skills were still improving as well.

@@Insidious-K Luke had more potential not to mention he traveled throughout galaxies studying and training. Even him as a Jedi knight he was very powerful.

@@n1njawaldo17 it’s never stated who had more potential between the two if anything Yoda seen the two as interchangeable and wanted to train Leia if anything. His knowledge puts him over her definitely in that respect but as far as lightsaber combat goes she could just be a fast learner. Leia and Luke would’ve been two of the most powerful of all time had Leia continued to be a Jedi.
