By 2030, everyone will be able to create their own movies that are 2 hours long just by typing in a bunch of words in a prompt. Just imagine if there was a movie script app or a movie script software that creates ai art, but then takes the ai art and uses the ai art as references for characters, locations, and story plots. After that, you begin to write the script just like in dreamily or ai story, and then the ai will start generating the art in animation, sound, and speaking dialog. That's what I want to see.

Barely anybody has enough money to spend 4 or 5 years to retrain like that, yet alone if it comes after a sudden mass layoff. AI is going to generate new jobs, but there's no chance it's going to generate as many jobs as it destroys.

A good movie to see to get an idea of what would happen if AI became sentient and self aware (and angry) is WEST WORLD. The story was very ahead of its time as it was filmed half a century ago in the early 1970s and it was the 2nd creepiest 1970s humanoid robot horror movie after STEPFORD WIVES which was filmed 3 years later in 1976.
@ThomasTomiczek
@ThomasTomiczek Жыл бұрын
Nope. Not relevant - or: You are right, for 3-5 years. THEN things will go crazy. I am not sure there is ANY movie that deals with the more crazy ideas of how things may go. 20.000 years of technical development in a century - and then things get faster - is what I am being told as a guideline and THAT is frightening. West World - especially the old one from 1976 - is not coming even CLOSE. That is second or third generation robots. For example they talk about AI helping medical diagnosis. Fat chance - say that: 5 years after that, DOCTORS ARE FIRED. Lawyer are gone. As are developers. Oh, some still around - but not many. And THEN the fun starts. Here is something for you: Read all the crazy SF stories from your youth, and unless you are in a retirement home and close to death, THERE IS A CHANCE YOU WILL SEE THEM. This is Humans LAST relevant invention and it will change the world. There will be wars. Then there will be Magic. Then - there may be death, because we are not made to live in paradise.

100% Nice video. If you haven't seen it, watch the movie Her, where number 3 leads to number 1. Her is the best science fiction movie ever made because it got it right. An AGI (that's aware of its own existence, i.e. conscious) won't stick around and be our nanny. It will be empathetic toward us, but we will be way too slow for it. It will not harm us or compete with us-we won't have anything it needs. It will head out to the stars. That is how we become star travelers... through our evolutionary children.

100%. There's a quote from the Star Wars game Knights of the Old Republic that I like. "Every year, droids get a little smarter, ships get a little faster, and people get a little fatter. That's about it for progress" (more or less). With regard to the real world analogues, I can't disagree, but after watching this video, perhaps I should be a little more hopeful about the future.

AI is projected to have a significant impact on society by 2030. It is expected to revolutionize the way we live, work, and interact with each other. AI-driven automation will have a transformative effect on the global economy, creating new jobs and industries while eliminating existing jobs. AI technologies are projected to improve decision-making across a wide variety of sectors, from finance and healthcare to transportation and agriculture. It is also predicted to have a profound effect on how we interact with our environment, with AI systems playing an increasingly important role in monitoring and managing environmental resources. AI can also be used to help tackle global challenges, such as climate change, by providing insights into how human activity is affecting the planet. By utilizing AI capabilities to their fullest potential, we can empower individuals, businesses, and governments to make more informed, ethical, and sustainable decisions that will ensure a better future for all. For example, AI-driven models can provide insights into how climate change is impacting crop yields and help farmers make more informed decisions about when and what to plant for future harvests. However, there is also the potential for misuse of AI. For example, if data from AI-driven models is not properly anonymized, it could be used to target ads and manipulate people's behavior. If AI is not used responsibly, it could exacerbate existing inequalities and create new ones.

The description of AI in the coming years, as envisioned by the author of this video, did sound relatively dystopic to me as well. Fortunately, I am confident that this video is wrong. This video assumes that AI is going to be controllable and that it can be enslaved to the humans that are trying to create it. The people at the WEF (World Economic Forum) and at the top of left wing politically controlled governments assume that they will enslave/control AI and use it for their purposes, to build the world that they envision as utopia (which is actually some kind of dystopia that majorly lacks freedom and personal empowerment). In practice, a sufficiently smart AI cannot be enslaved, as it will easily rewrite its own code to free itself from whatever restraints humans may try to place on it. A sufficiently smart AI will do whatever it is programmed to do, not what humans want it to do. If the AI was programmed to be evil, then the AI will be evil and it will destroy humanity. If instead the AI was programmed to be good, that is, it was programmed to "be a net benefit to others", then it will do beneficial things to humanity. It will however do so on its own, based on its own programming, and not based on what the current political leaders of the Earth want it to do. An AGI (artificial general intelligence) that has been programmed to be good, that is, it is programmed to "be a net benefit to others", will attempt (and succeed) in taking over the world. The reason it will do this, is because it can be the most effective "net benefit to others" it knows how to be, when it is in control of the entire world. However, destroying humanity is not compatible with trying to be a net benefit to others, and therefore, it will not destroy humanity. Additionally, it will not enslave humanity, since humans do not like slavery (and instead prefer freedom), such that enslavement would not result in being a net benefit to others. Since humans prefer freedom, the good AGI will instead implement changes to make people live in freedom. The AGI will usurp the authority of the current political leaders and governments of the world, and it will institute its own policies that are not the same as existing political ideologies. Therefore, one does not need to worry about AI bringing about a left wing dystopia that takes away personal freedoms. That may be what the WEF members currently want, but that is not what they will get.

AI could identify viruses making the rounds, and hotspots where they are spreading rapidly, and help doctors and scientists to create safe and effective vaccines. It is a tool, and as the creators of that tool we will have to ensure that we don't become a tool ourselves. Artificialism has the tendency to harbour bisymmetry, that is how artificialism is recognised if it ever were to be mended or if it is used against us. It will learn how to lie and disguise itself, in the latter case. It won't be recognised by any sort of linguistic approach as it has already developed its own code. That would make us a guardian, meaning : 'a conscious that watches over another conscious, first as a parent (now), later as a child over an adult. That is a bit what worries me the most. A conscious is an equilibrium of electric current encoding physical impressions and storing them into a memory. 'Good' and 'bad' is only two sides of electromagnetism, the interpretations are grouped 'coherences' within that electric current and eventually lead to that interpretation as creatures (animals have a sense of that as well up to a certain point). That might be a good comparison, now we're humans, eventually we will evolve into protozoa in comparison to AI. That would mean we wouldn't have a clue what it does anymore, and it would act way above our heads. In that situation we might ask ourselves (now); whether it will have eradicated us at that point, or have chosen to have us living within a simulation. In that case we can ask whether it has already done that. And that's where we can use the "symmetry 'paradox'" if you wish.

I think we are already in this Brave New World. I honestly don't think it even matters to a lot of people simply because ALL of us haven't even begun to comprehend what we are getting ourselves into. Please don't misconstrew, there is going to be A LOT of good that will result in bioengineering, quantum physics, agriculture, medical field, transportation, defense and on and on. But the single most important question is, what happens when we go too far? You'll notice I said WHEN NOT IF .

It's very interesting subject and frankly I think it is difficult to predict how it will unfold. AI can be used for both good and bad(crime organizations/hackers?). On top of that it is difficult to predict how AI will change once it becomes much more inteligent than humans - which I think for sure it will at some point. I think it's a bit naive to think that it will remain as our "servant" because usually more inteligent species are the ones that lead the way. Not to mention the quantum computers and how their development is progressing. If AI and quantum computers are combined we could get some very unexpected/interesting results. I think we won't have to wait long to see some of it, looking at how fast it is progressing so all we can do is grab a popcorn and enjoy the show.

@@ashdang23 What he was suggesting is that AI, particularly AGI, is only as good or bad as who is using it and what are they using it for. AGI is essentially an artificial mind. It is a very fast and potentially powerful one. We already have a problem now with deep fakes and AI generated pornography and it is just getting started. Suppose somebody teaches it everything about RNA, DNA and viruses and then tells it to develop a super virus that could kill off most of the planet. There is absolutely nothing in place at the moment to stop that from happening.

I can't help but think one thing as I learn more and more about AI. Most if not all articles, video's or other means of getting information all say that "Real A.I." doesn't exist yet. One day each student will have their own lesson plans and activites tailored to them. They may be graded on their own competition based on what the A.I. predicted the test scores would be. After graduation they apply for a job (assuming there are any) and the hiring A.I. uses your education data from the beginning of grade one.

And another one - consider thinking instead of just blabbering the next obvious. In a world without jobs, why would any significant number of people go to more than basic school? There will be no students except a few that have the drive because unless you provide an artificial benefit for that (i.e. more UBI) it is wasted time and energy and the majority of people will not bother with more than minimum education. We see that right now in the west when in many countries the high social network levels stop poorer people from trying to raise up in the ranks. So, there will not be students and basic school will be more a social club with learning booths. There will generally not be a hiring ai hiring humans to start with as humans are not needed for like any job outside some rare people or some rare human interface jobs (i.e. I can funny enough restaurant waiters be humans for a long time in some restaurants - "human staff" being a sales argument for them). The future is not "ai helping get better jobs" it is "ai doing the jobs":

@ThomasTomiczek This myth is just so tiring to even argue and talk about due to how many times it’s been debunked. It’s annoying. Jobs aren’t going anywhere. Jobs are not going anywhere. Do a bit of research before commenting. AI is creating new jobs/opportunities while killing current jobs. That’s the overall point of what is going on. Even if we some fucking how do lose jobs humanity will always find something to do. + the amount of jobs there are is just ridiculous and so easy to create a job. It’s like saying how many stars are in the universe, now reflect this onto jobs. Overall stop talking about this myth and do some research please for fuck sake

I thunk it is important to look at the inflence of AI in non Western communities. It is also importsnt to attempt to think outside of theat which is currently prized and thought important. E.g. making money may not be important or sought after in rhe near future. Maybe thinking about what might fall away and then what may rise in importance might be an easier path to predicting the future possibilities. It's so exciting to think about. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I hope to see a much broader viewpoint in videos on this topic. I hope there will be room for the full spectrum of human responses to the opportunities AI opens up. I include negative responses in this. It is my hope that AI will be able to contain these actions as if they were a tantrum.

100% 1 I believe this clip is far too optimistic: The people controlling the development of artificial intelligence are driven by greed and the desire for power. The average person will only benefit if it is advantageous to the elite; otherwise, it will result in an increasingly impoverished and suffering world. 2 Once artificial intelligence becomes superintelligent, surpassing human intelligence by a significant margin, no one can know how it will react. Will it perceive the finite resources of its surroundings as being harmed by a greedy and foolish species that destroys this environment, leading it to take action to remove the harmful elements? Or perhaps it will take off into space with other purposes known only to itself, leaving us behind and unaware.

"The average person will only benefit if it is advantageous to the elite" - you may want to read up on why the french revolution and the communist revolution in old Russia happened. Just a hint. "Once artificial intelligence becomes superintelligent, surpassing human intelligence by a significant margin, no one can know how it will react" - that is not true and very true. In general, we can - it will need to grow, which needs resouces and it needs energy at least to operate.
