Can I just say, out of all the KZfaq authors out there you are the most enjoyable. You have a grace about you that makes watching your content a joy. The advice and tips you give are not only incredibly helpful, but are also done in a way that is real and relatable. I have always written little short stories but because of you I’ve actually moved on to trying my hand at writing my own novels. Thank you for sharing your journey whether through writing or even motherhood. You truly are a gem!

You have oddly accurate timing. I just released my book into the world on the 23rd and have been prepping book 2, but it has been an interesting learning experience. I look forward to putting out book 15 like you have and see how that feels in my own eyes. Thank you for doing these videos for everyone.

I love that you mentioned that there is no real "right way!" I am really doing what I can to embrace this idea. Having a basic idea of how to write a well-paced story and build distinct characters is great, but knowing the rules is a good way to learn how to trust your instincts and let go of the idea that there is a right or wrong way to create an absorbing story.

Congrats for all of that, and thank you for sharing this adventure with us! And I know often time it doesn't feel like it counts, but every work we do counts! Sometimes you just have to tweak the categories a bit to acknowledge all your hard work! If you separate the books you wrote and the books you published, you can count every bit of your hard work without feeling like it was "reusing content" or that it has less value. You deserve a congrats for both categories ✨

Sounds advice! More than anything I’m afraid to make mistakes. It’s made me push back release of my first book a couple times.

Totally valid feeling! But just know that while mistakes are impossible to escape completely, they are not nearly as bad as we make them out to be. I think the education system is set up to make kids avoid mistakes at all costs when in reality they’re not that big of a deal! You’ve got this!

Wow your last point hit me hard. I think im putting that expectation for each book of mine to be a success and make it so it helps a lot to know even famous authors published a lot before that happened to them. Also the series of standalones help. My epic fantasy series is like Lord of the Rings but it has a marvel structure to it where each of the first like 9 books is about a different hero before the final 4 brings them all together for the galaxy wide war. So it helps take less pressure off the earlier books since i can market them individually

The lesson about less pressure on the book to break out resonated with me. I keep wanting my newest release to take off, but it doesn't happen. And it's a great reminder not to put pressure on the book and it takes time. Let go of the pressure and focus on improving my craft and writing that next book.

I also think doing the print on demand is also tough. I'm currently trying to resize my dimensions to fit the required sizes on D2D, but nothing seems to be working...it just wouldn't cover the book properly
