The Kat Silent Strike Bass Drum Beater is a great addition to help soundproof your electric drums but they are not a final solution. They are about 20-30% quieter than a standard bass drum beater. If you are trying to reduce the bass drum impact for your downstairs neighbor, this will be a nice addition but only if combined with a soundproof stage like platform. It will not be enough on it's own. However, the Kat beaters are more gentle on your electric bass drum heads than a standard beater. So if you need to replace your beaters, these would be a great replacement since they are about the same price as standard beaters. I hope you enjoyed the video!

It looked like the rods of the beaters were hitting the rim of the kick pad? Not sure might of been the angle? Still if it is quiter that is what counts!!

I don't have personal experience with this style of 'tennis ball' beater however I frequently see them being used as an alternative to felt on mesh heads/Ekits. I can't possibly see how the texture of the 'tennis ball' would be any different in regards to wearing through a mesh head then that of a felt beater. Is it purely for feel or do these actually reduce damage to mesh?

The difference in feel is very minimal. But I have noticed it has reduced wear on the head significantly. This is compared to the old Tama CB90F Cobra Felt beaters I used to use.

I don't have much experience with Alesis since I've only been using Roland for the past eight years. So I can only say I've always been pleased with Roland products and the TD-17KVX looks killer. Especially since those two are priced so similar.

Are you happy with these beater tennis balls compared to the felt beater? in relation to rebound and noise?

I don't really notice a difference in rebound though I am playing against a small electronic pad. There might be more of a noticeable difference on a bigger acoustic kick drum. It is a bit quieter than a felt beater but not such a "wow this is incredible! how did they invent such a thing?" difference.
