In this episode I cure a bit of a creative slump by diving into my bits box without a plan and I end up making something cool. This will be the first piece in a larger set of my very own hellish landscape that I am naming TORMENT. Great for wargaming or tabletop RPG's!

Oh wow! You used my columns :) I can’t believe it and a shout out :) I don’t have a website any more, I took the decision to close down at the beginning of 2020, I sold 98% of my molds but weirdly I still have these molds, as I used them for my recent chaos knights! Jeremy! You have used these perfectly! Fantastic piece! If you need any more message me over on Insta or my Facebook page! Cheers bud!

I'm really glad to see you pop up here! Again, I don't like the idea of recast other people's work (especially small businesses) I was sad to see your website down so I tried to give you as much credit as I could in the situation. I did end up making molds and casting a bunch for the rest. I'd love to get more of the real thing from you but the whole set will be complete by the time they'd arrive. If you have a link you're currently using for sales send it my way an I'll gladly add it to the info of the video. I still have no idea how I ended up with these btw......were they in one of the many loot box companies I've reviewed over the years?

@@BlackMagicCraftOfficial never in a loot box no, I’m a one man band and I also work a full time job so I could never cast that many to meet demand lol! You have my full permission to go ahead and cast them! I’d advise using dental plaster, will be quicker and make many many many more than you’d get from resin, you can also hit them with a hammer for more broken ones. If you get interest for them go ahead and sell them I’m not worried, just donate an amount per sale or something to any charity of your choice! Perhaps give my Instagram account a shout out :) love all of your work chap, you inspired my dungeon tiles and terrain!

I’m sure it’s hard balancing all the needs of different parts of your community, but your own needs are important too. Perhaps schedule in some targeted content (like x1 per month trying something beginner friendly), but give yourself the freedom to explore and create. You’ve given those of us with limited tools lots of great projects we can take on. Seeing you find things that are new and exciting to you is inspiring and great viewing, I would love for you to feel more freedom taking on the projects, tools, or themes that call out to you. It’s fun to learn and experience this together. :)

@@imrail1 I was thinking of a scenario where I'd see this, and sort of thought that the "thingy atop" was the last vestige of a long-dead god's power. A barely-glowing halo amidst an endless sea of darkness, flickering and dwindling down to a dull, tarnished, crest as the last priest of a long-forgotten sect takes in a ragged breath. Far away, across the endless bounds of the Ethereal, the slow, final, exhalation of a priest draws to an end. The halo dims, and all becomes darker. Darker... Darker... Forgotten.

That's wonderful. It made me think of a couple of things: The rather 'Un-Hell like' Hell dimension (not many burning pits, but metallic mountains, wormholes, and piles of war scrap here and there, the odd band of dwarves, and policemen in an ice-cream van) from thriller writer John Connolly's 'Samuel Johnson' trilogy of books, and horrid things seen from a distance in vast underground cities, viewed by semi-mad explorers, in some of the stories by H.P. Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, Robert E. Howard, and Frank Belknap Long. I love those columns, by the way. I had similar ones bought from an aquarium shop, which were meant to be put in a fish tank.

Really enjoyed the energy in this one. I think a lot of creatives suffered last year with burnout and the ‘need’ or pressure to produce even more content than normal, and this felt like a reminder to give yourself permission just to mess around a bit more and in the process unlock something really cool. I worked in video game level design for 16 years, and I found that when I got in a creative slump I would end up stuck and I found the best method was to push past it and build something. It didn't have to be final or good, it just had to break out of what I had already built. Instead of seeking inspiration I would led inspiration find me.

I'm glad you're excited about a project, especially one with such a fun vibe! I recently did a piece going wild on how many different natural elements it contained and have been wondering how to do something similar for manmade terrain, so I look forward to seeing how you tackle this as a larger project! I had the same issue with a casting silicone that had started to set a few years back and decided, lets try this: i sprayed a bunch of silicone spray lube (the stuff you get at the hardware store) into it and mixed it around. This thinned it so i could then mix the two parts together and get useable mold. Not sure if it works for all kinds of silicone but since silicone spray lube is pretty cheap and casting silicone is expensive it can be worth a shot. The build turned out great!

Silicon mold casting? Where am I, The Crafsman's workshop!? Good on you for looking for the parts through the manufacturer first! I'm excited to see the next phase of the project with the recast pillars.
