@@cantfindagoodname.211 95% of the people that offer help in all the Ukraine-Romania border crossings, train stations, etc are actually volunteers that gain nothing from this, but instead spend their own time and money just to help. Romanians usually tend to be divided, but the war in Ukraine made me feel proud to be romanian when the people organized themselves within the first hours of invasion and went straight to the border and gave help way before the authorities even did something. I really am proud we help our ukrainian neighbors, for so many years the relation between these two nations were kinda cold but it seems that what diplomacy couldnt achieve in so many years, just one month of war changed totally the roadmap of friendship between RO and UKR. Almost everyone that I know did something for ukrainians, from food and blankets to donating blood and moneys. I worked few months in Kyiv back in 2020 and I cannot take out of my head that city, I was planning with some friends of mine to make a city-break into Odessa and Kyiv in summer, I'm so sad that plan had to be messed up. Long live Ukraine!

In this ugly war the grace of Romanian citizens and the Romanian NGOs is unparalleled. On top of the Ukrainian refugees they also took care of Indian and African students escaping the war. The students shared how so many of them were hosted by Romanian families and cared for by some of the most wonderful people. We hired this week our first two colleagues from Ukraine with the refugee status. The main difficulties are the language barrier , Romanian and Ukrainian are completely different and only people around Cernauti area or Bugeac do speak some Romanian. English is not so well known even for the younger generation and virtually unknown for 40+. So for the service industry that's not good. However the works on the Moldova highway whose northern end is at the Ukraine border start this year and it will be a good opportunity for have the Ukrainian workers come here and work. In this way there will be resources taken back home to be use in rebuilding the country.

Romania also forgave Ukraine for the northern Bukovina part (which was taken by Russia and now is Ukrainian), but it would be fair if they acknowledge the Romanians there, and let them learn in Romanian school (like they used too, until a few years ago, when they also stopped acknowledging there's a Romanian minority there). Interesting how all sorts of bad things happen because of nationalism, and when kindness/humanity happens the borders disappear (the opposite of nationalism).

Met some awesome people there and from the first minute of conversation I've already felt like we were part of a big family. And I would feel the same with any of our neighbours. In respect of Ukrainains there were always big issues with them. 1) they cooperated and cherished the invading Russians of Northern Bucovina, current Rep.of Moldova and Budjak at the Black Sea. Later on they helped a lot deporting hundred thousands and killing thousands of Romanians just because they were Romanians living on their native lands. Even today not even a damn excuse was said... 2) They even started and participate on the Russian side during the Transnistrian War and again killing Romanians (Moldovans) 3) Caused a lot of troubles on the Danube Delta which almost started a war between us. Later on only stopped because Romanians renounced in order to be accepted to NATO. 4) Discriminating and threatening Romanians in case they dare to ask about their minority rights which both countries signed in 1997 as a guarantee of the current borders.

Similar to Serbia, majority is very firmly pro Russian and blindly supports the agression, as an EU country it is just unbelievable how oblivious those people are, successfully brainwashed by the narrative of a false brotherhood and supporting opression, while controversially being part of an istritution (EU) standing for the complete opposite values. That’s exactly what I suspected, that Russia and Ukraine were never tourist friendly countries and the only real reason anyone would go there as a tourist if they didn’t have family there was if they were looking for a foreign bride. On the video interview of this channel creator with Alina McLeod, I believe they mentioned that up to 95% of the tourists in Ukraine were single or divorced men. I also read that even a Ukrainian American man who just left the country as a teenager was treated as a foreigner when he returned there many years later. Still, he recommended that every western man should try visiting there at least once because it would give them a harsh cold brutal taste of reality that’s beneficial for their character.
