How's My Budget Suspension Holding Up? | TruHart Coilover Review

3 жыл бұрынIn today's highly requested video, I give you a 2 YEAR Review of my Budget Coilover Suspension on my Honda Civic! I talk about my overall experience with TruHart Coilovers and deep dive into comfort, performance, and wear & tear. Hopefully this info will be helpful!
Typically the words "budget" and "suspension" don't end in the best result, but my experience has been...different. I've been running the TruHart suspension components for 2 years now and wanted to give you my overall feedback. I wanted to make this review to help future buyers in finding a suspension that I think offers the best bang for the buck. Lowering your car is one thing, but there are SO many other variables when it comes to the driveability of a lowered car.
In my search over 2 years ago for a decent full bodied coilover, I stumbled across the TruHart brand. There was little to no reviews but I had a good feeling that they might work out. To some, a $500 coilover may seem pricey, but to others, it may seem "too cheap." I found that most decent coilovers with good reviews were far out of my price range but I really wanted something with adjustability. If I remember right, the TruHart Street Plus coilover has an 8k/6k spring rating which seemed like a go-to for daily driving and spirited driving. I've done both with this setup over the 2 years and am SUPER happy with the comfort.
In this video I explain why I wanted a full bodied coilover vs. the old school spring and strut combo or a slip on coil. I think that nowadays with options like this, it makes sense to go with the real thing. I also talk about how the car handled before and after the rest of my supporting suspension mods. i think for the money, this is a hard setup to beat regardless of the platform for the price. I've had no major issues so far and see these lasting for many more years. Hope this has been helpful for everyone on the fence about the brand or the product!

If she runs keep her decent. Suspension ain't too pricey I mean if it needs it. Car market is crazy right now. Put some cheap painted Suspension, cheap cold air, paint the valve cover turquoise, some ricer will buy it way over what its worth. And they this might sound crazy but if the paint is just completely shot and body panels are different colors a good kyrlon turbo rattle can paint job can really improve the look I mean long as you're good with a rattlecan I mean its better than the rust bucket look ya know. Young ricers love civics. Find cheap parts at salvage yards and recyclers make it look 10 years younger cheap enough

For the price, those are definitely decent. I think the next closest would be the Progress CSII, but those are an extra $100. Very nice video and informative for anyone thinking about getting these.

I’ve had my true hart street plus on my crv since May of 2018, never removed, driven hard and many many miles! Replaced one strut because I was hit on my qtr panel and bent the strut . No complaints!

I got Truhart Coilovers as well in my EG (plus Rear LCA's, front upper arms, rear camber and toe arms, and subframe brace from them too) All great stuff! Not problems after almost two years, highly recommend Truhart products.

Does he sometimes get that pull when driving? Like does his car pull to the left or right with those coil overs ? I’m having that issue right now with mines a mechanic of mines said one common issue with them is they sometimes pull to the left or right at times with truharts

@@ccenda3109 if anything I would see you pulling to the left or right with a bad alignment, torque steer from an open diff, or just pulling/pushing the steering wheel and not realizing it. Like my Rsx has an open diff and it torque steers when I do a pull...that’s the only reason it’s pulling, I wouldn’t say it’s the TruHart coils. My brothers ej1 has a lsd in it and it pulls straight. 🤷🏾♂️

@@MangoKev cuz I got my alignment couple days ago and it pulls to the right now I just be cruising on the freeway and I won’t even have my hands on steering wheel just to see if it keeps straight which it does but at times I catch the steering wheel pull to the right too much I almost crashed a wall. The guy who did my alignment told me he has had people with truharts who experience the same thing but idk if that’s accurate I’m just tryna see what the problem is.

Based on my experience, a softer spring up front and ANY rear sway would make it more comfortable, make it rotate better, and still keep it just as flat. Keep in mind you need a stiffer bar to counteract stiffer springs, so an oem hollow 22-23mm might not be enough.

A stiffer rear sway bar on a fwd car would cause more oversteer on top of the natural fwd oversteer.

It would be cool if you could compare the major brands with budget lines: TRUHart vs Godspeed vs Megan Racing. They all have their own followings & very good reviews. So how to know which is the best budget coil overs. I don't have any friends that are into cars or modifying cars, so I can't really compare them, with a driving test... but I bet you do? Anyhow great video & you answered all of my questions about Truehart's. Thank you!

Just a heads up there's a good chance these will sit at stock height by the sounds of it. Unless I'm mistaken you were saying the length comparison out the box was to a stock strut out the box? Stock spring rate is 165 lbs/inch 8kgs is just shy of 450 lbs/inch. The original strut will compress more then the coil over with body weight alone.

Hi, I would like to install coilovers on my Del Sol, I am new to all these...I just want to lower my vehicle a few inches and improve the comfort while driving it. My stock suspension is good, but adding coilovers would improve it? DO i need to install the rest of the parts you mention in the video? What would you reccomend? I feel the same my godspeed is perfect and good enogh is the negative is that they only have one damn year warranty on them. just last year my front started leaking but that probably cause of my preloaded set up that burst. But everything works good. Run on 4 years now. With godspeed.

I just bought the truhart struts and shocks set and bought d2 racing lowering springs for my 2013 Acura ILX do you think I’ll have any fitment problems with the tires?

I bought the Function and Form Type 2 coilovers for my Integra (same setup). They are similar but have the dampening adjustability too. I'm looking at getting the same TruHart front UCA and Rear too like yours. How do you like the front UCAs? Does the 4 bolt setup hold everything tight. I was originally looking at getting K-Tuning for that part because it has 6 camber bolts instead of 4 bolts that the TruHart has but the 4 bolts are a little larger so maybe that's better or good enough? Just wanted to make sure the front UCA had enough adjustability for when I take it in to get an alignment and that it will stay there over the years and not need adjusting later. I plan to lower mine exactly like yours. Thanks so much if you could reply before I purchase.

Nice! Wondering if you can help me out? I got a set of Coilovers for my Rsx and there’s no brand name on them but it looks exactly like TruHart’s. If it’s possible if you can provide me some measurements like the diameter of the strut itself and thread pitch/size of the perch collars... TruHart doesn’t want to give me any specs. I have a bent strut and TruHart sells replacement parts. Really appreciate it bro. Thanks

My truharts just died after 9…… 9 hard years of Houston’s awful roads. They still work but the shock is starting to just begin to bounce. Thank god truhart makes replacement shocks

GREASE THE TOP MOUNTS!! Just installed a set on my lancer and was getting crazy spring clunk whenever I turn the wheel left or right.. it's the top mounts binding.. put on some grease, and gone. Just a heads up for anyone!! Happened to another buddy of mine and he has a set worth twice as much. Sometimes they just don't get greased up

The negatives for these cheaper suspension arms: they use rubber bushing as opposed to 3-piece polyurethane or spherical bushings. Over a long period of time the rubber bushings will tear due to their lack of articulation.

Except they use HardRace's rubber, which wears better than OEM rubber (which lasts a LONG time when assembled right). Poly on other arms, even Sk2, takes a crap after a short period. Even ES & Prothane will sag & wallow out, that's just what poly does. Spherical is way overkill for the road. You also need some movement & deflection in the 88-00 rear suspensions, which only rubber provides.

Would you try swapping springs and see how it affects overall? I hear they 9k fronts and 6 or 7k rear if I'm not wrong.

The truharts are 8k/6k if I remember right

Well I have a set of Truhart sport shocks and Megan springs on my EM1. I purchased these to replace some Coilovers that were over 10 years old. This is my first time going down this sort of suspension Road as I am 58 years old. The card is feeling somewhat stiff on the bumps. But I don’t really have a whole lot to compare it to. I was wondering if maybe these Coilovers would’ve been a better decision. The car is a bit lower than I would like. I like your videos. Thank you very much.

Hey, I don’t know if you still answer comments, but I have a problem with my Truhart coils. They’re almost at max height and my exhaust still scrapes. What should I do?

I’m new here and to car parts … so when I install my coil overs do I still need an alignment for the tires? Or is there something else that needs to be adjusted? I have a Corolla’14 Le eco plus yes ik I have that model lol

I'm think8ng of getting a set up of these but for an acura tsx wagon, what would you think?. It's a daily driver, I don't speed nor drift nor track.. lol...would you recommend for me.

Are you running extended ball joints, flipped tire rod ends, or anything else that corrects the geometry? I was wondering because I'm at a cross road between spending the extra money to correct geometry or just running stock replacements? The civic currently has coilovers, camber kits, and front lower control arms all from TruHart.

Hi Anthony...I was watching the video because I have a 2003 Matrix and I completely redid it from scratch,paint, front end... anyway, a lot of work and now I was thinking of putting a suspension on it that is not too expensive but not too cheap either, something in between. I really liked the video and I wanted to ask you if I would put this suspension on it, would it go down a lot? Would it get too stiff? I have it for daily use and I don't know how uncomfortable it could be... I've never put suspension on cars... but I want it to look nicer and I think that's the touch it's missing..!

Any consideration for the ITR brake conversion, I have it on my civic and they look really good, 15" wheels barely clear. Not to mention they do stop well.

I got function forms type 2 I got used and honestly suck and are probably shot will this be a downgrade ?? I want something smooth my friend had blox coilovers and it rides way better then mine

Why exactly was the rear rubbing? Was it how low you went in combination with the neogens? Do you think if you raised the rear .25 or .50 inch it wouldn’t have rubbed before rolling the fenders?

I would say it was due to the height and the wheel width. You could always raise it, but I do recommend rolling the rears if you can!
