Great Research! I read both of her books and they definitely help people understand the United States a lot better. She is a brilliant researcher, and everyone in the US should read her books.

To keep on answering the first question at the end of the talk... Mexico inherited a deeply racist system from Spain's colonization. So even though the United States decides to collectively reject and lump Mexicans, Mexico is also a racist nation itself, containing unspoken racial hierarchies that directly influence class, wealth, and who has power. A professor with a phd who is "white passing" in america might get some stigma, but a professor with a phd that has dark skin, indigenous, or african descent will receivce more stigma stemming from both Nations.
