** APOLOGIES for the video quality of this webcast. It's very disappointing as I feel this was some really strong content. The audio quality is still good though and the slides come through well. Hopefully you can still enjoy it. **
Sharp Sports Betting exists on a spectrum. There are many different ways in which a sharp bettor looks to gain the advantage over a sportsbook. We'll overview and compare different methods.

Thanks captain, this resonates with our vision since for eternity most people will believe that gamblers are nuts and irresponsible. Nevertheless, we are pursuing the virtues of knowledge and understanding in this science and art of forecasting sports events.

Thanks for all your videos Captain Jack! I love your style and how you describe sharp betting. I'm learning a ton, you're a lot better at describing the higher level concepts like arbitrage or EV that I've heard referenced a lot in other videos but didn't really understand until your explanations. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, I appreciate it and I hope you keep making more!

Hey Jack love your content , your always informative, channel is underrated i have learned a lot about the Scientific realm because myself fall into the Art realm I have won a lot of bets by my gut instincts and to me that's Art because you can't teach it, I usually play lines I love and kind of fall into finding Vegas discrepancies mostly I am correct, but you are 100% on taking a loss. You always have to gladly take a loss if it was a bet you felt good about.I also wanted to mention that looking at the moral structure of a Organization like owner and how they operate will have a massive impact on a teams performance, I strongly look at Morality.

Going through all of your videos. Yeah as always I dive hard and dive deep when researching so always lots of questions, but seriously appreciate all of your content. It's quite amazing actually. If I can absorb every bit of your content while being able to work all of the numbers, memorize them, and commit them to my brain to the point where it's easy to do quick calcs, I think I'll have this nailed down as a great ROI, possibly better than my stock investments. lol

Not sure if still replying to comments, but wondering if any advice on when during the day to shop nba prop lines. I’ve seen the move a little back and forth and wondering if any anecdotes for early, mid day (3-5 hours prior) or close to lock (within an hour or so of tip). Thanks! Been down the rabbit hole on your channel lately.

There are various inflection points during the day on props. Lineup information is a key time. Injury status updates are a key time. Check out when NBA.com updates their player status information as a guide.

So around the 12 min mark into ur video ur basically saying if someone finds a way to beat Sportsbooks there frowned upon? Meanwhile Books will take all of a losers action with no complaints but if u happen to find a winning system u could be banned ? Does that make sense to u ? This is where I get confused if books goal is to get money on book sides why do they care if u win? Ur taking money from other bettors supposedly ! Smh
@CaptainJackAndrews
@CaptainJackAndrews 3 жыл бұрын
Sportsbooks rarely have balanced action. They have a liability to one side of a result on any typical game. Likewise sharps rarely disagree on which side is the sharp side of a line. So when sharps win the sportsbook sees that as taking away from profits they would have made if they were able to only book the square action.

It makes as much sense as banning a shopper for using too many coupons. The reality is that THEY set the odds and betting limits and should be required to take all action. The only reason they don't is because our cultural biases are a bit warped. When books and casinos are allowed to discriminate based on skill, they are really just cheating. Having said this...If casinos and books were forced to take all action (It has happened in a couple places) the casinos and books will likely lower limits and create wagers with a higher house edge. So, as strange as it sounds, advantage players are probably better off when casinos do have discretion. One simply has to keep finding new ways to get the cash as the opponents get wiser.

Thanks for the videos. The economy your describing here is not really betting on sports it seems to be like computer hacking. Scrape the website for their odds and then run data against formulas looking for errors that can be exploited. Some sharps get so big they need multiple accounts to get all the money they want to bet. Is there any hope for an average joe like me to be better than 50% or should I find another way to spend my time?
@CaptainJackAndrews
@CaptainJackAndrews 3 жыл бұрын
The answer to that totally depends on who is asking the question. Can someone succeed at this without computer models or heavy math? Yes, I think so. I did a video with Dink just last month that was an hour-long discussion into that. More directly, I've done a few videos on succeeding at sports betting without modeling, or how to build a better bankroll, or hacks to make sportsbetting easier. Check out some of the past webcasts from this summer on my Channel Playlists.

whats the difference between the art of sportsbetting and the science of sportsbetting
@CaptainJackAndrews
@CaptainJackAndrews 3 жыл бұрын
This is something I reference in a lot of my videos. The Science of Sports Betting is fairly well known. It's the math, it's the basic strategy, it's the identifying an edge. The Science is openly discussed by many. The Art of Sports Betting is a bit more nuanced. It's the ability to get money down on a good wager. It's the ability to stay alive at a sportsbook that limits or bans winners. It's the ability to fly under the radar. The Art is not spoken about frequently. It has to be learned through experience and observation. It can't be taught in black and white.

Could you define the term “sharp line”?
@CaptainJackAndrews
@CaptainJackAndrews 3 жыл бұрын
Sports betting is a market, similar to a financial market. The price is shaped by market forces buying/selling. When a market price is hammered into place by sharp bettors, it's considered to be a sharp line. Some sportsbooks have traditionally been much faster at identifying the sharp action and adjusting their numbers accordingly. They're considered to be sharp books which deal a sharp line. Hope that helps.

Best info you get from odds makers. You don’t need any inside info. Coz high numbers people working for odds makers player by players. Match by match. Impossible to know everything. Many people they don’t do homework look for easy money theirs ways to use the others ideas. Become really good loosers.

Captain I know you're smart enough to realize there is much more incentive to not let sharp betters play. A sharp better help shaping a line does no good if they don't have a large amount of business and even then it is probably not profitable as they can get their numbers from other ways. There just is not incentive for a sportsbook to allow sharp action. Your pursuits are noble but misguided.

Peter Liston's book as some info about that. Especially the first half when he goes over his journey with must hit by progressives and their breakeven points. Otherwise you gotta look for slots that have a persistent state, meaning that they don't reset after every spin. Some bank free spins, wilds, multipliers, you'll never really get direct information on a game unless it's by sharing some of your own. There's no skill involved once you know the right numbers/what to look for so people are very protective of their information.
