Sir, my age is 55yrs . I am mechanical engineer. But I had dream to learn electrical engineering and I started learning through your videos. I have started making notes . The best part I like the most is free electron flows from cathode , which is negatively charged. Because students don't know how charge flows. Explanation towards solar cell excellent. Simple and we will never forget. Sir, I have one doubt. Can we see electron with help of any equipment.

26:00 SILICON belongs to Group 14 in the periodic table. Group 14 elements are also known as the Carbon Group and include elements like carbon C silicon Si germanium Ge tin Sn and lead Pb. These elements share similar chemical properties, particularly in their outer electron configuration. Silicon, specifically, is a metalloid element that is commonly used in electronics and various industrial applications due to its semiconductor properties. For elements in the main groups Group 1 to 18 excluding the transition metals the last digit of group number may corresponds to the number of valence electrons. For instance Elements in Group 1 e.g. Hydrogen, Lithium, Sodium have 1 valence electron. Elements in Group 14 e.g. Carbon, Silicon, Germanium have 4 valence electrons. Elements in Group 17 e.g. Fluorine, Chlorine, Bromine have 7 valence electrons. This pattern continues until Group 18 Noble Gases where elements have full valence shells making them stable with the maximum number of valence electrons.

1:16:16 Depletion Layer in a Solar Cell--- Creation of Depletion Region--- Within a solar cell, the p-n junction forms a depletion region or layer. This layer is created due to the diffusion of charge carriers (electrons and holes) across the junction, leading to the establishment of an electric field. Function of the Depletion Layer--- The depletion layer acts as a barrier to the free movement of charge carriers. When the solar cell is not illuminated or under reverse bias, this region prevents the significant flow of current. Upon Illumination--- When sunlight strikes the solar cell, photons are absorbed, generating electron-hole pairs within the semiconductor material. These pairs are created primarily in the region close to the depletion layer. Charge Carrier Separation--- The electric field in the depletion layer separates the generated electron-hole pairs, causing electrons to move toward the n-side and holes toward the p-side of the junction. Assistance in Charge Collection--- The depletion layer facilitates the separation and movement of charge carriers in opposite directions. Forward bias applied across the cell helps in reducing the barrier of the depletion layer, enabling the separated charges to move more freely towards the respective terminals. Electricity Generation--- As explained earlier, the movement of these charge carriers in response to the electric field across the forward-biased p-n junction results in the generation of an electric current, which can be utilized to power external devices or circuits. The depletion layer's role is critical in the operation of a solar cell, particularly in facilitating the separation and movement of charge carriers generated by incident photons, contributing significantly to the conversion of solar energy into electrical energy.

Kindly copy and paste following in description of this video:- 06:30 - Electrons start flowing at the Negative electrode (cathode), while Electricity starts flowing at the Positive electrode (anode). 25:00 - Discusses the differences between n-type and p-type semiconductors. 26:00 - SILICON, a Group 14 element, is a widely used metalloid in electronics due to its semiconductor properties. Group 14 elements share similar chemical traits and have 4 valence electrons. 36:00 - Describes a 'hole' as an empty space in a covalent bond that an electron can fill. In intrinsic semiconductors like silicon, holes are created when electrons break free from covalent bonds due to external influence or thermal energy. 46:36 - Explains the depletion layer formed at the junction of differently doped semiconductors, influencing charge carrier movement and impeding easy current flow. 51:15 - Introduces the relationship between electric field, voltage, and distance, depicting their direct and inverse proportionalities. 55:33 - Discusses reverse bias in a p-n junction, where an external voltage opposes natural charge carrier movement, leading to expanded depletion layers and reduced current flow. 1:01:01 - Differentiates Photoemissive, Photoconductive, and Photovoltaic cells, explaining their operations and applications based on their response to light. 1:07:07 - Planck's equation relates a photon's energy to its frequency, contributing to the understanding of light's quantum nature and its impact on quantum mechanics. 1:08:25 - Details how forward bias in a p-n junction diode facilitates the movement of charge carriers, enabling electric current flow. 1:09:00 - Explains how solar cells convert light energy into electricity through the movement of charge carriers under the influence of an electric field and forward bias. 1:11:11 - Describes photogeneration of charge carriers in solar cells, emphasizing the role of photon absorption and the subsequent movement of electrons and holes. 1:16:16 - Discusses the depletion layer's role in solar cells, including its creation, function as a barrier, and assistance in charge separation to generate electricity. 1:18:18 - Locker Safety at Home
