That's what I was expecting considering Knuckles always tends to overdo it with the handshakes and/or powerbumps, I was kinda disappointed during that... Still a great movie though!

The show has them all be kinda fast but Sonic is faster than them. He’s rarely on a full tilt sprint so it makes sense they kept up with him

2:18 - Here we can see Dr. Robotnik/Eggman drinking some of Agent Stone’s coffee, but you can see that there’s a mushroom on the side of the cup. That is a reference to the film when Eggman meets up with Agent Stone, drinks the coffee, and says “Could use some mushroom.” This is because he spent so much time on the Mushroom Planet and is use to eating mushrooms!

In fact that's because of a deleted scene where Eggman drinks "coffee" made from mushrooms and has lysergic hallucinations where he sees colored lights and his assistant Stone there talking to him.

Having ambition is all it takes to make a videogame adaptation work That's why most videogame adaptations in the past failed, because the studio hired people that didn't understand videogames or filmmaking That's why recent adaptations like "Detetive Pikachu", "Sonic The Hedgehog" and "Arcane" worked, because the people behind it understood the games and the media

Or, arcane worked because they have a lot of practice and time and effort and skill put in. Saying that the other adaptations didn't work because people didn't understand filmmaking is underselling some of them. Saying they didn't understand video games is borderline meaningless. Understanding the story of the thing you are adapting is different to understanding video games. The old Mario bros movie was definitely ambitious...but also insane.

Tails isn't really considered Sonic's Sidekick? Not anymore anyways, he's Sonic's little brother and equal in stopping eggman, Sonic does a lot of the physical stuff while tails is the plans guy

@@Geostelar4920 well tails character depends on what what game he was in and at what Time period for example in the early to late 2000s tails was portrayed as sonic’s sidekick but he was also Able to stand up for himself and he was able to defeat eggman on his own one time during the 2010s however he was portrayed as some wimpy character who couldn’t even defeat the simplest of enemies (luckily in the sonic movie 2 it seems they characterized him differently however) Anyways sorry for this long rant

This came out with perfect timing for me as I just saw the movie yesterday on a DVR recording from last week. The ending with the boulder fit so well because I expected him to throw it at him the whole time when he discovered he was trying to steal the master emerald for himself. Hilarious! I also expected that power bump to hurt in the movie after establishing Knuckle's handshakes, well done!

Fun fact: This was Idris Elba's 4th voice-over role, after Zootopia (2016), The Jungle Book (2016) and Finding Dory (2016), All 3 features were Disney films, making this his 1st non-Disney voice role, in addition to being his 2nd time doing voice over work in a live-action film.
