I love when runners refer to themselves in 3rd person in these kind of videos. It makes it less "look at me, look at me" and more "look at all these people who contributed to the community"

@@gyroninjamodderyeah its just that nhaar is a really common name so the speedrunner and the youtuber are totally different nhaars. Total and utter coincidence. Definitely not that there was one nhaar who knew all about this niche speedrun because he did it himself and then made a video on it. It was a different nhaar who stumbled upon this and did a ton of research spanning multiple years of discord discussions.

Hello new people! To all the people talking about the background music: Yes, you are right, the music is way too loud. I only noticed this once the video started premiering, since I was rushing to get it done for the anniversary and didn't have time to make changes after rendering. This always bothered me so much because I couldn't watch the documentary and enjoy it. @@hellbach8879 PS: Faulheit was pronounced correctly, he isn't german or anything, it's just a nickname. The "Loth-John" incident was because we started correcting that after the first takes, but some ended up not getting replaced :P

Arguably in ASM all routes are equally fast in the limit because of how thin ice works, so the only thing routes can really change is how easy it is to do them perfectly. So unless some teleporter-less route gets discovered I don't think this can go any faster.

Incredible video! I miss the days of coming home from school to play Club Penguin for hours with friends. Thin Ice was always one of the trickiest games (along with Mancala because us 10 year olds could NOT wrap our heads around it). I sunk a lot of time and trial and error into beating it. It's nice to reminisce on these memories, so thanks for that. I miss this game so much haha. All those songs are so nostalgic too. Truly a special game to grow up on.

this was surprisingly engaging. who knew i'd be so invested in a 43 minute video on the history of the speedrunning of a minigame. its something about the different characters and their constantly clashing goals leading to intensifying conflict. im on the edge of my seat seeing who will get the shortest time. great video.

I was surprised to see less than a couple thousands views only on this video, its incredibly well made and interesting to see. I really hope to see more from you if you enjoy making it, I could easily see you racking up the views and subscribers in no time. You definitely have potential to become one of those specialised speedrunning channels like ItsMaximum or Msushi that focus their videos mostly on one or a couple of games, that end up drawing a ton of outside attention to their communities and showing people how interesting they can be.

What a fun speedrun. This is one of those runs that makes me go 'hey I could do that' but then the runners start approaching frame perfect times and I could no longer do that, then they go the final step and get THE frame perfect time.

just had this pop up on my feed at 3am, never would have looked for it on my own but I had to see this entire thing through and ohmyGOD!! absolutely incredible how much time and effort went in to making thin ice fair, accessible and practical for speed running, on top of how much healthy sportsmanship was exhibited between the top runners!! It didn’t seem hostile or aggressive, just a bunch of people who love the game coming together and seeing just how fast they can reach perfection. this was so worth the watch, so so wholesome.

This video reminds me of that "blue yourself Speedrun history" video since it was made by the guy who ran it like a madman from the beginning and fought till the end.
