Did you know that St. John Bosco did apostolate with boys in prison? In this episode, I will tell the story of how he managed to persuade 300 young prison inmates to amend their lives and join him for a long hike without trying to escape. Here is an excerpt from the story:
“Shortly after Easter in 1855, Don Bosco gave the young prisoners Spiritual Exercises. His gentleness and charity had won over even the unruliest. He had succeeded in getting them all but one to approach the holy sacraments. Our saint, moved by their change of heart, resolved to obtain some relief for them. The first thought that came to him was that the boys needed a good hike!”
