Successful use of Storm shadow missiles by ukrainians shows that West should trust Armed forces of Ukraine and give Ukraine more similar ammunition for example ATACMS. US has more than 1000 old ATACMS missiles, that probably will never be used and soon would require money for their disposal. So the best use of those missiles would be giving them to Ukraine.

The real benefits of the Storm Shadow is that it gives the Ukrainians the ability to disrupt and destroy Russian logistics and C2 hundreds of miles behind the lines to include the K52 FARBs. Whether the Russians have sufficient soldiers and tanks is ultimately irrelevant if their ammunition and fuel points are being destroyed. Napoleon said it very well, Amatuers discuss tactics, professionals discuss logistics. " This weapon, in enough quantities, can literally bring an end to war.

Unfortunately for the Kiev regime, persistent misuse of donated weapons has caused France and the US to mistrust Mr Zelenskyy. It does not help that he boasts about always eventually what he wants and I regret that my PM Mr Sunak wanted to do something grandiose at the Munich Conference without having a clue about military matters. I also regret that Mr Wallace tends to fall back too often on his outdated military experience and is not intelligent enough to understand that Kiev is skilled at breaking rules. The use of 3 Storm Shadow missiles on an ex-military college in a populous resort in Crimea was irresponsible as Crimea is counted as "disputed territory" in law and to send the weapons so close to people on beach holidays was cynical. One of the missiles overshot a children's play area and plopped into the sea. It will remain an active hazard until it is destroyed. We UK taxpayers have already paid too much to a wasteful careless regime and this has to stop. Mr Wallace now must be replaced by a minister of defence who is intellectually and diplomatically up to the job.

They need a programmable timer fuse on these smart weapons so they go off automatically after certain battlefield conditions are met. Like a downed smart missile. So you would set it say one minute after expected time of impact, based on programmed targeting coordinates, to then self destruct. Plus smart logic for it to explode if in enemy held territory that's confirmed by GPS, inertia navigation and terrain mapping co-ordinates. Pretty stupid really not to have such smarts data updated in the main warhead section. Just needs a CPU and EPROM memory and battery, that gets updated in real time during the flight of the missile. It could even recalculate the missiles crashlanding trajectory based on last known speed, direction and altitude. It could be pre-programmable for self destruction once required conditions are met. This missile and all its bits and pieces could have self destructed, if they had those smarts linked into the warhead section.

It is interesting that this video came out three days ago, at the same time another story came out that Russia has captured an in-tact Storm Shadow. Considering that Russia is already jamming HIMARS and MOABs, being able to work through the design of the Storm Shadow will only increase Russia's ability to deflect this missile as well.

@@JimCarner Absolutely. We never should have picked a proxy fight with Russia in the first place. The way it stand right now, China is simply Biden their time, waiting for America to expend more munitions and weapons in Ukraine. We we get bogged down or we lose interest they will take Taiwan. Now I personally think they will also use that time to take Guam away from the US as well. To be quite frank, short of nuclear weapons, with everything we have already lost in Ukraine, I don't think we have the ability to stop China from taking Taiwan, Guam, or frankly Hawaii.

That would actually be the second almost intact Storm Shadow missile that the Russians have gotten their hands on. The first was two weeks ago. A French manufactured Storm Shadow. The Russians are getting very good at dealing with NATO weapons. The F16s won't make much difference either. If they are shooting down cruise missiles, I think the F16 will be a very easy target.

Ukraine isn’t over committing but when it does fully break through, and it will it has dozens of well trained battalions left to get the job done. It will likely take years of relative stalemate though. This isn’t a video game. Ukraine needs longer range weapons as Russia has fallen back so far

Ukraine cannot defeat Russia, this is true. But they don't have to defeat Russia in a conventional sense. They don't have to take Moscow. Russia's stated objective is the demilitarization and 'de-Nazification' of Ukraine. This requires a total victory to accomplish. Ukraine's stated objective is to preserve its sovereignty and reclaim occupied territories. This requires only that they push the war into a stalemate. To achieve victory, Russia must conquer the entirety of Ukraine. Meanwhile Ukraine must only survive to achieve victory. In a war like this, the bigger army isn't always assured victory. One need only look at the Revolutionary War, the Vietnam War, both the USA and USSR's invasions of Afghanistan, and Russia's first invasion of Chechnya.
