Boiling it down, how I hear it: 80s = simple rhyme, bouncy flow, story with a moral / 90s = complex rhyme, punchy flow, story as a journal / 00s = complex rhyme, poppy cadence, stories to flex / 10s = simple rhyme, complex flow, stories to flex and protest -> Makes me think that the pain of trying to “stick to the bright side” in the 80s trickled down to the jaded “only bright side is these diamonds” ideology of today. Such an insightful and enjoyable watch :) ✨
