How Tears of the Kingdom's lore SECRETLY connects to Zelda Lore (Zelda Theory)

How does the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's lore connect to Zelda lore and the zelda timeline and how can we "fix" it? As always, the answer is the Triforce. In this Zelda Theory, I will be presenting the entire Zelda timeline, as reframed by this games secret connections to Zelda lore at large, and answering when TotK's memories take place, and the lore of the calamity (hint, it's a time loop)
This theory before the Master Works book

So I just finished the video and I think that we have fairly similar ideas about the game’s story concepts and ties to Skyward Sword. There are some nitpicks that I have with your theory as well as some personal embellishments I would add from my own ponderings. I’d like to discuss them with you if that’s possible, but KZfaq comments are hardly a good place for that considering how often completely innocuous messages have been getting deleted lately. I was wondering if you would be up for having a discussion on Discord or another platform?

Loved it, only breadcrumb to offer is "The descriptions of the First Calamity line up scary well with descriptions of the War against Demise." In the first, we get what seems like an incarnation/priestess of Hylia and her Chosen Hero sealing away an Incarnation of Demise, alone save four divine beasts and an army of guardians. In the second, we have Hylia and her Chosen Hero sealing away an incarnation of Demise, ostensibly alone after having sent everyone to safety in the sky. They could very well be two differing but non-exclusionary accounts of the same event.

Further evidence that the past in totk predates skyward sword is that, while Zelda comes back from the future, link is not present to fight ganandorf which must mean that the reincarnation cycle hasn't yet started

If I may, I want to run a theory that I've had in my head for a few years regarding Girahim. It should be noted that Girahim and Fi have the same aesthetic design. Diamond motifs, similar hair, the same eyes (when not in disguise). Consider for a moment the Trident of Darkness as it appears in Four Swords Adventure. An all-black trident with a red gemstone, hidden away by the Gerudo in a pyramid. With the inscription that says that it will allow its wielder to "become the King of Darkness." What if Girahim, Demise's living weapon, didn't merely fade away? What if Girahim still exists as Ganondorf's chosen weapons? Recall that while Fi only takes the form of the single blade, Girahim creates multiple blades. Sabers, daggers, a claymore... So why not a trident? One that Ganondorf's kin would seal away in the hopes that their rogue king would never find?

Yaaaaaaaas. I feel like the lore in this game is so Beautifully vague and really fun to speculate about. It makes the entire franchise feel even MORE like plausible legends from the past, like we keep getting pieces of it, but never the full story. That's the most fun way to tell a story, I think. It keeps the mystery in tact while also paving the way for some really fun revelations. Good work my guy.
@zachhiggins1668

Totally. Zelda lore is kinda unique where it somehow manages to straddle the line between there being concrete answers a somehow creating a fertile bed for imaginative speculation that isn't just crazy, but might be legit. Almost like a puzzle that doesn't just fit together one way but it's not just chaos either. You can literally solve the "puzzle" a few different ways
@NathanTRousseau
@NathanTRousseau 9 сағат бұрын
@@zachhiggins1668 Exactly. And like... that's basically the fun of studying history anyway, since we can never truly Truly know what happened. And there's never really one answer, since every person's perspective can be so different. Like there's for sure a true version, but the fun part is reasoning and trying to figure out if it works! Then sometimes someone comes along with new evidence and it completely changes everything!

Wasn't expecting that one for sure. I'm skeptical about Demise sending TOTK Ganondorf as a minion. I mean, we clearly see in Skyward Sword that he despises his subordinates, as shown when he turns Ghirahim back into his demon sword. To me, Demise would clearly be worried of TOTK Ganondorf breaking away from his control and getting the Triforce for himself (which also matches TOTK Ganondorf's character better as well). I still believe that TOTK past takes place eons after the timeline we know of and that Rauru and Sonia just created a new Hyrule. Fun theory though.

This is legendary imo. This all connects so well, But maybe it's because I'm a big TOTK fan despite it's flaws. ( I think TOTK has so much creative potential that wasn't capitalized on, but it leaves so much room for brainstorming and imagination!) I very much like the Sheikah and the royal family being sister families descended from Rauru and Sonia. I lends credence to the Idea that Hyrule was "restarted" more than once. Rauru's Hyrule was the first, was halted after the Wars between Hylia and Demise, only to be reinstated by Hylia-reincarnated Zelda, intentionally obscuring the Zonai into myth. Also, It's fitting that Hylia decided to be reincarnated into the bloodline of her most devoted priestess Sonia (presumably.)

This theory is very similar to the one I created and have been peddling around different comment sections In mine i argued that the Zelda who time travels all the way back is actually interpreted by history to be Hylia herself, a blonde "goddess" who showed up one day to help protect the people and the triforce before vanishing suddenly And I also tried to ground Ganondorf I this way by explaining the Ganondorf we see get the stones and transforming into the Dark Demon king is Demise himself. Demise isn't controlling that past Ganondorf, that past Ganondorf WAS Demise before getting that power. And the Demise we see in Skyward is a manifestation of that locked away power

This is close to my own position on the story, at least regarding TOTK Gamondorf = Demise. I dont think that Zelda becoming Hylia makes as much sense unfortunately because its pretty clear Demise’s musings on Zelda compared to Hylia that she is a shadow of her former self and was absolutely an ascended being of sorts. I really doubt that Demise is supposed to be an unreliable narrator in regards to this description.
@UltimateTobi
@UltimateTobi 23 сағат бұрын
That would contradict how Demise described her. He felt it'd be an insult to Hylia to compare her to a "mere sack of flesh" that Zelda is in SS. He likened Hylia to a magnificent being beyond comprehension. That is definitely not BotW/TotK Zelda.

Love the enthusiasm. The insanity of zelda theorists and the complex lore is what's so fun about the series. I don't get the pessimism after TOTK from fans who say the timeline is ruined or whatever. It feels like they gave up but I think it just means trying harder to dig through everything and make sense of it. I'm excited to see what comes next in the series. Personally, I think theres a possibility they might be building up to ending the cycle of rebirth. Maybe that's wishful thinking because the last two games made me ship Link and Zelda, and the only way I can see they properly being together is if the cycle ends. Buuuutt at the same time it's supposed to be and endless cycle and there's something really appealing about that.

The eye symbol was clearly taken from the Zonai to the Shiekah and not the other way around. As Rauru actally HAS the third eye on his forehead that looks exactly like the symbol and it's very unlikely that he was so inspired by the sheikah that he just... grew a third eye

I love this idea. I agree with everything said here. I think the only thing I disagree with is the reason this video was made. People are burnt out of Totk lore and all that because all the trailers and hype leading up to totk made us believe it would have this grand story that would answer all these questions. We mostly got more questions. Totk lore is interesting, and this video is really really interesting and points out things we haven't seen before, but I don't think anyone can be blamed for being pessimistic about totk lore. This video mostly disregards the actual story presented to you by totk aside from some main points (zelda going back, ganondorf's actions, etc) and I think that's a good thing. totk's story needed wayyyyyyyy more fleshing out, and it's also the thinking of "but this is the story of the game, we should focus on that." you were willing to dive deeper and think outside the walls of the story to reach for some pretty believable stuff. goddess sword being zonai technology? bit of a fucking reach. when it's explained a little further? hm that makes sense... all in all amazing video. I just wish totk had more in it to help push your ideas and less demon king? secret stone?

Alright. I was a stanch believer that Rito and Zora are so connected that it becomes almost impossible to just say they evolved differently overtime in BOTW. Where I believed there has to be timeline shenanigans. But the explanation that the word Rito just means “Bird people” and can describe different races to be the same? And that’s how you also explain Zora since there are different fish people? Alright. Fair enough. I can’t even argue against that. Edit: Also that does make sense with the correlation to how Impa and the first Shieka was connected to queen Sonia. And how they are priests that followed the orders to Hylia. But it also makes more sense since I thought Mineru when she passed on, would of bestowed her sagehood to Purah. Both are very similar, tinkerers that do the impossible, even altering their physical body, in the name of research. And with that connection of the priestess being Shieka and how Sonia married Rauru, that would mean the title of the sage of spirit would go to a Shieka. Also that detail on the goddess sword being Zonai replicating the master sword that they had seen. Fi being almost like a godly AI siri for the master sword, and how we DO see another goddess sword in TOTK means there could of been more prototypes of the goddess sword. So there are ways that they could make more master sword like swords using them. AND THAT COULD EXPLAIN ALL THE REST OF THE SWORDS. The 4 sword, the locomotive sword, the phantom sword, etc. etc. They all could be goddess swords that were repurposed for different tasks, but can still act similarly to the master sword when fighting other demons.

I love this timeline theory! And your point about Demise’s hatred exploding into the first Calamity is something I’ve been thinking about for a while, myself-my version being that something could’ve happened at the end of each of the split timelines that was so cataclysmic it caused the three to merge. Some triple resurgence of Ganon that: (a) merged into one super-Ganon (i.e. the tapestry Calamity), merging the timelines along with itself… OR (b) was such a threat to each respective Hyrule that the goddesses had to merge the timelines to deal with all three Ganons at once.
@nerijas5295
@nerijas5295 2 сағат бұрын
I also considered the idea that Rauru and Sonia’s kingdom could’ve been the first *attempt* at Hyrule, which was tragically destroyed before it could really flourish. After that first Imprisoning War, the remaining peoples of the land were so devastated and the land so ravaged, they set aside the idea of a kingdom until after Skyward Sword. Maybe the king who would become the owl spirit and Sage of Light in Ocarina chose, or was given, the name Rauru to honor the memory of the original king. A way of taking TOTK Rauru’s legacy and saying, “We’re going to try this again. We’re going to resurrect what you began, and make it flourish.”
@nerijas5295

ALSO, I just really love the idea of TOTK Zelda watching over Hyrule’s entire history, being secretly present in all of the games-maybe even being the source of all the light-based power-ups or assists Link receives just before the various final battles. Each mortal Zelda inherits/is blessed with the Light Dragon’s energy, which can manifest as light arrows or as direct attacks by Zelda herself (as in Windwaker). Conversely, it’s so chilling to think of TOTK Ganondorf lying beneath Hyrule through its entire history, just waiting to finish what *he* started-the total destruction of the world of light. It’s a very “as above, so below” kind of structure, with the sleeping Light Dragon in the sky balancing the dormant Demon King in the Depths.

I haven't watched the video, but to me I'll always be annoyed that Tears feels more like a reboot than connected to the rest of the games, when with just a few minor changes it could've been a direct companion piece to Skyward Sword. Replace Ganondorf in the past with Demise, Mineru with Hylia, make Hylia a zonai who rose Skyloft in answer to Demise's war on the surface, have the Ganondorf Rauru trapped in ancient times be an early incarnation of the king who tried to take Demise's power for himself, and make the zonai the ones who built the Lanayru Desert robots and temples and all that. Would've fit so well and they barely needed to change anything.

I like the theory. Although I don't know what I think about totk past taking place before ss 🤔 It still feels distinctly after imo. Like the hylains seem very barbaric compared to any of the other people. Which would make sense if they just came from the sky to start over. existing , efore demises curse just rubs me the wrong way. But I don't see why (with a bit of altering). This theory couldn't work in reverse. Demises war happens, then the zonai tech is fashioned after the more basic laynayru tech. The sheikah eye symbology would also originate here and then be used by the zonai. As for the Zora and rito. The Zora evolved from the jelly fish people, then the rito split from their or have just always existed and migrated to hyrule (birds migrate all the time so this could be an option) plus we know the triforce was hidden away but NOT put in the Sacred realm until oot rauru builds his temple of time. So it could still be underground. Additionally, some people argue oot and totk Rauru can't both have built their temple around this time because it's too close together. To that, I argue. Uh, no. We know Rauru (oot) makes his temple of time in castle town. We also know that it has to be made sometime after the minish cap because there is a severe lack of a temple of time in a minish cap. Therefore, we can assume it hasn't been constructed yet. That leaves a few hundred years, which is more than enough time for Rauru to make his temple, it raise to the sky, then new rauru to build his temple of time. Now, I want to address a few other arguments I want to address. 1: Isn't it narratively repetitive to have 2 temples of times made? A: Temples are destroyed and rebuilt all the time in irl history. B: This franchise is literally about history inevitably repeating itself (not literally, of course) 2: why do the geruod have long ears? Does that mean it's actually after all the other games? Nope. Just means they recently split from the hylians, and currently, some still maintain pointed ears, but thanks to G-man, we see that trait beginning to fade away. I will admit there are a few solid points to your theory as well. Such as the goddess sword and impa looking just like Sonia. But those don't also have to only work one way. Perhaps sonia is a descendent of impa. Perhaps the goddess sword was still made in conjunction with the zonai. We dont know how long they have been vibing in the sky. Maybe they evolve from one of the races already in the sky. Like the remaining hylians. Who knows? Anyways, thanks for coming to my Ted talk. I'll probably be making a video about this at some point.

I just watched this, but I wish I had seen it a month earlier. The love for this game is refreshing since it feels like everyone actually hates the game now and it’s always been bad. And while I don’t agree with everything said in this video (which is fine because it’s speculation) A lot of what was said is something that I think is definitely a possibility. Just two things for me personally; I always thought or considered Rauru and Sonya’s Hyrule to be at the start of the Wild Era. Given the gap in-between the three timelines and this one, I always thought their Hyrule was one that was re-established. It wouldn’t be the first time either, as Link and Tetra establish a Hyrule, as told in the opening of Spirit Tracks. This and I’m honesty not a fan of the “Goddess Sword is actually Zonai tech”, for no reason other than it makes the blade feel less mystical, but how it interacts with Fuse does lend it some credibility. That aside, I would like to add some evidence that we shouldn’t take everything we’re told in-game at face value as not only does each Zelda game take places years in-between another (say for direct sequel games), but we have a quote from Fi that says as much. This is a direct quote from Skyward Sword; “Ah yes, the oral tradition, one of the least reliable methods of information retention and transmission.” Now I know she’s referring to information that’s passed by way of ‘word of mouth’, but it still holds true, and a lot of the time, history is skewed, either heavily or lightly. Some things will be forgotten about, like Rauru and Sonya, who Zelda, despite being a descendant of, didn’t recognize. All this to say that I think a lot of people are being strangely unfair towards this game when it comes to the story. There’s a lot of strange notions with no basis for them to stand. I’ve heard people make wild claims out of annoyance that the Secret Stones are more important and powerful than the Triforce, and that the Zonai mean more to the franchise than the Golden Goddesses ever did, simply because they were introduced/focused on in this game. And yes, I’ve heard countless people whine and complain that the story doesn’t care about the pre-established lore of the series, which is weird to think about. People constantly insist that the timeline doesn’t matter, and that it never did, or that they personally don’t care about the timeline. If that’s the case, and they (‘they’ meaning the players, not Nintendo) don't care about the timeline, then why’re they so up-in-arms about TotK potentially contradicting what came before? Why is it you care now of all times when you say you didn’t before? It’s frustrating that people think this way about the game, and I just don’t understand why.

Yeah this theory reaches a lot more into fanfic than realistic. Like the Rito on the walls in Twilight Princess wasn't in the original game, that was a new texture made for the HD remaster and as far as we know wasn't really made with intent. It may have just been a further reference to Breath of the Wild, remember that TP HD also has pictures of Breath of the Wild's teasers in Malo Mart. Plus there's no proof in the stories there was any kingdom prior to Skyward Sword. We know hylians lived on the surface, but none of the documents call it Hyrule, they just blanket call it the surface. This even used as a joke when Groose calls it Grooseland Plus we do see the other races in Skyward Sword showing that they weren't placed anywhere extra, the Gorons openly wander in game and the zora were living in lake floria. The zora also didn't need any protection because they lived along side the water dragon. There's also not many remnants of any kingdoms on the surface with the most complex structures being the mining facility. Another major issue is the Sealed Grounds is not seen in BotW nor Tears, it's a place that supposedly the Temple of Time was built on, but no remnant of the Sealed Grounds exists. There is the largest Goddess statue which is said to be the oldest, but it's not found remotely close to the Temple of Time. The lore of the lost temple says it's not the Sealed Grounds saying it was made to honor the hero instead of being it's original location, plus the statue is far too small to be the same one and lacks the jumping platform.

I believe it has to do with the many references to The Wind Waker like the new rendition of Dragoon Roost Island serving as the official theme song for this new Rito, Kass's daughters singing said song themselves creating a direct connection to the original Rito who lived in the Great Sea and the constant ambiguity regarding their origin in the Era of the Wild giving credence at Nintendo's willingness to leave it possible for this new Rito to have descended from the ones of the Era from the Great Sea.

I like this view of things a lot, especially tying the temples in TotK with the sky realm in Skyward Sword. It makes a lot of sense, in particular the ark. I also really like the idea that Impa and the Sheikah are also descendants of Sonia and Rauru. There are two things I don't really subscribe to though, one being the ancient hero also being one of their children. Gossip Guest has a couple of shorts that have woven into my personal head canon that he's a Lomei: kzfaq.infoKKcrJMpuruA?si=quTp-3Oh0tehIb1y kzfaq.info0raUJae89tY?si=HXgCu_suv0BRi8cz The other part is Calamity Ganon being the Ocarina of Time Ganondorf, since Ganondorf was killed in all three timelines (Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and the original Legend of Zelda), but the idea that the TotK Ganondorf is the original and still alive throughout all three timelines deep underground is very compelling. What if the hatred and power built up so much that he's also the reason the timelines converge? He becomes so massive his power bleeds over and becomes the Calamity, but is only truly awoken when he comes into contact with Zelda herself, but this causes her to go back in time for your theory, creating a time bubble that encompasses all of the events. I hope that makes sense, either way I'm with you regarding the pessimism surrounding TotK's fans, I've always felt each game is mostly its own thing unless stated otherwise, allowing each new one to go in directions we don't expect. Sometimes they don't the way we would like them to, but I'm glad the team is willing to shake things up.

It was my understanding that ganondorfs entire motivation for what he did was a bit racist towards the Zonai, they are creatures not originally from Hyrule, who become leaders just because of the power they have. Also, the original story was supposed to be that Zonai had special magic powers, but the developers turned that into mostly advanced technology because they wanted the object you could build with to look like objects of our real world.

This is an interesting theory but it leads me to another question. What about the castle? In ToTK, there is a stone slab that states Hyrule castle was built to reinforce Rauru’s seal. However, Hyrule Castle has been invaded and captured many times like in OoT and TP. Wouldn’t events such as those weaken the seal. Could it be that the knowledge of the seal was forbidden to be told? If people knew where the seal was, people like kohga could have purposefully damaged the seal. So could they have decided to build the next Hyrule castle away from the seal causing that knowledge to disappear over time? If that’s the case, then why rebuild on top of it? Could something have happened to the seal thousands of years before BoTW to greatly damage it leading to the rediscovery of the remains of Ganondorf and Rauru and building a new castle on top of them?
@BR1CK_Lawliet
@BR1CK_Lawliet Ай бұрын
I personally would suggest the Great Plateau and OoT's Hyrule (or at least a part of it) are the "same", meaning Hyrule castle of OoT would be at the spot where the bomb shrine of botw was located in. When Ganondorf Dragmire created his Dark Castle we see a reddish substance flowing out of the casm beneath, that would be the Malice or Gloom of Corpse-dorf. After OoT, the castle on top of the seal from Rauru that holds Ganondorf is finished in construction, relocating Hyrule to what I would call "Greater Hyrule" (thats why Hebra's snowy mountains, Death Mountain etc line up pretty well with Twilight Princess). I would say that Hyrule castle wasn't really destroyed by Ganondorf at the end of Twilight Princess but hardly damadged. That castle got restored easily to its former glory until Four Swords Adventure, which depicts a stylelized version of it. In FSA Ganon the Second drains Hyrule of its magic, weakening the seal even more. The weakend seal lets malice pure out to a far stronger scale than before and reawakened some consciousness in it, thus forming the first Calamity (the calamity has some consciousness, it wouldnt be capable of making plans like in botw). Calamity after Calamity acours weakening the seal more and more but never destroying it or Hyrule castle, until TotK where it is fully destroyed, reviving Corpse-dorf. The knowledge could be just forgotten for everyone except the Royal family, turned into myth if you want so, if we take to account that Koume and Kotake exist in TotK's past and OoT, that alone would be around 400years between those events, 500years until Twilight Princess and at least 900 years between Ganondorfs seal underground and FSA, alternatively the Shiekah could have silenced the knowledge outside of the royal family by force, leaving only the royal family with that knowledge. I would also like to point out that the amplyfied powers of Rauru due to his sealing stone and his absorbtion of Ganondorfs magic could have maded that seal this strong easily, he essentialy used two secret stones at the same time "You bind my heart and steal my magic. You plan to hold me here...". Hope I could give some solutions.

Totk Ganondorf does have a Ganon form. It's the Dragon Form. The eye symbol was clearly taken from the Zonai to the Shiekah and not the other way around. As Rauru actally HAS the third eye on his forehead that looks exactly like the symbol and it's very unlikely that he was so inspired by the sheikah that he just... grew a third eye Overall, there is a lot of holes in this theory/story. The best point in this video, is that goddess sword similiarity to zonai technology. All the rest is rather weak. But TotK story is amazing and you would have to be completely devoid of sentiment to think otherwise. What it does, well, probably the best in all of the industry, is not necesarily the story itself, but it's story TELLING. It effectively, through your search for Zelda, makes the player actually care about her, the longer he spends with the game. To the point when, where people get to the big reveal (spoilers ahead folks), people actually cry like babies. Go watch all the people reactions on this. Myself included. People were crying like hell when they discovered, that Zelda sacrificed herself to fix the Master sword for you, the player. And then when they realized, she was floating around the starting island, when you played the tutorial. And then when the game cleverly interrupts cutscene to catch Zelda, gives control back to you, THE PLAYER - to go and catch her. Ends with a camera frame resembling the very first cutscene in the game, where Link previously fails to catch her, now he succceds through your hand - people just lose it. Emotionally YOU CAN FEEL THE IMPACT. This is what makes for a good story, if you're emotionally touched like that. And people were. People cried, including myself. That is a good story.

It’s a cool idea. I disagree a lot but I appreciate the video and it’s intent. I just can never get how the past of Totk is ever at the start of the timeline. Yes it’s a time loop but I don’t see how it isn’t post every other game. I don’t see how lon Lon ranch survived tens of thousands of years, a timeline split, a flood, just to be ruined by the calamity. As much as that’s a joke it’s kinda what I mean. I don’t like the idea of having a second Zelda and Ganondorf in stasis for the entire franchise canonically. It’s always made more sense to me that pre timeline convergence (which personally I like the idea that draconification is related to that) a world ending event happened forcing the gods to step in (like the flood) sending the zonai to reestablish order to her land. (Assuming hylia over the 3 goddesses for this) Then having that new ganondorf seal, that ganondorfs malice festers into the calamity (hence the name it’s from him but not explicitly his own gloom powers, just his own malice for being sealed for millennials.) I also like placing the past of Totk at the end of the timeline because it feels like an inverse to Hylias sacrifice to me. Hylia gave up her immortality and thus we have the royal bloodline with the Zelda’s. Now Zelda is sacrificing her mind and mortality to ensure link gets what he needs to stop “the king of evil” It’s like an inversion of SW to me. So placing the past of Totk at the start of the timeline always sat weird with me.

Ok... but then again they couldn't decide whether or not the og temple of time was on the ground or in the air before Zelda draconified herself. My main point on not liking the lore is that it is not thought out in many ways and undeniably does contradict itself, not make sense or just is outright stupid in the context of supposedly being a few years after botw. This personally ruins the main fun of exploration and learning more about the world, because going out of my way to find some lore that I actively do not want to learn about because it worsens the world building. Also, just saying. *THIS IS NINTENDO.* If the triforce was involved it would be stupidly obvious. Plus, don't you think there would be reference to the fact they have to protect a treasure from the *GODS OF THE LAND* at any point in the multitude of times they talk about the imprisoning war? I want the game to have good lore too man, but this is a fan fiction, not a theoretical answer to the question which Nintendo did not even think would exist. Tldr. This isn't a theory. This is trying to make a non existent story into a fan fiction, not at all a bad thing, but there is no evidence that hylia even exists outside of skyward sword... It's just not backed up man.

I dont want to be this guy but this doesnt work for a lot of reasons. Hylia was known and still worshiped in the era of the Zonai as we can see by the existence of a Hylia statue in the Zonai Temple of Time, and the Forgotten Temple which uses architecture borrowed from Skyward Sword. The Spring of Courage is also clearly meant to be Skyview Spring, and if it had a giant Zonai dragon built over that woukd have had ro have happen after the Skyview Temple decayed away. Moreover Skyward Sword says rhe desertification of Lanayru happened because of the Robots mining timeshift stones which was an order given to them by the Lanayru dragon which was a direct servant of Hylia. Similarly Sonia mentions Zelda has a sacred sealing power, and shes referring to the power she got by being a direct descendant of Skyward Sword Zelda who is Hylia reborn. Also rhe Stormwind Ark has a origin story in TotK.

Ok I'll go one by one explaining why your points don't really break the theory, also sorry for the huge text. 1- "Hylia was known and still worshiped in the era of the Zonai as we can see by the existence of a Hylia statue in the Zonai Temple of Time, and the Forgotten Temple which uses architecture borrowed from Skyward Sword" • Yeah, he never mentioned in the theory that Hylia didn't existed before TOTK Imprisoning War, she was around even before the Zonais showed up, Demise sent his demons (as stated in Skyward Sword) after sometime that Ganondorf was imprisoned, and without the Zonai, Hylia needed to step up and protect the Hylians. 12:31 - 13:15 2- ''The Spring of Courage is also clearly meant to be Skyview Spring, and if it had a giant Zonai dragon built over that would have had to have happen after the Skyview Temple decayed away." • Ok, first the spring that is meant to be the Skyview Spring in Botw and Totk, is the Spring of power, the one in Akkala, the Botw Spring of Courage never appeared in Skyward Sword. • But regarding the Dragon Structure if you finish the ''Investigating Typlo Ruins" sidequest in TOTK, there is a monolith that states that all that Zonai ''dark grey ruins'' were built after the Imprisonig War as an homage to Rauru and the Sages. • Kinda off topic but, the only structures that are pretty strange are the Labyrinths, the Labyrinth part is made with the white zonai ancient stones, but the outside is made with the Hylian's stones. But maybe the Zonai, of the Zonais era just worked together with the Hylians to build the Labirynts for no big reason. 3- ''Moreover Skyward Sword says the desertification of Lanayru happened because of the Robots mining timeshift stones which was an order given to them by the Lanayru dragon which was a direct servant of Hylia'' • He never said that the desertification didn't happened, he says that before it was a grassland it was a desert, the desert that we see in the Dragon's Tears. Then Rauru and Sonia's daughter created the robots and timeshift stones to make the desert a grassland 14:55 - 17:48 4- "Similarly Sonia mentions Zelda has a sacred sealing power, and shes referring to the power she got by being a direct descendant of Skyward Sword Zelda who is Hylia reborn." • As stated, in the theory he never said that Hylia didn't existed before the Zonai, and Zelda came from the future, so it doesn't matter if Hylia didn't became Skyward Sword Zelda yet. 5- "Also The Stormwind Ark has a origin story in TotK" • Ok, first of all it is a song that has been passed since ancient times, more than 10.000 years, which means that 99% chance that the lyrics lost a lot of meaning along the time. • But also the lyrics are: "Once, a god fell from heaven, stilling the Hebra winds. The heavens grew lifeless, just as the air below thinned. With the world in upheaval, we pledged to help the lord. A line of ships soaring, built as a passage skyward. The god ascended to heaven, leaving behind an ark. Its winds brought us new life, thanks to its great, divine spark." • This just make more sense with the theory that Hylia lifted the Islands from all the races after Demise's awaken in the Ancient Battle. 20:50 - 22:27.

@@akuatro the map in Skyward Sword isn't literal. The areas are much further apart than they appear otherwise you'd be able to see Lanayru Desert from Faron or Faron from Eldin, and you can't. Moreover the Spring of Power has a quarry outside of it, and a quarry only forms from subterranean geothermal activity, which is basically what the entirety of the Earth Temple from Skyward Sword is. The fact that it looks like Skyview Spring can be chalked up to a coincidence as its clear both springs have undergone a large amount of change between Skyward Sword and BOTW. Imo I think it's likely that the Spring of Power/Earth Spring went forgotten about for a long time up until the quarry outside it was discovered and then the spring probably got dug out. Imo I think the timeline would be: Hylia era when places like Skyview Temple and the Earth Temple were built, these temples possibly being built alongside some fraction of Zonai given their heavy emphasis on three eyes. | Skyward Sword/Giant Hylia statue falls to the ground | Earliest Hylian era which focused on the construction of places like the Forgotten Temple, the Lanayru Promenade, and Spring of Wisdom. | Era of Chaos is kicked off by Interloper War > | EoC rages in after Interloper War | Zonai descend to help quell Interloper War, alongside OOT Rauru they rebuild the Temple of Hylia and seal the Sacred Realm, they also build stuff like the Stormwind Ark, the Water Temple, the Zonai Temple of Time and so on. This is the Era where the room with the Secret Stones in the Forgotten Temple was built. Most of the Zonai are wiped on in the EoC | Rauru and Sonia found Hyrule, several years later the Imprisoning War happens. | Ruins like Thyploo are built after this but before everything else. The Skyview Spring is built over by the giant dragon. | Other games | 10K Sheikah era happens, this is the Era the labyrinths are built in. | At some point the Spring of Power is unearthed.

Oh this was absolutely an issue. We had years to wait so speculations went crazy. Expectations built for a game that was simply never planned. I think the biggest issue was “a direct sequel” just misled expressions. Not that the games perfect. I’ve got my problems with the sky and plot etc like anyone else. But I also don’t expect the lore to take the front seat either. Like clearly fuse and ultrahand are where a good chunk of development went. Kind of a side note ramble because it’s fun, but I find too often people try and connect Botw and Totk directly with the older games. When we call them the wild games for a reason. They are effectively a soft reboot so it’s allowed to play with the rules more. It’s quite literally potentially hundreds of thousands of years post WW. Tens of thousands for sure. Like the time between Botw and the rest (including the past of Totk with the zonai) can happen longer in the future the skyward sword is to twilight princess. 10,000’s of years lmao Mythology changes and the world is literally magical. The triforce is the relic of deities who said it has to follow strict laws. TLDR: I agree, I find people let their expectations taint their opinions on Totk and can’t not compare to what they thought it could be.

Like the criticisms I do agree with are, the sky is underwhelming for how much it was marketed. The depths is still my favourite part but it is odd that it’s a single biome throughout. The dungeons are a step up but really only the lightning and spirit where good as dungeons imo. Wind was neat but not the dungeon itself. The sages are annoying to use. Spoilers I do think Zelda coming back at the end is disappointing, I was so down for a game where she straight up sacrificed herself and they had to figure shit out without the royal family at all. Might be unsatisfying but it’s not like she’s dead, she’s literally an important guardian now. Wanna talk about breaking conventions of Zelda. That would do away with the royal family while still keeping “the legend of Zelda” Then you can have game post dragon Zelda and pre dragon Zelda games since you have that time gap still. I think it’s a missed opportunity personally. But ultimately Totk is an open world sandbox, I’m not torn up about Zelda coming back because I’m spending 2 minutes watching that cutscene, while I spent 100hr driving a car around the province to save your ass, I’m honestly content spending more time playing with the physics engine and seeing what man made horrors Nintendo let us create.

@@anubion42 oh for sure I agree with most of your criticisms. It’s just to me, it was obvious the creators were more concerned with creating a fun game than trying to work within an established lore which makes sense and I’m happy they did that. They have always been clear that that has always been their priority, and the whole timeline thing was intended to be a fun thing for fans to speculate. The game itself is great (imo) with flaws, like any other game, but to judge it based off of what it isn’t doesn’t seem fair to me. They purposely set the game so far into the future to leave the past connection to older games up to speculation, and I do like that. Leaving things unexpected like how thinks connect leave a fun air of mystery to things. I do want to say, I think it would have made a big impact if there was bigger consequences (link losing his arm, Zelda not coming back) but for them to make games further into the future they do need the goddesses bloodline to continue so I understand why they didn’t do that, it’s less complicated to wrap everything up in a happy ending

The game's story going in an unexpected direction is one thing. The game's story being a horrible written mess full of plotholes is another. The sacred stones being power amplifiers make no sense because Ganondorf with one stone can over power Rauru and 5 sages fighting beside him, but then Rauru can overpower him solo. This also completely disregards the dev's comment about the game's theme of "hands" and connections: you win after discarding the dead weight. Link basically does the same in the present as Rauru already did in the past. Everything involving the characters around the assassination is them just being stupid. To Sonia and Zelda not thinking through confronting Ganondorf without Rauru, to Rauru just going back to being a passive king dismissing the threat when that behavior just cost him his queen. The ending is completely deus ex machina because it is completely unearned. Everything gets returned to status quo. No sacrifices or learned lessons. Completely worthless narrative. It's not even a reward for a complete memory collection. You just get the happy ending, even without the player getting the Master Sword. The fact recall exists is the only thing that makes it work. Except it's still BS because recall working in the finale makes the opening completely illogical. There's no way recall, even with the stone, would send Zelda (that she doesn't even know how to use) all the way back 10s of thousands of years. If anything she would be rewound back to the top of the no longer existing cliff. The plot also just gave her the broken Master Sword through the Temple of Time. Neither Zelda nor Link truly triggered that instance of magic. By minimum those instances should've been done by Sonia's spirit to warrant her popping up in the finale. These are all problems with the story _presented_ and have nothing to do with the Zonai (and Zelda) being retconned after BotW or issues with the general timeline. These are solely "the game's story is bad" criticism.

@@amandaslough125 okay? I didn’t say all criticism are bad, I said most that I’ve seen. You just made a ton of assumptions here. It’s fair to feel that way but it’s not really a response to what I said

Lore are story aren't quite the same thing Many people are of the opinion that the Tears story is good, the storytelling is bad, and the lore is disappointing/at odds with the rest of the Zelda universe Most criticism I've seen about the story isn't about the story itself, it's about the story as a story experience

@@TaliesinMyrddin I guess that makes sense. Personally I thought the storytelling was great. And I can see how some people are upset about it connecting to the other Zelda games, but personally (don’t hate me, everyone) I think it’s ok if the lore doesn’t match up if that means that the game creators aren’t limited in their story telling

@@Dani-ix5bu I'm not gonna attack anyone who accepts others view things differently, I just share my own, you're good For me it's less that the lore doesn't match and more than that it feels more than ever like they don't really care about it matching up - which they've basically said they focus on the game over the story, and fair enough, but for most of my life Zelda's been able to fit pretty neatly into an overall timeline and honestly it was one of the things I loved most, and in Tears and BotW it feels more like a reboot than an entry to figure out where it fits, is all

This all hinges on the false concept that the zonai are pre skyward sword. Which is simply wrong. The past of the wild era takes place some unknown time ahead in the child timeline and the zonai refound hyrule. And if ganon was under the castle this whole time that doesn't work cause we see a different ganon in ocarina of time he can't be reborn if he's comatose under the castle. If you are correct this is bad story telling that ruins it's own lore. We need a game about the calamity that ended hyrule and collapsed the 3 timelines in on them self's and the child timeline ganon finally dieing so ganondorf the second can be born.
