Hey Austin, one more tip that i've recently experienced! Was on a shoot for client's talk and he wanted the background to be in kinda focus, so I drop aperture to 5,6-8.... and Don't drop it more than 5,6! Because you would be able to see lines running from the promter. It took me a while to realize what was wrong with the image. Cheers!

What tele-prompting software do you use? Some apps require converting to plain text (requiring an extra step, extra time) vs a .pdf. I assume whatever app you are using requires creating a new .pdf and air-drop for each change in script.

@@tedcoats4148 I have been using an app just called Teleprompter, which is a blue icon with some white lines on it. You are right. When I import the PDF, it converts to a plain text file.. Which is kind of annoying. So when I am writing my scripts, I put elipses and line breaks via dots so that when it converts to a plain text file, it maintains some sense of formatting

Hey Austin - I’ve been using a teleprompter as an alternative to an eye direct to get interviews down the lens. I’ll have a video call between the iPad on the teleprompter and a phone on a stand pointing at me. Mute the audio on both. Really loving it as I found eye directs very clunky to set up and transport. And this also gives more flexibility on where I place myself as an interviewer as I don’t have to sit right next to the camera. The only downside is it does rely on good/consistent signal or wifi wherever you are, so not grate for very remote locations, but works brilliant for most other things. And a waaaay cheaper alternative to eye directs too

Woahh! I love this idea, Theo. I emailed the folks at EyeDirect a little while back about testing out their gear for a video and they weren't interested. I've always been interested in trying it out, so I may have to give your method a try. Thanks for the recommendation!

@@austinmeyerfilms of course it’s been used for that purpose to do remote interviews for years, but I just thought one day it was worth trying in the same room, and it worked 😂

Here's a tip for controlling the text scrolling speed, and going back in case of mistakes: connect a Bluetooth gamepad to your iPhone. That way I'm able to change font size and every other setting in the teleprompter app without touching the phone. I always carry one with my teleprompter, and it connects instantly on power up.✌️
