Lachit Borphukan, the fearless Ahom general whose legacy resonates within the annals of the Ahom kingdom and Assam's captivating past. In this video, we go through the dramatic chronicle of the Battle of Saraighat, a monumental clash that pitted Lachit's strategic brilliance against the mighty Mughal Empire, which Aurangzeb Alamgir was then leading.
The Battle of Saraighat changed the tide of Islamic invasions in Northeast India and protected the Hindu/Sanatan culture of Assam. Lachit Borphukan along with many other warriors of medieval India like Maharana Pratap, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, were the true heroes of Hindutva, long before the word was defined by Veer Savarakar..

I'm a Maharashtrian and grew up with the stories of the Brave Marathas. But because I've known so less about Other parts of the country it is so amazing to grow up and learn on my own that brave men and women have always protected this nation in so many ways. A lot of respect for the Ahom Dynasty. 💛

Surujdeep Phukan more precisely Charaideo was the first capital established by Sukapha in 1252 A.D. Garhgaon was the capital from 1540-1698 A.D. Next capital was Rongpur(Sibsagar) 1698-1794 A.D and Final capital Jorhat from 1794-1826 A.D.

Vaskoravo yes u r right. And i know that.. that's why i said ahom's 1st capital was in Sibsagar,i mean in sibsagar district ,because Sukapha,rangpur,gargoan,jorhat all were in Sibsagar District at that time. But now jorhat is a different district. And other 3 are still in sibsagar district. I'm also from Simaluguri in sibsagar, and gargoan and sukapha are not far from my home. I think u r from assam too.....
@Vaskoravo
@Vaskoravo 6 жыл бұрын
Surujdeep Phukan Yup True that....Jorhat was part of Sibsagar district till 1983 A.D before being carved out as separate district. Actually few months back I was researching on the Ahom Kingdom and also visiting across Sibsagar and Dibrugarh in search of ruins of their old capitals and stories. Hence, wanted to be more precise with dates and places. Yes, Charaideo, Garhgaon, Joysagar, Sukapha et al fall in Sibsagar district.

@saheb roy Lachit Borphukan was not Hindu, he was a Tai-Ahom. We had our own religion. Its called ancestor worship or Furalung/Taoism. Later our kings adopted Hinduism to dissolve with the local people in Assam. We r the only people who gave up our own language, religion, cultural dress, food habits,etc to mix up with the local people.

diwanshu gupta Assamese aren't hindus altogether. Ahom people have their own religious belief, besides the hindu tag on them. That's why in every twelve years interval, um pha is celebrated where cow, pig etc are slaughtered and consumed after the ceremony. Assamese people other than Ahom and hill tribes were hindus at that time. Everyone was patriot towards their motherland Ahom kingdom ( muong dun shun kham) no matter what their religion was, be it hindu, muslim, animist, or whatsoever.

Prashanta Bharadwaj Assamese are Indians since the British, before them no Indian had been able to conquer this land. And moreover, Majority doesn't mean one and only. This land is the domain of many castes and religions and for ages we have coexisted and should continue to do so. Ahom didn't fought with Muslims but with invading Indians( both hindu and muslim). Where Ram Singha, a hindu Rajput didn't care to slay 10,000+ assamese(hindu as well), at the same time likes of Ismail Siddique didn't cared for their lives while defending the Ahom kingdom.

crazy films Not possible in the current scenario. Thanks to the divide and rule policy of Indian govt, Unity is a luxury for Assam to bear. If we recall the history, united Assam was much much more stronger than any other countries at that time. Indian govt don't want us to be that powerful again so they are removing assamese history from being taught to us. So much for an independent nation(?!).

Excellent Video !!! Very Informative.. there is NO doubt that the brutal & fanatic Islamic Mughal rule in India faced stiff resistance at different periods from the great RAJPUT warriors, fierce AHOM warriors from Assam & from Punjab the brave SIKH warriors...India's strength lies in Unity in Diversity. Rightly did the great Hindi Poet Bhushana, who forsook the royal favours of the Mughal court to come over to Shivaji to record his glories, he sang :-“काशी की कला जाती, मथुरा की मसजीद बनती, अगर शिवाजी ना होते तो सबकी सुन्नत होती.” meaning : (Had not there been Shivaji, Kashi would have lost its culture,Mathura would have been turned into a mosque and all would have been circumcised.) If not for Shivaji and the Marathas, there would have existed a continuous Islamic belt from Morocco to Indonesia. What addition of 1 billion more adherents to Islam would have done to the world power balance or what would have happened to Indian legacy like yoga, ayurveda, music, art and philosophy, is not difficult to guess…. It is worthwhile examining the 'what if' of Indias history, Aurengzeb, Akbars great great grandson, had embarked on the 'Islamisation' of India. The Marathas, inspired by Shivaji, fought Aurengzeb and saved India from following the fate of Persia. The proof of Maratha victory lies in the fact that Aurengzeb lies buried, not in Lahore /Delhi or Agra , but near Aurangabad in good old Maharashtra... Indian history before Shivaji's advent reads like a chronicle of military disasters. Shivaji changed all that. He used Guerilla Tactics very effectively. Shivaji, as a great warrior & visionary laid a strong and solid foundation that after his death in 1680, there was a series of battles fought between Marathas and Mughals from 1681 to 1707 known as 'War of 27 years' and ended with the death of Aurangzeb in 1707. The Marathas eventually emerged victorious and consolidated their lost territories. This was further expanded by the Peshwas. The Maratha empire reached its peak in summer of 1758 with the conquest of Attock, which is banks of Indus river in Pakistan today. Its eastern frontier was today’s Orissa, being ruled by Raghuji Bhosale of Nagpur. Maratha armies had also reached upto Murshidabad, but then retreated and settled for tribute from Bengal and control of Orissa. To the south, in 1758, territories upto the fort of Gurramkonda in Kadappah district were held. Also, Tanjore (Thanjavur) was under Marathas, but that was a different line. In 1761, the PANIPAT war was lost to the Afghans but Marathas RECOVERED quickly like phoenix bird within 10 years and brought the whole of North Indian again under their control during the 1770's under leadership of Madhavrao Peshwa.. Eventually, the Marathas grew stronger and fought the British in three Anglo-Maratha Wars (1775-82, 1803-05, 1817-18), In the First Anglo-Maratha War (1775-1782) the Marathas emerged Victorious. A Vijay Stambh (Victory Pillar) erected to commemorate Maratha victory over British is located at Vadgaon/Wadgaon Maval, close to the city of Pune. The 2nd and 3rd were subsequently lost and British established themselves which was followed by the Uprising of 1857 . (By the way, just for your G.K, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is also considered as the 'Father of the Indian Navy'.) Hearty Salute to the sacrifice made by our Great Sikhs, Rajputs, Marathas and Ahom warriors for standing up to brutality and defending Mother India ! Jai HIND !!! VANDE MATARAAM !! VANDE MATARAAM !! VANDE MATARAAM !! VANDE MATARAAM !! VANDE MATARAAM !!

@@shambhusinghparmar9265 Let me explain brother. Lachit Borphukan was not a Hindu, he belonged to the Furalung Religion of the Tai Ahoms and was a Sutia by caste. Peoples who want to divide hindus and muslims and spread hatred among them say that Lachit Borphukan was a hindu warrior, and battle of Saraighat was a hindu vs muslim war. But we know that it was not a hindu vs muslim but Assamese vs Mughal war. In the Assamese side there were Sutia kachari ahom jayantia and many more castes and also Hindu Muslim and Furalung religion followers. Lachit Borphukan's most faithful commander Bagh Hazarika aka Ismial Siddique was a muslim. Assamese warriors didn't fight as an ahom, kachari, sutia, dimasa or hindu, muslim etc. They fought a Assamese, for their motherland. And before being a hindu or muslim or a sutia, ahom, kachari, kalita etc we are Assamese. I hope you got the point. Peace out...

@international beggar imran maybe🤷🏼‍♂️. But according to some records Lachit was the son of Mumai Tamuli Borboruah who was a Chutia by caste. Lachit was born from his second wife who was also Chutia. But none of the facts are accurate and there are many disputes about it. Being a Tai Ahom myself I believe that he was a Chutia. Let's not discuss these. It would create arguments only. Let the researchers deal with it.
