Do you realize how many thousands of aspiring musicians have played in thousands of garages all over the world?! And every one of them tried their hand at writing a song. So you really think it’s all about hard work and practice? Really?! Why not celebrate and appreciate true genius? And Lennon McCartney were among the rare geniuses of music. They are the ones who create the best of the music we listen to. All the rest are forgettable.

@@scottamichie No they didn’t play like Mickey, he was pitched to by his grandfather starting at 5 years old everyday, right handed, when his dad came home at 4pm he pitched to him left handed, everyday. No there’s playing baseball and then there’s practicing baseball. See the difference. I also have been in the music industry all my life since my garage band the Nighthawks in 1965, and I do agree with you that some people even though they work hard, still can’t reach the level of the Beatles, because it’s a gift from God and some just need to do something else.

All bands during that period were under the same pressures. Nothing can really explain how the Beatles excelled at it more than any band in history. Timing, genius, and circumstance all weighed heavily in their success, an event unlikely to be duplicated in history.

The Beatles took any little "ditty" and persisted it into a studio recordable song. Their lyrics and voices made sure. "It started out as" was exactly what they often said. "Norwegian Wood" was perhaps the most spontaneous.

Maria Hopkinova was born in U.S.S.R. in Siberia. After her arrival to England, she slightly changed and shortened her name, to Mary Hopkin ! Back then Paul McCartney was the biggest lover of the Russian girls !!! Paul wrote first song for Mary named " Hello " , but it went very terribly wrong ! Mary sounded like a cat 😺, strapped on the stretcher ! As Paul described, in his last attempt, to write the last song "Goodbye" , for her, wishing the departure from England, to, where she came from !!! Near, love story ended prematurely !!! 👍🇺🇸* Jerry.🗽

I am an up-and-coming songwriter and this is exactly what it's all about in songwriting. I release a single once a month, which I just released one on May 31st called "Sound Of My Dreams." The next one is coming this month, and I'm just about going to continue writing another new single for a release date in the future 🎶. I'm close to finishing my 100th song at this point, and without any band members like the Beatles had. So all of that writing, instrumention, recording, production is decided and made by one person. The best part? I enjoy it!

I don’t know…by 63’ they were doing what they do for 5/6 years steady. Even if you were a bad cook, 5 years later you could make tomato soup! These two lads honed a strong interest into influencing the world like never before… and never will anything like them will be duplicated…!

They did and I saw it happen, but the entire society was changing for several reasons the Beatles just came along and sang about it, like many others, like Bob Dylan, etc. the Vietnam war was one crazy reason and mind expanding drugs was the main catalyst. It was a social revolution and they were just one big part of it.

@@ronniebishop2496 Beatlemania was in full swing before Lennon ever even puffed his first joint… Their early music, which is what catapulted them into the stratosphere, we far from political. 8 days a week. She loves you. I want to hold your hand… They had a definite theme in the beginning.

Back in the '40s or '50s a songwriter said something interesting. I then heard Bono say it. He said a great songwriter needs three chords and the truth. I always kept this quote in my back pocket and I met Elvis Costello at a record signing 25 years ago. I said to him, Bono always said three chords and the truth, but I think you've done pretty good with six or seven chords and a pack of lies. If you know Elvis Costello you know what I was getting at. He looked at me and laughed and said well put mate! One of the best moments of my life. But I think you had to be there.

Just the songwriting would have been legendary. Just the harmonising would have been legendary. Just the brilliant guitar and drum playing would have been legendary. When you put together this perfect storm you get The Beatles. These guys themselves had no idea when the group first started just how good they were. Interestingly, the screaming teenagers, who screamed like that almost from the beginning, realised in their own way what they were looking at. In their adulation, somehow they knew that this was a very very special group. The screaming teenagers are usually derided. I think they are they key.

The Beatles, I think Ringo or Paul said we were just a rock group that happened to be really good, and we all came together and that’s it, nothing magical or anything else. And I say that’s all. Unlike The Beach Boys who actually only had one great artist, Brian Wilson, they had 4.

He was not born songwriter ...he learned the skill and moved along since With the Beatles...his most productive year with The Beatles was 1969. and that could be one of the reasons The Beatles started to desintegrate.. .best material on Abbey Road comes from Harrisob

Because they used/knew every chord there is. That is what really opened up all the songwriting "chance" they could imagine. They were my life in my youth. They're really why I play guitar (and other instruments) and teach guitar and a class called "the history of rock n roll" at a university here in Washington yet?? I really don't know ONE Beatles song. I can play almost EVERY classic rock song ever produced yet.....

No such thing in those days! Many people comment about a band that revolutionized pop music and literally astounded (and took over) the world! If you were not alive back then, you have absolutely 'no clue'! As far as Dylan is concerned; he may have influenced them as did Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and the Isley Brothers, but he's just a footnote. He really was an insignificant part of the music scene. He had a few hit songs. In fact, it was The Beatles who 'electrified' him! He was just a folk singer/songwriter. Dylan to his credit became a big source for other bands such as Manfred Mann, and The Hollies who took some of his songs and recorded them to fill up their albums and even turned some of his material into hit singles, to his credit! But Dylan never came close to being anywhere in the same league as The Beatles.

Did not LET him write?! Wrong. George didn’t write rock ‘n roll and so his early songs didn’t fit the Beatles early on at its beginnings-rooted in rock ‘n roll. Once they ventured into broader music ‘65-66 the songs George began to write fit into their style and direction as a band. The opening track of revolver, Taxman, was George’s song.

@James Brice Everyone should keep in mind that The Monkees were a 'made for TV band'. The musicians were primarily Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart; writers of "Last Train to Clarksville' and others. Neil Diamond wrote "I'm A Believer" and other Monkees hits. Mickey Dolenz was a child actor who played the main character on a 1950's TV show, "Circus Boy". Davy Jones was a Broadway actor who played the lead in the play, "Oliver", an excerpt of which was performed on The Beatles first Ed Sullivan Show appearance, right after the commercial that followed The Beatles opening songs! Were it not for the TV show there would have been no Monkees! Each member was cast for the part they played. They were total strangers with nothing in common.

But just type in your youtube search bar for ("john lennon stolen songs") and you will find enough content to keep you busy. John Lennon thought he broke through the matrix as many famous artist do. It's not easy to handle. His ego got the best of him.

The Beatles songs were so good because they were most likely not written by The Beatles!! 1. Lennon & McCartney can be heard many times stating that neither could read nor write music and had no formal music training! 2. Their lyrics were also well beyond the life experiences of lads in their early 20’s. 3. George Martin stated in interviews that when he first saw and heard them he thought they were “rubbish”! 4. Between 1963 and 1966 they released seven albums with 77 “original” songs. Where did they find the time to write lyrics, music, rehearse and record all this music in the midst of a heavy live touring schedule and the filming of two major motion pictures?! 5. A Mersey Beat magazine article from 1962 stated, “...the Beatles will fly to London. They will be recording numbers that have been specifically written for the group which they have received from their recording manager, George Martin.” If they were such prolific songwriters why did they need songs “specifically” written for them??

That's why they are the greatest band in history and had the most impact on music as a whole. The simplicity of their lyrics is telling of their genius. You're clearly not a fan. 🤷🏽♂️

@@lennonslemons4934Actually, I am quite a huge fan of the songs the Beatles sang, even if they didn't write them. As for their lyrics, they are far from simplistic. Are you really suggesting that songs such as Norwegian Wood, Eleanor Rigby, In My Life and Nowhere Man are lyrically simplistic?! Not just lyrics, but also the musical song structure of these songs do not convey the knowledge of four men in their early 20's who had no formal music training and couldn't read or write music. Maybe it's just a coincidence, or the work of "genius" that they knew to write Norwegian Wood in a 12/8 time signature utilizing the mixolydian modal structure...with no formal music knowledge?! LMAO!!
