Also what I think was missed on those last two plays. If you look at Karlaftis right? So GK instead of crashing down and in, he basically goes straight up field, widening out the tackles on those plays. So you have the guard engaged, and then you have the tackle engaged so it opens up what should be a throwing window. However, he sends the blitz right down the lane, which ultimately takes away the throwing lane, which ends in a deflected pass or a incomplete pass. Beautiful how he designed those plays ultimately taking the tackles out of the play.

@@timw8646 eh you hear about what Spags was trying to do they're a pretty unconventional player wise. Pretty much except for the linemen, they can and do play each other positions which allows them to hide their defense and blitzes a lot better than other teams whilst still playing their secondary positions perfectly well. If Spags didn't have a huge say on the defensive side of recruitment, he is making the absolute best out of what he's given. That really says a lot

Leo knows his stuff. With Bolton and Tranquill, it seems we have 4 to five second level (which these three quickly fill the line level by moving in - as if they read the play!) defenders. They met the 49'ers at their strength. I do not know how opposing coaches keep their sanity, knowing Mahomes and Company will more often than not match a score when they come on. This game was SO MUCH like the whole season, as Mahomes said. Experience and player-coaches, like we have, was not going to let the season go without taking advantage of SO MANY FAMILIAR situations from earlier in the year. EVERYONE outperformed their very own SCREWUPS in this one GAME. I'm blown away.

In my opinion, from the game last night, the KC defense is certainly aware that if SF does the run game, they will just need to contain CMC, or Mitchell or Mason, from spreading to the left or right side, because there's no way they will put WR and HB together in the same route, and those RBs can never run deep as the KC learned from the first CMC's touchdown
@stval

People are already blaming Shanahan for play calling and not running enough but when you look at the defensive fronts the faced (8 or even 9 man boxes) and put the rushing stats in context (CMC avg. less than 3 ypc outside of the 3 longest runs), its really not egregious.

Yea really looks like that #74 just never really practised this look vs double A gap pressure. Vs this look there is no need to pull the C with the jet action. Kyle Shanahan fired Wilks. That was a crazy move and the reason why the 49'ers will take a little step back next season. It will take a while to adopt and adapt to a new defensive scheme, unless Shanahan takes over the play calling duties on defense and hands the offensive calling duties to an OC (which will never happen under control freak Shanahan), then it will be familiar but different. Wilks did the 49'ers justice all season, and his reward was getting fired. A few players will be on the move as well. What a shame as talented of a head coach as Shanahan is, he needs a little more development but his current personality won't allow it. He doesn't realize that the losses are part of it all, you lose treat people with respect and build your NFL coaching capital, at some point you will need it, just ask Andy. He didn't make it to the big scene for15+ years, maybe more. It took him coming to Kansas City, using his Capital to assemble a team, and win, and win some more. If Andy calls, anyone they come running if they have a chance.

I wonder if you played O-line or D-line at some point because I really appreciate you breaking down O-line or D-line plays. This was excellent to see why when people yap all the time why didn't they run the ball consistently, this is why. I am now realizing most people on TV yap their flap without any knowledge

sketched each play down for offense (9ers) and defense (chiefs) on a notebook. Chiefs defensive play calling was amazing, sending pressure all over and forcing the 9ers o line to communicate, which resulted in a lot of mistakes. Also some missed hot routes by Purdy looks like he stares down one route and doesn’t identify pressure pre snap

Chiefs took away the Ravens and 9ers running game ...that was their PRIMARY goal. Next, to make Lamar and Purdy beat them with pocket passing, so that the Chiefs could rely on their Secondary stopping the passing games. It worked.

You know, something that does not get talked about very much is the block extra point. If that extra point had not been blocked, then the San Francisco 49ers could have easily won that game by one point. It would have forced Kansas City to make a touchdown and not just a field goal to tie it and send it into overtime. Chiefs linebacker Leo Chenal blocked Jake Moody's kick on the ensuing extra-point attempt, limiting the 49ers to a 16-13 lead and keeping the margin within a field goal. The block was the second big play of the game for Chenal, who also forced a Christian McCaffrey fumble on the game's opening drive.1 day ago

They have mahomes but this is proof defenses wins championships. Keep in mind this KC defense took down every powerhouse in the AFC. Going against quarterbacks like Lamar and Allen with an offense that didn’t run perfect is insane.
How the Chiefs Embarrassed Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers.
