Us cleveland fans already consider this season a success. Yeah playoffs are the goal right now, but we were predicted 5th in a division that was supposed to be a feeding ground for the White Sox. Video forgets to mention the HOF manager Francona. I don’t think this season is possible without him. Been a really fun year, and the fact that it’s a rebuilding year and almost all these guys are locked up until 2025, we’re in for some more fun years in cleveland. The idea we’ve been a dumpster team for forever has never been true. Despite the cheap owners this team finds a way to win. Our 2016 run looked a lot like this one and it came out of nowhere.

I picked Cleveland to win the division before the season. They have an insane amount of young talent, a good pitching staff and a superstar in Jose Ramirez. I never understood why they were so slept on with as much talent as they have. It's not like they're the O's with the lowest payroll and a much less talented roster. Cleveland develops players as well as anybody and they're always competitive.

Awesome video and breakdown of what's made them so good this season. Been a fan of the Indians/Guardians my whole life -- and as crushing as the 2016 World Series was, I still knew they'd be in good hands with the front office that they have. Since you've posted this video, they've also been getting some nice contributions from Will Brennan. The amount of good prospects they have with the young guys they have producing now is insane. I don't expect them to win the World Series by any stretch of the imagination -- but as you mentioned, if they can find a big bat to plug into the lineup in the offseason, 2023 may finally be their year.

You miss the key component of this team. Chris Antonetti is the mastermind behind this organization. He operates with this philosophy. MLB is not fair. Certain teams are given advantages at the expense of other teams. If Cleveland wants to create a dynasty (not just compete) they have to be smarter than everyone else. This organization harkens back to the dominant teams of the late nineties. The vast majority of trades since then have worked out well for Cleveland. They want trades to work out for their trading partners too -- it facilitates and expands future trade possibilities. Cleveland does not do rebuilds, ever. It has taken nearly 3 decades to build an organization that is able to field a top ten team every year. They are not done. This year is significant the last 2 phases of the dynasty have come into place. A top 5 player left 100 million dollars on the table to play in Cleveland. That is huge! The other piece is to have high quality emerging talent show up every year. Both have happened this year! They will be a top 5 team every year with a bottom 5 payroll. They will be a sought after trading partner. They single handedly will drive down player salaries. They will have their pick of the top talent in baseball and every team and player in the league will willingly help them to get there. It sounds unreal. Remember you heard it here first.

Diehard Guardians fan here. Back in 2019 when this roster was starting to be torn down, we saw a path with the prospect pool we had to be competing again in 3-4 seasons. However, we thought it was contingent on keeping Lindor and Ramirez. When the Lindor trade happened, a lot of people gave up hope. Although what most didn't see was the roster around him blooming more than it did when it was Lindor and Ramirez were the young guns with a ton of veterans. Lindor was shipped for a godsend in Gimenez, and now Ramirez is the veteran surrounding by a lot of young talent. If we got one extra closer and a catcher at the deadline, I'd say we would've made a run at the World Series. I think this year we're a divisional exit (although with the AL you never know), but for the next few years, I think we'll be scarier than the 2016 and 2017 teams were.

Just now watching this video so sorry for the late comment. It's going to be really tough to match those 16-17 teams simply because this current roster can't hit the ball out of the yard. You need that in the playoffs. Unless someone develops quickly or they bring someone in, I don't really see them making a deep run. We are seeing it in this current stretch where they are consistently outhitting teams, the pitching is only giving up 2-4 runs a game, and they lose. This is such a young team that plays hard and are super fun to watch but the lack of extra base hits is very concerning. I don't really like moral victories in pro sports but I think this season can be considered a win minus a full collapse. I will stand by needing a legit power bat in the lineup though

I became a Cleveland fan at the ripe old age of 8 . Jimmy Dudley was a great influence for me as he made the game so exciting. Now at the young age of 83, I continue to watch every game and and root this remarkable young team to victory. How fitting the Guardian name was chosen to guide them on their way to success.

This was only a small portion of a fantastic video, but I'd like Mets and Guardians fans to stop arguing over who won the trade. Both teams are doing well and the players involved have been fantastic for both sides. It's like the Stefon Diggs trade netting the Vikings a pick that turned out to be Justin Jefferson, a win-win for both sides. Celebrate the players, enjoy the ride.

I think that trade as a mets fan is the definition of a true purpose of a trade. Both teams gave each other an upgrade in the shortstop position. Cleveland got a pair for the position which is better for their bench and mets got one of the best in the game to fill a hole in their defense.

I honestly don’t think that we can call a winner until we see what Cleveland gets for Amed Rosario- only then will the deal truly be complete. Rosario is very clearly not the SS of the future, and they’ll trade him by the deadline next year if Rocchio and/or Arias are playing anywhere close to big league level. Cleveland will put Gimenez back at SS, and Rocchio/Arias at 2B, and if they get a good BP arm or a top 100 prospect for Rosario, I think it’ll be a win for Cleveland. Gimenez is outperforming Lindor this year (everything but HR and RBI favors Gimenez) and he’s at least as good, if not better, defensively. If cleveland ends up with just one other long term starter I think they’ll have won (this doesn’t even account for the fact that Lindor is making 8 times as much as Rosario and Gimenez combined).
@jrjbertsch

Mets got elite talent and big salaries. Cleveland got top talent, who have yet to emerge as elite, and small salaries. Carrasco is dealing with injuries. He is likely gone in 2 years. Francisco is the real deal. He will be around performing at an elite level for 5 years and maybe more.

The trade of Clevinger and Greg Allen for Quantrill, Naylor, O. Miller, Hedges, #11 Guardians prospect SS Gabriel Arias and #25 and rising pitching prospect Joey Cantillo has been huge too. The farm system in general looks amazing. Watch out for Gavin Williams and George Valera and neither of them are even the #1 prospect. That would be pitcher Daniel Espino who has been lights out, but unfortunately got injured this season.
@davidwindell
@davidwindell Жыл бұрын
I actually think Espino was a planned shutdown. You see a lot of elite young guys get these phantom arm injuries the second they show they can dominate AA. The following year the kid will start at AAA and assuming they maintain a high level they’re called up before June. This allows the arm to get extended rest immediately before the kid has his first MLB season, which typically leads to almost twice as many innings as the prospect has thrown in his life to that point (as long as they are called up before the ASG and stay healthy they’ll likely pitch 160-180 innings, whereas a “full” MiLB season is around 80-120.) I truly believe Espino is one of these cases where the timing worked out and they saw enough dominance at AA (the hardest level to pitch at) that they knew he’d debut next year and were like “nope, no need to risk any injuries”.
@OHgreensguy
@OHgreensguy Жыл бұрын
@@davidwindell This is my thinking too. It's been complete silence on Espino all year. I haven't been able to find a single update. I'm not saying he is DeGrom but his pitch mix and velocities are all very similar to DeGrom. I hope he stays healthy as Cleveland clearly knows how to develop pitching. With 5 Cy Young winners in the last 15 years, he may be able to become the best of them all

Been a fan of them for my life. Saw the absolute DOMINANCE of Bartolo Colon in 2001, the weird decision to get rid of everyone in 2002-2003, to the absolute snooze fest pitching wise from 04-13, to the rise of the pitching prospects and seeing how dominant our defense has become. Seeing us blow a 3-1 lead to the Cubs, to a 2-0 to the Yankees, to the absolute POWER HOUSE pitching in 2017-19. Bieber winning the Triple Crown, all of it. From the bottom of my heart, if no other team in Cleveland wins anything ever again at the cost of the Guardians winning a WS in my life, I will die a happy fan. As cheap as the owners can be, I commend them for actually targetting some insane batting potential (Naylor, Gimenez, Rosario, etc.) and some stellar defense. I love all the extensions to players that deserve it and the potential we have to go deep in the playoffs. Maybe not this year but next year. This team despite being so young has peaked when we need them to and I see the peak growing. God speed to Jolly Olive for acknowledging the insanely quick rise of the Guardians.
