Easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials do it yourself (DIY) to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed wacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.

Thank you so much....the friction wheel on my Ariens Snowblower shredded (the rubber around the wheel) and in the manual, there was nothing about how to fix it, let alone show you where the friction wheel was located. Now that i know, I can at least order the part and try to fix it. Will definately subscribe to your site....it`s great.

Always informative and very helpful. My blower moves, but I'm wondering if I should replace the disk because I have it apart to clean and grease. There are small tabs on the side of the disk that are flush with the contact area (rubber). Should the contact surface be higher than the tab? Higher than tabs= less wear? Advise from anybody would be helpful. Thanks.

Thanks so much for all the videos Donnyboy. With your help I have been able to get a 10 hp 32inch discarded snowblower running. After replacing points and cleaning the carb it now runs fairly well. All I need now is to find an 8 inch 3/4 " bore drive pulley for the auger. It seems to be hard to find one, any ideas? I suspect you are a fellow Canadian. Where are you located?

It is for a Canadianna which is the same one I have on another snow blower (a Craftsman) I have. The precious owner used an aluminum pulley used for furnace blowers but it is too soft and the key chewed out the hub. My mistake on the above post, I should have typed 7/8" bore. If you have one that would be great. I am at the other end of the province in Kenora.

I wrote to Ariens to ask them if it would do any harm to move the settings of the friction disc so that I would have a third reverse ( I know I would then have only 5 forward ) but the reverse is so slow and I never use that 6 th. They answered that they would not do that because the sno-thro was not made to work that way. What do YOU think please. Thanks for sharing. You are so kind. I have a Ariens pro 28 2017.

Hello Donboy - I have a toro 824 snowblower which just happened to stop working in the middle of a snowstorm up here in Chilliwack BC - the snow auger works, but the drive axle will barely work in any of the 3 forward positions and a little bit in either of the two reverse gears. I adjusted the tension on the drive belt with negative results I am now thinking that the friction plate is worn out - I havent checked this out yet as I just came across your video on how a friction plate works. The friction plate that you show in your video, would it happen to be associated to a toro 824 - It appears that it is a fairly easy fix. Great video BTW - thanks for sharing your expertise. Burt

Hey man thank you so much for the uploads. Very informative. I've got allot of help from your vids. I have a craftsman 2.0 10" saw , and I need crank seals and bearings for it. Would a duramark work to swap bearings and seals? The duramark or homelite saw has a bad wrist pin. So it won't idle. The craftsman saw runs but there is not enough crank pressure to get the oiler working. Please help.

I have a craftsman blower with a similar setup. Drive wasn’t engaging. When I opened it, the hex shaft pinion gear was ground down, so I replaced that and adjusted the drive engagement handle (it was too tight, partially engaged). Now the machine goes slowly in reverse, no forward. I cleaned up the friction disk, wondering if that rubber needs to be replaced. Do you have any more thoughts on what it could be, prefer not blindly replacing parts.

Great video, I have this same transmission on my snowblower, and the gear (top left) that is on the shaft the wheels are connected to, does not move the shaft it is mounted to, when the drive handle is engaged. I don't see any collar or anything that would hold the gear to the shaft.

On my Yardworks(MTD) 30" snowblower the nut under the friction wheel is always coming loose making the friction wheel wobble and come out of adjustment.I often find the large Jam L-nut at the bottom of the belly pan .Should I use treadlocker paste to make sure its not coming off? The friction wheel and its support bracket should remain tight at all time but this nut is given me a hard time because its vibrating loose, making the snowblower useless.

Hello again donyboy. I have the exact same tires/wheels on my White snowblower and I have a constant problem keeping the tires inflated. Anything you know of to use around the bead that would help ? Wondering if you have the same problem with them too ? Mine was built around '93 so yes they are old but the blower has had very little use over the years. Sitting stationary for long periods maybe contributes ? Its a pain when you think you're ready to go for the winter and then ... flat. Thanks !
