Should have stated that when they wanted Cricket to wrestle, the reason he looked cleaned up is because he had a job and was drug free. The neck wound cost him his job and got him back on drugs, just to emphasize how toxic the gang is to his life. Like every other time we see him, it looks like he’s getting it back together, then the gang shows him up and throws him down even further.

Cricket always has a chance in life and then the gang gets involved.

It’s interesting that He could’ve went back to his father at any time. Got a job, house and everything he wanted. But my theory is that the reason he became a priest is to get away from his dad. His dad most likely took control of his life and since he was a cripple and abused by Dee he had little choice in anything. Then he met Dee again and everything he worked for got destroyed. He stayed because at first it was to stay close to Dee. Then Cricket became a suck boy, and moved on. He so used to being treated like shit that it actually makes him feel free. Say what you want about how horrible the gang are and will live in perpetual misery forever. Crickets last laugh is that he’s free, and Happy.

They literally slowly destroyed him, starting on the inside, and working their way to the outside.

The fact that Mac was so dedicated to the comedy of this show that he actually got fat, then beefed up just for a joke is totally eclipsed by Cricket here. For this guy to actually have a kidney removed and his face burned off just for a TV show is fucking magnificent. The damage to his eye alone is award worthy. I mean, early in the show he was actually pretty normal, but then he got fucked up over the years, and they just added his new scars to the plot. Brilliant method acting. Also, Dee is a bird.

I love how David Hornsby played the character for a full decade, always putting his all in. Things like this are why this show is amazing, filling with nostalgia and references to classic characters and stories.

Its funny/nice how they really kept constant with him, his scars and teeth, even the off handed comment about his kidney being stolen by a China man
