Can I also just add a tiny bit of stuff I noticed pretty quickly: - “Satisfied” is all about the theme of longing and regret, allowing you to naturally be drawn into that mood through previous knowledge of the song. - This could be exaggerated by Anthony Ramos’ part of “Alexander Hamilton” being sung over it before #ThatKeyChangeTho, as the feeling of being unsatisfied is underrun with feelings about Laurens and Phillip... Side note - the timing of Aaron Burr’s fist clenching in “always” of the C minor satisfied bit I’d so cool ❤️

You know, I really liked how the trailer used the show’s pre-show announcements (Jonathan Groff’s George III saying “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the show” and later “this is Hamilton”). To me, these sound like the recordings that come on before you get on a Disney ride (please keep all hands and feet inside the ride, etc etc). I don’t know about everyone else, but hearing that recording gets me hyped as hell to get on the ride. Hearing those Groff soundbites makes me feel like I’m in for a great and wild ride; it being from Disney doesn’t hurt either.

This is a great rundown. I was thinking the same about the ostinato being used and how "Trailer-like" it sounded. I did my thesis on contemporary film scores and their use of repetitive motifs, so this subject was very fascinating for me.

Also something I noticed. If you sing along to Satisfied (after the Disney Castle scene) it goes like this "ALRIGHT ALRIGHT!! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!! NOW! EVERYONE! GIVE IT UP! FOR-" and then you get cut by Alexander Hamilton (the song) which goes "The Ten Dollar, Founder Father without a father..". Put it all together and you have "Alright alright! That's what I'm talking about! Now! Everyone! Give it up! For the Ten Dollar, Founder Father without a father..". Guys. Dhxjdhxjf GUYS!! ANOTHER REASON THEY USED SATISFIED IS BECAUSE IN THE BEGINNING OF IT, LAURENS IS INTRODUCING(kinda) ANGELICA SCHUYLER FOR HER TO DO HER SPEECH!!! GUYS! I wonder if the note, going up one way and coming down another, is meant as a reflection of Alexander Hamilton's journey in the musical? The scale has a shadow side and so does Alexander when he cheats on Eliza.

The fact that they used Satisfied is also worth noting since 1) The movie was coming out in a time where Broadway was closed so theater nerds were itching for some entertainment. 2) It was telling the fans "we hope our show will live up to your expectations." And that's ignoring all of the significance of the song in the actual musical (the breathtaking rewind sequence, this song breaking records for one of the fastest songs in musical theater, the fact that this song sets up Hamilton's weakness of him never being "satisfied").

I seriously love the fact that within a day, we have a nearly twelve minute video with a full scale analysis of a minute-long trailer. I’m glad to see the Hamilton fandom back together! I mean, unless you wrote fanfiction or obsessed over the fandom like me the entire five years. My biggest life regret is never being able to see Hamilton live with the OBC! 😭

As a lover for both dramatic/film analysis and music analysis, this made me very... satisfied. You're by far my favourite KZfaq creator! Not only does analysing something I'm very familiar with make it more easier to understand all the concepts you talk about (I did music in high school but my knowledge is still very faint), but it makes it all the more mind-blowing, and you make sense of some of the things I've picked up on yet don't know how to expand on. I could watch a decade worth of videos on Hamilton analysis, it's so fascinating and makes me so happy.
