@@thirstyjogger I wouldn't go as far as to say that cricket is DYING. But man, We really need to invest in other sports too. Can't tell ya how much it hurts to see the state of indian football. I watch football more than cricket these days. Recent ISL edition was lit. Had a great time watchin' it.

It's not that the foreign players play FOR India, it's like a combination of Indian and foreign players in every team in the IPL and the maximum foreign players limit that can play in an 11 player team is 4. Also, it makes for a better environment and a learning experience for young and uncapped players when they play with their idols not only from India but from outside too. And that's certainly made the global cricket atmosphere a lot better.

14:15- coming at your point Jaby, well it certainly feels good when the international players play for the franchises, but there are some limits, for e.g. only 4 overseas players can play but it's not compulsory to always go with 4 players. Sometimes, some teams choose only 2 overseas players for a match

India have own domestic cricket teams and tournaments in which no foreign players allowed. But ipl is not just a domestic turnament .in IPL a team only 4 foreign players allowed out of 11 players which means minimum 7 player are locals

State of Origin Rugby League in Australia follows your wish of players only being allowed to play for there home state. For the majority of the season they play for there respective clubs in the NRL but for a month or so in the middle of the season the best players in the league are picked to represent there home state of either NSW or Queensland to play in a brutal three match series showcasing some of the toghest and fastest play in all of sport. Jaby's Query - How do you feel about foreign players......My Answer: There is a limitation on the number of players that can play on the field in any given match. Out of 11 payers on the field only 4 can be of foreign origin. There may more in the reserves. What happens is younger talented Indian youngsters are able to rub shoulders with these immensely talented foreign palyers. This helps in learning for the younger Indian players and hence it is a win win situation.

By international he meant that even Indains from different cities. Listen to atleast the full argument before commenting. Like Virat plays for Bangalore even though he wasn't born there. Also I wanted to add that the IPL is a private league not hosted by the ICC. There are domestic leagues where people play for their own country. England has county cricket , India has the ranji trophy and those are official leagues organised by the ecb and bcci respectively. Messi would've never played for barcelona if he stayed in argentina, Madrid and manchester would never have gotten a chance to play with ronaldo .I think jaby is not used to american leauges that is why the idea of foreign players seems new to him.

It's true... When Hotstar operated on there own. The content was limited, it was laggy and very much irritating to operate. But since it became Disney+Hotstar it's on another level. The content alone has jumped enormously.

I don’t think so. They own HBO content and just look at the recommendations. You have to search for the content. I think in terms of app experience Netflix, followed by Amazon is best. Hotstar is great but just that recommendations are not good. They don’t feature top shows as frequently as they should.

Because of IPL new local talent were found which could eventually be beneficial for the betterment of the Indian cricket team in general! For example- Because of IPL, we now have excellent players like Bumrah, prithvi shaw, Rishabh Panth etc who now are in Indian teams!

Jaby just wanted to tell u that many international players leave other matches/leagues to be in IPLfor media visibilty and monetary compensations Edit:Each franchise is given a fixed purse value .They cannot put"ANY" amount of money to buy a player.Instead there is a proper auction within the purse value

IPL is not in it's entirety a domestic tournament, it's a franchise based domestic league. It's not governed by Boards of each State that plays cricket so it can't be compared to the logic that a player born in particular state will play for that team. I personally support the thought process that young players should be given preference over old(33-40) and overseas players but that won't be fruitful for Franchises and majority of people won't support that format.

What’s up Jaby. Long time brother. Gabe from Boring reviews/Cricket for Americans. Dude the IPL is an absolutely genius product and that video did a terrible job explaining it’s relevance. It’s basically the NFL kind of TV product but everyone competes because there’s and sad auction where every team gets the same purse to spend and gets to evenly bid on players. Nick and I did a 10 hour stream of the auction it was absolutely insane. Cricket is absolutely exploding and it’s due impart to the IPL and a T 20 format. That guy was driving me crazy saying 20/20. Anyways brother one of the IPL franchises will be in LA Nick and I have a Standing trip already planned for the inaugural game, you and Achara are both invited to join us at the game as our guest. USA by the way also does have an international cricket squad we flew down to Florida to watch them play Ireland in December which is a historic match. USA be Ireland which is a full test nation. Anyway brother always a fan keep up the great work and you know where to come to for the Cricket info. 👊

Players just play for their franchises in IPL for around 2 months, they represent the franchises, not the country or any state teams of India. After that 2 months, they either go play for their country or play for franchises in other leagues around the world. IPL is pretty much independent from the domestic cricket infrastructure of India, there are other domestic tournaments in India where only Indian players play for their states.

Okay, so for context, we did have a league for domestic-only players called the Indian Cricket League. And it failed. Lack of branding, sponsors and marketing aside, international players raise the level of cricket. It helps the sport be more competitive in the league and allows domestic players to test their game against international stalwarts. Works well for everyone!

ICL failed because BCCI banned the players who played in the league alongs with the biggies who supported it like Kapil Dev!

ICL also had foreign players, I remember Klusener was the captain of Kolkata Tigers, also there was a Pakistan team as well captained by Inzy. ICL fell through because of murky politics that was going around that time. Zee wanted the broadcasting rights of Indian cricket and they also won the bidding but it went to Nimbus Sports (owned by Anil Ambani) because of some said under the table understanding which caused Zee to rebel and create their own private T20 tournament and roped in people like Kapil Dev to endorse the league. Seeing the really good reception by the public and India's WC success in South Africa, BCCI decided to cash in (btw, a talk of a private t20 league with 8 cities and marquee players had been in discussion for quite some time but Subhash Chanda tried to steal the glory) so they started to choke ICL slowly and slowly. They started by threatening the other countries and their boards and that resulted in the foreign cricketers to pull out. Then they terminated the contracts of the Indian players and blacklist them and within a couple of years ICL died a premature death. BCCI gave the Indian players a cool off period before they could join Indian cricket and IPL

Foreign players coming in to play in IPL makes us see our heroes from all other teams come to play together and the guys in late 30s have to compete to level match the energy of young lads. We love international players as much as we love our national heroes. 🙏🏻🤗👍🏻💙

International players make the tournament highly competitive and the quality is world class plus the viewership is massive. On top of that our domestic players get to play with the best in the world, that improves them significantly

Plus cricket is different than most of the sports. I know for an outsider hearing that 5 days game sounds absurd but once you understand the game then you know that it is most thrilling format of the game. I'll list out the reason why it is most thrilling 1) The red ball(used in test cricket as opposed to white ball which is used in one day or T20 cricket) swings and seams more and batting is much more difficult in test cricket. To give you an example one day cricket if a ayer scores run a ball let's say 100 of 100 balls that is common in T20 we have seen centuries scored in 50 balls and if a batsman tries to score as fast as they do in t20 then due to more swing and seam batsman will most likely to get out hence test cricket tests the patience of a cricketer. I have seen innings where batsman has scored a hundred in 300 balls it may sound boring and slow but his determination and gritt was thrilling to watch and this was just one example. 2) you have reacted to highlights of India's recent test series win in Australia. That was not dull or absurd as you say it that was one of the most exciting series there ever was. And lastly, i love your videos man and i usually agree with your point most of the time but don't you think calling a format of the game "absurd" without even knowing what it is and how it is played is kind of judgemental. I am not at all saying no you have to say it is a beautiful sport or you have to like it but don't judge a game until you know what's going on

Foreign players playing for franchise cricket makes cricket more interesting sometimes many cricket lengeds end up in same team which is delight to watch for example in 2013 sachin tendulkar and ricky ponting played for Mumbai indians which was like dream to watch these two open together and apart from this local young talented players shares dressing room with legends which helps them to improve another example, Jasprit bumrah was young talent who played with Lasith malinga the fast bowling legend and nurtured under him now jasprit bumrah is world's best bowler

Personally I love the test (5 days) format of cricket because it brings patience and tenacity into play over a long period of time. Watching a test match is like watching boxing slowly over 5 days and almost every match has a round 12 where pushing yourself as a player becomes key to playing well.

It does sound absurd that you are playing a single game for 5 days but it's still very interesting. There was a time when game became very batting oriented but things are changing slowly atleast in test matches. Additionally, it's the most unique game out thr. I saw a video of Harsha Bogle after we won against Australia after getting all out for 36 in the first game. He compared the test game with life where every day is a new day and you can have a bad day or a good day and how you handle those gives you a reward at the end. It was brilliant.

About Achara's swaping team thing. In IPL Gautam Gambhir went from Delhi to Kolkata (originally being a Delhi born folk) and won 2 titles for the team with same enthusiasm. I know its because of the money players go to the other team and all but that never makes them act like they don't belong in that team.

Actually Jaby the foreign players are key for IPL's success as they make it even more entertaining. Especially the west Indies's Caribbean players since they are paid more money here than their national team, they play like crazy here .

IPL has majority of the players who are Indians and a few are internationals (1/3rd). In IPL, players play for the city franchise but when they play for Team India, they play for the country. It’s fun to watch international players play with the domestic players as they learn from each other. And, they love India and we love them too!

International players have made a huge impact on the domestic cricket level has skyrocketed. What the exposure to Senior International players guiding younger Indian players, there is exchange of ideas and plans and most important thing that rubbed off is the confident level in the Indian players :)

From my point of view(I am an Indian and an IPL fan) I don't really mind foreign players playing IPL because as long they play well and entertain us, thats all that really matters. Their nationality does not really bother me and its really fun to watch IPL and especially its Hindi commentary is really great (but of course you should know Hindi to understand what they are saying). Also IPL is platform for new players to gain popularity and experience of playing against some of the most popular players across the world and get into international leagues..............

Local and Indian international players get to share the same dressing room including with international starts of the game. This in turn gives the local players not just a platform but also a comparison on where they stand in terms of talent and capability..this has immenslu helped Indian cricket so much that unlike the traditional domestic cricket circuits (which are very competitive and extremely disciplined and structured) which you had to play to get noticed by selectors for the Indian international team, now a days you hope to play in IPL and perform there which can help you over pass the domestic circuits selection for which are too difficult. So Achara is bang on right.

One of the reasons that Cricket is so big in India as 'Gaurav Kapoor' a cricket commentator said is because 'we are one of the best at playing the sport' people fixate at things they do extremely well, ever since India won the 1983 world cup, when the country had barely any accomplishments on the world stage, that world cup gave us something that we were best at, and it became part of the Indian soul, children were named after the players of the 1983 world cup team, so the sport became a part of family for people and it has been a part ever since.

Fyi JABY:- every team has a fixed purse to buy players and there is a limit to how many players both local and international a team can buy which pretty much counters your doubt of buying all the best international players by a rich-ass premier league team. +1 :- TATA owns the rights now. Now it is just that playes from different countries are on same teams with Indians which is amazing in many ways. Unlike other sports IPL has a international player limit of 4player for every playing 11 which means 7 players are from India and there's budget limit so you cannot just buy best 11 player in game but build a solid team combining of rookies, experienced players and the big names

1) Only 4 international players are allowed per team in IPL. 2) Most players in a team aren't even from the state they play from. 3) It is about who you fight for, not where you were born. 4) One team also had a white cricketer as their captain (Sunrisers Hyderabad and they are a strong team but in their yesterday's match against Rajasthan Royals they lost badly). 5) Fans support teams not based on where they are from, they choose their favourite teams and then support them. btw two foreign players, Keiron Pollard and Mitchell Starc had a fight back in IPL and bats and all were thrown so that's a nice drama XD Hope that clears it up a bit

One of the major reason (in my opinion) why cricket is dying in a that ICC has put some rules which favours much more the batsmens than the bowlers, there can’t be even a bit sledging the bowler can’t even dance after taking a wicket and plus the bowlers are not as they used to be. A lot of them are not interested in test cricket they are less aggressive some thing that people like

cricket will never die in india. IPL is held during summer holidays. school/college students are their biggest audience. plus lot of working people catch up with game because it starts at 7:30pm. now jio has made it free, they catch up with the game even during work.

For people who dont know or have mistakenly thought that when they said 90% of cricket's fan base is in Indian Subcontinent, they weren't just talking about India. The Indian Subcontinent basically comprises of almost all the South Asian Countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal etc. So in the video, they were talking about the whole fan base from all these countries as a whole and not just India.

Its great that international players are a part of the ipl. There is a rule that allows only 4 international players in a team. This means most teams include younger Indian players who play first class cricket and who have the potential to play for the Indian national team. The experience these players get by playing with and against intl players in extreme pressure means they hit the ground running when playing for India. IPL has a huge hand in India’s dominance in cricket. Having said that its also great to see foreigners looking for Indian validation once in a while. Dancing to bollywood songs and trying to speak in hindi to gain popularity in India and stay relevant 😂

15:00 - For Jaby's query, India has the Ranji trophy that is played domestically with players living in that particular state overseen by the BCCI from where the players for the National team is selected.. IPL is a different franchise. It has the name of major cities and players playng for different countries/leagues. all decided by auctions. Agreeing with Jaby, IPL IS mostly about money.
