The Ordinary Serum Foundation sparked a 75,000-person waitlist before its release. Here's how the medium-coverage formula with a $7 price tag is made inside the brand's facilities in Toronto. The serum foundation is made up of three phases: a water phase, an oil phase, and a powder phase. Once everything is mixed together to form the foundation color, a sample goes to the quality team for an evaluation and color check. The team members compare the sample batch with the standard batch to ensure everything is identical. The foundation is also tested under various lighting conditions like daylight, fluorescent, and store lighting. The product is filled into bottles and sold.

I've been using this since it launched a few years ago. It's very light and still has great coverage when you use it sparingly. I feel like this is what people are looking for when they get stuff like the Glossier foundation (love them but it does nothing.) So glad this foundation is getting attention now!

@@Observette I'd say no as from how I've seen them made it's a water in oil emulsion so a majority oil composition but u can go ahead and try to see if it clogs ur pores ,it's just 7 bucks not much to lose

@@Observette I have oily skin and its my daily foundation, but I find that the high coverage version lasts longer (looks less oily for longer) than the serum foundation, its also a bit thicker in consistency. I set it with powder and a bit of setting spray and it has a nice finish in my opinion. I've many times slept with it also and it doesn't look horrible the next day, but not good either lol. It tends to cling to dry areas for me tho, so exfoliating your skin and properly moistruizing is best.

@@Observette As someone with oily skin, I hated both of their foundations so much. Disagree with OP. They oxidise badly, made me super orange within a couple of hours. The Ordinary makes bad makeup, but good skincare.

This is one of the only sheer foundations that is light enough AND not too pink for my pale ass skin! The 1NS is just perfect for me. Currently using my fourth bottle 🤞🏻

I have it. Serum based foundation. It feels like skin with good coverage. Non sticky non oily but gives a healthy shine to skin. Really woth buying. I got it as gift btw❤️

Yeah sadly the olive offerings are awful. There's alzo a really big jump between light- medium so I either look like a ghost or orange ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Seen i bought this fondation 2 years ago i haven't use any other! That is my favorite i love that the coverage it medium and its buildable, dont have any scent and i found the best shade for me! I like to use it whit my fluid primer from Ordinary!

The ordinary is basically the only good brand you can afford in poorer countries like Bulgaria. The market here is really not diverse so you've got either cheap, bad cosmetics or the super expensive stuff. I'm so greatful for these guys!

This is such a cool video. I do have to agree with some of the other comments though as when you first apply its looks amazing but within just 10 mins it's starts to go blotchy. Just my personal experience but for under £7 if this works for you then that is amazing! Does anyone have any good recommendations for a decent bb cream please? Xxxx

Ans this is why they will have in increase of costumers for giving good skin care line that actually works with affordable prices cheap to alot which means actually affordable!! To the masses ! Making them come for more cus there honest and strive to simple do just that and give excellent quality i perfer them over high end as u dont get the best for the buck in most cases

The only issue for me is that there aren’t enough light shades. I’ve got Celtic skin and the lightest colours are too dark and oxidise over time. Which is a shame as the formula is amazing

I know it’s an annoying extra step (and hopefully The Ordinary will consider those who fall onto the fairest end of the color spectrum in the future), but MAC sells a white face and body foundation that makeup artists use to lighten foundation shades for their clients. One or two drops mixed into your foundation might help it match you a bit better.
