Nick Nurse is definitely my choice for coach of the year, seems like a different player puts up 20+ points a night despite all the injuries they have dealt with. They deserve more respect from the media.

@@911___________DIVOC you forgot the biggest rival for COY, the Mav's coach, their season is a huge surprise for me and the nba. If the raptors are 2nd seed at the end of the season, there are no debate but imagine they end at 5th seed or even 4th seed the winner of the COY isn't obvious.

Other teams might pick up on this and try to do it too. Most teams actually copy a lot of things the Raptors do . Remember the "janky defense" they laughed at last year .?!! Not worried though as it takes a special kind of team to execute all this .

To be fair some people predicted back when the schedule dropped that they'd have a 12 game winning streak at this specific point of the season... granted not a 15 or 16 game winning streak. They've been playing great but let's not pretend it was against the toughest opposition.

@@badaboum2 he obviously meant that teams that normally aren't very good can "show up" and play out of their minds. Raptors for the most part has prevented that and shut teams down. Good teams lose against supposedly bad teams on any given night to a 15 in a row win stream is very impressive. Case and point when the Raptors lost against Brooklyn last night.

if raps somehow win another chip, teams will start to copy this blueprint. Not a single superstar, the raptors play team ball more than anyone else. The whole is truly greater than the sum of the parts for this team. Its why they are so hard to play against cause you never know whos going to be the leading scorer and they will change on the fly depending on what style their opponents play

What makes me love this team so much is that they rely purely on smarts and overall basketball IQ rather than individual talent, and that is including Nurse. Nick Nurse is truly the raptor's third all-star.

The Heat have been a great story this year too. I'm a Raps fan but I don't think anyone saw the heat doing this well. Toronto's schedule is going to get much tougher soon. Itll be interesting to see how we play the bucks.

Definitely not all the playoff run. But Kawhi did up to the game 3 of Bucks series. All players started consistently showing up after that Game 3 of Bucks vs Raptors. And the championship brought whole new level of confidence to the team.

Last year all people could say was "What's Nurse thinking?" He threw out lines and play's with such abandon that people thought the players would never mesh, and would always be confused about what play they were supposed to be using. It turned out that the players got used to it but it was the opposing teams that got confused. You'd think you were attacking a zone, realize it was a 2-3, then cough up the ball when it morphed into a triangle defense. The same with their offense. The ball would go to Siakam in the corner, a second defender would commit to him but the ball would be out of his hands and up to Lowry, to VanVleet and into Powell in the other corner with all your defenders going the other way. And every player who had the ball could nail a three.

The success & continuous improvement of the Raptors that have made them an elite defence team & the deepest team to date can be based from the organizational culture itself, from the players, the coach & the coaching staff, & the management. They have open communication, respect with each other, commitment, hard work, determination, & great camaraderie that no other team has. It’s like saying they’re perfectly “glued” with each other. Every decisions and/or plans are meticulously strategized. They have this “thinking outside the box” mentality that helps them try new things, especially in adverse situations wherein maximizing what you have is carefully planned & executed. Never seen such an organization working like that from top to bottom. Generally a great organization worthy to emulate.
