"Lust, Temptation & The Dramatic “Love” Story of Homer Simpson and Mindy Simmons"
Episode: The Last Temptation of Homer

Inspired by the Love of Jesus Christ
Verse of the Day (as related to the topic of this video):
"But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at the way he looks on the outside or how tall he is, because I have not chosen him. For the Lord does not look at the things man looks at. A man looks at the outside of a person, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
- 1 Samuel 16:7 (NLV)
A movie I highly recommend: The Gospel According to Matthew (starring a very animated and engaging acting performance by Bruce Marchiano, who plays Jesus). This is a word-for-word adaptation that has a unique take on the body language and charisma of Jesus, and also makes it easier to understand and quicker to read the story. I am hopeful that this movie gives you peace, love, hope, security, comfort, and answers, as it did me, and continues to do to this day. God bless you.

no, lust is no different than when you get hungry for ice cream or candy, there is 100% NO nutritional value to those, but you still eat them. Lust is just a mating snack. It's NOT intended to be long term or go anywhere. It is just a useless selfish treat that feels good in the moment! You don't judge people who snack alot huh? Are you fat shaming people who over eat? Would you sex shame someone who just enjoys physical sex with attractive people? There is NO difference! Fat people who eat too much are no different than horny people who fuck too much, if you hate on one you have to hate on another! Not everything you need has to have meaning to it. This video is just some incel never gets laid ass talk. Don't you DARE tell someone else who you live or what is right for them. I am living proof that "love" isn't real and does NOT last, but all those times I've had sex are pure! I dare you to tell me Hue Hefner wasn't happy and his life didn't have meaning! He didn't have "love" he made an empire on LUST and died a GOD amung men!

Honestly, I really liked Mindy as a character. Sure, she's a bit of a flirt but she immediately backs off once Homer expresses grief about sex with her and doesn't push for what is clear that she does want, which I think is a nice change from how her character would usually be portrayed in most media.

Ironically despite the context of the show forcing her into the "homewrecker" archetype, Mindy would actually be a better love interest than most animated sitcom wives. She's three dimensional, she has interests and hobbies, she has respect for herself and the people around her. I cried while I watched this. I broke up with my ex, and our relationship was heavily lust driven. She cheated on me with her friend. I'm still devastated. She broke my heart when I knew about it. I knew her because of her sexual drives, that coincidentally matched mines. I broke up with her almost two months ago, and stopped talking to her at all exactly a month ago. My therapist now understood why it is so hard for me. A person can't suffer too much because of a long distance 5 month relationship. Until he knew about the amount of lust we had involved. Lust kills. Love heals.

I watched that episode as well, and IMO, it doesn't hold. The events that led to Marge's encounter with her lover involved Homer sabotaging her birthday celebration and not feeling sorry about it, which is a jerk move in my opinion. That being said, you can't blame Marge for getting swept off her feet so easily. In Homer's episode, you can kinda understand why he still wants to be with his wife, because as off-putting as she may be with that nasty cold, he can tell she was still making an effort to keep the family and marriage together. In contrast, Marge only stayed with her husband in the end because the site of happy couples was enough to make her feel guilty.

I remember there was one episode where Marge writes a romance novel, inserting herself as an unfulfilled woman married to a lazy, temperamental drunk (Homer) and she falls for a ripped, kind-hearted, handsome man (Flanders). Marge is somewhat put-off by it, even finding herself lusting after Flanders. At the end of the episode, when Homer finally reads the book and puts two and two together, he confronts Flanders and asks for advice to be a better husband.

That episode was so good fam. It’s not even funny. A lot of people end up married to the one they love most but still end up meeting other people that suite their ideal interest. And it’s so frustrating because you want to stay loyal so bad to your partner but you also want to know what it’s like with the other person. I mean sure there’s polygamy but that doesn’t float so well for most couples or spouses. This episode showed how there’s always a choice and that you don’t have to give in to temptation but that also if you really feel like it’s not working out with your partner for good reasons then you’re not wrong for wanting to be happy. Homer was happy with Marge and loved her dearly, that’s why deep down in his heart he couldn’t be with Mindy romantically or physically. Marge is his one and only.

What if Marge would not have had any sexual interest anymore. how long do you think he'll neglect his desires? Maybe 8-15 years, that's a lot of time hurting yourself if you spouse does not allow you to watch porn or an open relationship. It would be a long forced celibacy

Yeah there’s always a choice even in these tough scenarios. Personally if you aren’t happy in your marriage or relationship and rly considering being with someone else, I’d say divorce/breakup. Like you said, it’s okay to want to be happy and satisfied. Cheating is never right though. The only time I can think it’s justified is if you are in a abusive relationship you literally cannot leave and you have voiced wanting to leave. Other than those unique scenarios I’d say divorce/break up is the true honest way to go about it. Cheating is just selfish and dishonest

The thing that no one tells you about love is that eventually butterflies fade, and at some point it just feels very normal and comfortable to be around that person. That’s why lust and infatuation is such a problem, because it’s the novelty of feelings those strong urges all over again. It’s horribly addicting and you shouldn’t let yourself become obsessed with it. The thing is, so long as you and your spouse still get along very well and still care about each other, have remained loyal to each other, and you have more good times than bad together then that’s all that matters. I’ve been with the man I love for 10 years now, only getting officially married last year. We’ve been through alot together and there’s no one on this planet that I’d ever want more than him. And I know that if I were ever to lose him, especially through some dumb mistake made on my end, I would never be able to live and be happy. Because I’d lose the one person on this planet that genuinely knows every messed up thing I’ve done, every mistake I’ve made, knows every flaw and insecurity I have and knows every messed up part of me, and still looks at me everyday and tells me he loves me. That’s why when I found myself being attracted to a friend of his, it made me feel such horrible guilt. Of course I never acted on that attraction, but brain had intrusive thoughts, telling me I didn’t love my husband and it caused me to have a panic attack over it. That guilt and fear made me believe it was true for a time and it hurt so much. I didn’t ever want to do anything to hurt the love of my life. The guilt is as so bad I couldn’t even look at our wedding picture without feeling guilty. Of course, I told my husband the issues I was having and he listened, and understood. He knows I have problems with anxiety and depression . I had to tell him many times how sorry I was, the horrible thoughts that would run through my mind that I never wanted to think of, etc. They terrified me. It took me a long time to really register his advice to me. That having bad thoughts doesn’t equate to truth, or being a bad person. It’s the actions you choose to commit that make you a bad person. And I also realized that love is not a feeling, it’s a choice you make. I went through so much uncertainty, and I questioned so much that I was sure of in my mind all because of that one panic attack. But even through all that pain and guilt, I never went a single day without making him know that I loved and cared about him greatly and did my best to keep taking care of him. He means the world to me and I never want to lose him. I’ve only recently begun to get over all the paranoia and guilt. Even now I find it hard to even look at men my age without feeling guilt or afraid. I’m not even attracted to them either, I just have a perpetual fear of making that mistake again.

I’ve definitely been burned by lust’s fire before and in the end I can’t say that it was worth it. Nights I beat myself up for not being “sexy enough” and being mad at myself for falling into traps so easily because I was blinded by my attraction to someone. I’m finally healing from it because I’ve done some stupid and even some things that were harmful to myself all in the name of lust

If it were more realistic with physical and mental trauma placed in the story, it wouldn't be funny in the slightest. For example, I was molested as a kid, but I can still laugh at molestation jokes because they are fake, they only have the power over me I allow them to have over me. Being a teen with little to no sexual desire really made me feel like I can make better decisions whenever I decide to get out there and find someone. It makes it so much easier to find the right person when looks aren't a driving factor, Like yeah you look cute and all but you lack the personality or trustworthiness I want in a parter. If given the option I will gladly take the less attractive but more trusting girl over the more attractive but less relatable one. Gives the phrases, "Beauty's in the eye of the beholder," and "Looks can be deceiving," a much deeper and more real meaning.

Over the past couple of months, I have been dealing with my first breakup and thus succumbed to my urges after a 6-month streak. What sucks about it all was that while it only lasted a few months and you couldn't fall in love in that short of a time, we were highly compatible as we shared the same religion, hobbies, politics, and interests. Looking back, it was mostly infatuation with a hint of lust but we still cared about each other, or at least I hope she did. I still miss her but yet she just pretends like I never existed and it's like did anything that happened between us matter? I'm releasing a video about this topic to vent my thoughts and help people in the same predicament as me. Maybe we'll be back together at some point when we're wiser and older.

Similar situation happened to me this year as well...after the breakup it actually left me reflecting on why I chose to go out with her in the first place, though we shared some similar values and interests, she didn't "really" care what I did do...and so it was better I broke up with her as no matter how much I wanted to help or care for her. It didn't mean anything, on top of her trying to manipulate me into thinking I wasn't worth the time. It gets better though in time, relationships can be a lesson to teach ourselves what to be careful of, how to go about things, and hopefully find someone that truly does love or care about us, as well deserves the time. Meanwhile live your life to the best you can, take up hobbies, workout, eventually someone else will come along into your life and give you the respect and love your after, just takes time.

I was in a relationship for a year and a half. Broke up with her recently. Somewhat long distance, she was an hour away from me but my parents trip alot so that was a no go. It was alright at first. She slowly became manipulative, hating everyone we dealt with. Shit began to happen over the months, arguments, accusations of me cheating. I did everything to make her happy. I even gave her like, 100 dollars. It may not seem like much but, we are both young so I guess it means something. Maybe it didn't, don't know. Long story short I split up with her after multiple bad situations and her not wanting to change. Now she's with another guy. I was loyal. I never cheated or anything. So I don't get why it happened. I am trying to workout to get my mind off of it, fix my self image. It's the best thing I can do for myself.

I think that Homer also didn't lean enough into the people around him. I can't tell you how many times I've fallen to pornography because I wasn't surrounded with people who love me, or because I didn't have anybody to weather the temptation with. He might have been afraid to talk to Marge because he didn't want to overburden her while she was sick, or didn't want to introduce conflict, which might have been exacerbated by history. I think that us men are tempted to think that we can do big things alone, because sometimes we've had to, but during the good times, when we approach our problems in healthier, more peaceful ways, our ways of solving problems in the bad times don't work.

I dunno...while some ppl may have an addiction to it and have problems with it, I don't think it means we should be going off trying to ban those websites altogether. If grown adults want to watch that stuff, hey its a free country and they should be allowed to. Look I'm not saying lust is necessarily a good thing nor am I trying to diminish the experiences of people who did have addictions to things related to it but I don't think that just banning things that are addictive left and right is the solution to the world's problems. I mean can't ANYTHING that causes pleasure become an addiction under the right circumstances? Like there are some people addicted to food and videogames but that of course doesn't mean we should be banning those. I mean, there are lots of stuff that are addicting and harmful to people that are perfectly legal in our country like cigarettes and alcohol. Those things even take lives every year. Shit, my aunt's boyfriend who used to come to church with us died of alcohol use and my mom has been hospitalized in the past because of seizures and injuries from accidents while under the influence but I don't think that means we should go back to prohibition. I like a few beers here and there and so do my sibs. Some people can handle it some can't and people who can't should definitely get help and they should get therapy to find the roots of it, especially because addiction replacement is also a thing where people give up one addiction for another

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Your take on why lust can cause issues definitely rings true. From my experience lust can arise from miscommunication from your significant other or from being tired of being alone. In both instances love was always kinder. Lusting for money and fame has created a slew of issues from clout chasers to fake gurus. Self love and unconditional love for your partner helps strengthen you from falling into lustful temptations.

This episode also perfectly demonstrates why lust is one of the seven deadly sins. As a side note I’d also like to expand on this idea about lust because sex and lust are very different things. Sex is about intimacy, closeness and being there for each other whereas lust is all about the body. Now, that being said, if both partners feel lust towards each other and they’re both fine with that then that’s fine but if someone feels lust for someone else and it’s one-sided then that can, and in most cases will, be extremely problematic as this episode and video perfectly explains.

@@bails888 that’s because mammals are a very sexual species, which is the whole point being a dimorphic species. The entire point of sexual drive is to procreate because we cannot produce asexually. However you don’t necessarily need a sexual drive as all it is is a biological urge which leads to some conclusions: 1) you can be in love but not sexually attracted to them 2) just like you can be sexually attracted and not in love 3) you never really “truly” loved them. Which I know 3 sounds harsh, but us as a species throw “love around” like we have free tickets and we know what we’re doing. Of course there are other possibilities, but I don’t feel like writing a grand essay on a youtube comment. Have a great day.

The one thing I will complain about this video is that it treats sexual desire and love as two separate things that can never go together. When in reality they are both important and need to work together. Yes, it’s dangerous to get involved with people you only have sexual desire for but can’t rely on or grow with them. At the same time, if you care about someone but have no sexual desire for them, that will make for a marriage doomed to fail because your sexuality still exists. In other words, just one or the other is not good. Both are necessary for romance. Heck, sexual desire with someone who truly knows you and has seen you at your worst yet desires you all the more is the best form of sexuality in my opinion.
