Definitely a lot of 20/20 hindsight going on. Things were going good in 1928 and people didn't know the stock market crash was a coming, the incumbent Republicans probably seemed like a good choice if you aren't abusing future knowledge.
@toddwebb75218 ай бұрын
Not to mention Nixon getting blown out by Kennedy in 60, if you aren't abusing future "Nixon is a crook" knowledge he's the incumbent VP of a super popular pres during good times. It's at least as close as historical if you are not abusing the Nixon is a crook knowledge.

Mate I voted for Robert La Follette in 1924 (hypothetically) I'm voting Al Smith
@notthebeastinus278627 күн бұрын
Gonna be honest, Al Smith dodged a bullet by losing. The Great Depression was going to happen no matter what, as the rest of the world was going through. It ruined Hoover's reputation. The reason why it was so bad in the US was because Hoover's and FDR's policies exaggerated the effects. If Al Smith had won the democratic nomination, he probably would've resolved it within his first term and it would have been remembered as a recession.

Well if you are more anti establishment than pro (insert party here) Obama was less of an establishment Democrat than John McCain or Mitt Romney was an establishment Republican and Trump was definitely less of an establishment Republican than Hillary or Biden is an establishment Democrat So in short someone who voted for Obama and Trump probably doesn't like either Trump or Obama as much as they hated McCain, Romney, Hillary, and Biden
